Summary: Falls Short of Anything Plausible
Review: This was by far the most amature-looking film I have seen all year. I'm surprised, actually, that any distributor would find this entertaining, considering the giant plot holes, terrible acting and shoddy...well, everything. 'Swimfan' revolves around Madison, a girl insane for reasons God only knows. She falls for Ben, Mr. Perfect, the guy we always meet on screen but never see in real life--he has the perfect girlfriend, an almost-complete scholarship offer to Stanford and pretty much anything else you need along the way. The film begins to fall apart before it even begins. First, it is by far the strangest title I've seen in quite some time, and though it catches your attention, it does little to explain the plot. From there we soon realize that any scenes linking the film together ended up on the cutting room floor. Here is a classic, true example from the film: Our hero Ben goes to his girlfriend's place of employment, which we see to be a restaurant. He desperately needs to talk to her, though she won't get off until after one in the morning. He says he'll wait; she tells him his big swim meet is tomorrow. (The one where he'll finally receive the free ride to Stanford.) He agrees, saying they'll talk in the morning. The next morning he approaches her. She slaps him, walks away and he chases her. Later that night--he is supposed to be swimming--we see him sitting outside the restaurant again. Then what appears to be the FOLLOWING day, we see the swim meet, which he is thrown out of. They talk to each other. They go for a walk. He returns back to school to change. This pretty much sums up the entire movie. Things happen for reasons we cannot explain, but we simply accept it. Why? Because we expect these things from Hollywood. We believe this to be quality cinema. It's too bad we can't see decent films nowadays, though there are a handful each year that are worthy of being good, one or two great even. 'Swimfan' is a waste of your time and a waste of your money. Skip it.

Summary: Aquatic Camp
Review: What can you say about "Swimfan?" It's silly and campy, it rips off "Fatal Attraction," and the lead is wooden and inexpressive. In spite of, or more probably because of, these weaknesses, the film is lots of fun. Ben Cronin (Jesse Bradford) has a girlfriend and a talent for swimming. He has recovered from a crooked past, and hopes for admission to Stamford. However, his world falls apart when he allows himself a night of passion with the new girl in town. It doesn't take a clairvoyant to envision the result of this indiscretion. Erika Christensen gives an appropriately campy performance as the obsessive stalker, and Kate Burton lends some weight as Bradford's mother. The script throws in some appealing stereotypes, including a heroic nerd, and lots of (intentionally?) lousy dialogue. At the screening I attended, the crowd cheered and whistled at the conclusion- an entirely appropriate response to such a lightweight film. But was that really the end? Go and find out. You'll have fun, but you'll forget the entire experience within minutes.

Review: This movie was totally what I thought it would be plus more! "Swimfan" keeps you in suspense and thinking what's going to happen next; that "edge of your seat" feeling. This movie was a hit, I would definitely recommend "Swinfan" to ANYONE!!

Summary: lowest common denominator thriller
Review: If you've seen "Fatal Attraction," then there really isn't much reason for you to check out "Swimfan," which carries the psycho stalker scenario to absurd heights. But since the target audience for this film is today's teens, chances are many of its viewers will never even have heard of "Fatal Attraction," let alone seen it. "Swimfan" is set in one of those high schools that exist only in the movies - you know, the ones that seem to be populated almost entirely by twenty-something hunks and babes (with the occasional nerd thrown in) and which appear to be utterly devoid of teachers, principals, counselors or any other adult supervisory staff to run the place (in all fairness, we DO get to see one swim coach). None of these students are ever seen attending a class, cracking open a book or doing any homework, but then that would sort of spoil the fun of the high school experience now, wouldn't it? Ben Cronin (Jesse Bradford) doesn't ask much out of life. All he wants is to be left alone to concentrate on his swimming so that he'll be in tiptop shape to impress the scouts who are coming out from Stanford to have a look at him. That's his plan anyway, until one day, into his life, strolls Madison Belle (Erika Christensen), a pretty young seductress, who, upon her arrival at the school, makes an immediate beeline for Ben, seducing him in the school's swimming pool and making his life thoroughly miserable thereafter. Soon Madison is stalking our hero in true Glenn Close fashion, finding ways to insinuate herself into every aspect of Ben's once seemingly ideal life. Indeed, Ben has every thing going for him: popularity, good looks, athletic prowess, a devoted mother, a girlfriend who loves him - and it all threatens to come crashing down around him after just one night of unbridled passion with this fresh-from-out-of-town psychotic nut case. About the only interesting aspect of "Swimfan" is how it shows that, in this technologically advanced age, a genuine stalker now has so many more options at his or her disposal - answering machines, cell phones, pagers, voice mail, email, instant messages. The possibilities are endless. It's enough to make one long for the good old days when an obsessed paramour had to at least foot the bill for a phone call or buy a stamp to send a deranged letter, or at least find ever more clever ways of skulking around. Stalking just seems way too easy these days. Technology appears to have taken all the challenge out of it. Unlike "Fatal Attraction," which at least managed to achieve a level of credibility before it went off the deep end in the final act, "Swimfan" never establishes a believable tone. Madison's actions always just feel like melodramatic plot points, and Ben's retaliatory measures aren't much better. And the law enforcement in the town - well, the less said about THEM the better! Ultimately, the story becomes more and more preposterous as it churns along, so much so that the film actually ends up generating more laughs than gasps by the time it is over. Jesse Bradford and Erika Christensen may still have solid acting careers ahead of them, but my suspicion is that "Swimfan" will not rank very high on either of their resumes.

Summary: Barely Floating!
Review: I thought that this movie would be better then it really turned out.The plot of the movie looked like this would be a good suspenseful movie about an girl who becomes increasly obessesed with a guy with whom she had a one night stand with.Instead I got a slow paced,long,thriller that I could have lived with out. The movie is alot like The Crush with Alicia Sliverstone or Fatel Attraction with Glenn Close.Very similiar to those two movies so if you liked those two movies you would probally like this one.This movie didn't really do well for me in the end. The movie stars Jesse Bradford as the main character Ben Crowin. His life seems to be perfect at the moment.He has a great girlfriend,Amy,he's on the swimteam and has a good chance at getting into Stanford,and then his life is all changed all because of one little moment.He meets the new girl named Madison Bell who is having trouble opening her locker.Ben helps her and then they become friends.After almost hitting her with his car he offers her a ride home where she forgets her notebook in his car.He has to go back to her house to return it where they go back to the school and go swimming.There they have a one night stand and agree in the end that they are just friends.Over the next few days Madison becomes fixated one the fact that he loves her.After repeatly telling her that he does not love her Madison gets angry and starts to hurt the people that he loves. The plot has been done alot and the movie was entirly predictable.Even the ending was the type of ending that you could guess what would happen.The very ending did come a little to fast and then the scene right before the credits made you want at least 2 minutes more.All in all the movie deserves a 2 1/2 star rating but since you can't do that on amazon I am giving the movie 3 stars. Summary: Awesome movie, action/adventure, check it out.
Review: Aight, let me break it down. I went to the mall on Friday with a bunch of friends to see Swimfan, and completely loved it. It was so awesome! There's a major Hot scene in the pool within the first 5 minutes of the movie, which was probably the second best scene in the whole thing. It's about some psycho chick who moves to New Jersey, completely falls in love with this swimmer at her school(for a good reason which you'll find out about in the end of the movie), and stops at NOTHING to get what she wants. She's crafty and bitchy while still remaining sexy and sweet, which is a real turn on and adds a ton of interest to the movie. Basically, she turns everything the swimmer has aginst him until, finally, he finds out the truth behind her unseen past.... which leads to a major climax, and just when you think the whole thing's over, it gets even better! Excitment will run through your veins while watchin' this action/adventure thriller, so make sure you don't have too much to drink while watchin' it. I rate it #2 on my list of favorite movies. Rent it, check it out, see it in theatres, whatever. I'm buyin' it as soon as it comes out on DVD...Thanx.

Summary: swimfan =not a bad breastroke
Review: I had huge hopes for this movie and when it was over not a bad flick.At times it was very predictable and been done before a 100 times over.But i knew that going in ,the acting was very convincing and top notch.My only cheif complaint it needed to be at least another 15 - 20 minutes longer.For me this is more like a guilty pleasure like film.Others will enjoy while some may think its a complete waste .Overall it delivers on most fronts and is very fast paced.I have always been a fan for this type of genre boarding on horror, so my opinion may be a little biased.

Review: Don't see this movie. Sure, you can see Jesse Bradford after he shaved, but you could have saved on it and rented Clockstoppers. Plus, it was scary. It tells you how jealousy hurts. Don't make this happen in real life. Don't ignore anyone! Just save yourself from another bad dream. There are some hot girls though.

Summary: Despite the title, it's actually pretty good
Review: I didn't want to see this movie at all. The title makes it sound like a melodramatic love story. It doesn't even have any big stars in it!
The thing is, though, that it's a thriller and it's actually quite good.
Some girl falls in love with this championship swimmer, but he's already engaged. She decides that meeting him at the YMCA pool after hours is the best way to get him alone, seduces him, then...(you know...) The catch is, though, that she thinks that they might have a future together. He KNOWS they don't. Well, if SHE can't have him, NOBODY can.
If I could, I'd give this movie 3.5 of 5 *s.

Review: From the looks of things, everyone on here either hates
it or dislikes it, but i have to admit that i watched it and
the story is good, the only problem with it is that it needs more creative writing to it, in order for it to be
more interesting. The director needed
to include more life into Erika Christensen's
character(Madison Bell). We fans needed more details.
