Summary: Nothing Explained
Review: What was most upsetting about this movie is the fact that nothing is explained. Nothing is resolved. And if you're content with watching a movie and not receiving all the information necessary to understand WHY things are happening, then you'll be ok watching this. Yes it is somewhat creepy. Yes, Naomi Watts is a fantastic beautiful actress and does a great job along with the boy who plays her son. Yes, the plotline was a fantastic one that could have been developed better.

But in the end, you are left with a movie that doesn't explain why the "entity" is killing people, where this "entity" came from, nor how to defeat it. Unless they come up with a sequel/prequel movie that answers my concerns above, then this movie will have been a waste for me.

Summary: A Bit Overrated and Unoriginal
Review: The first thing I thought of after seeing The Ring was that it is a hybrid of three other horror movies: First, there's a tape that kills you a few days after you watch it. This sounds very familiar to the 1982 David Cronenberg movie Videodrome where James Woods finds a mysterious tv show that carries a hidden signal and turns whoever watches it into a programmed killer before eventually killing them as well. Then there is the precocious kid who we are so used to seeing in almost every horror film these days. The first thing you'll think of when you see him is whether or not he sees dead people (The Sixth Sense), thinks his daddy is a superhero (Unbreakable), or thinks the water tastes funny (Signs). Lastly, there is the plotline of a ghost trying to exact revenge from its watery grave, which is a carbon copy of the 1980 classic haunted-house movie The Changeling starring the late great George C. Scott. If you've never seen any of these films, then you may enjoy this movie more than I did. I for one was not scared at all by The Ring, but I did like the atmosphere of the movie. I also thought the pace near the end seemed to drag on and on. Each time you think it's about to end, it keeps going with more pointless twists (like Minority Report)..... pointless because nothing is explained in detail anyway, so why keep it going. In any case, you should see the movie and see what you think, just avoid letting the hype build your expectations too high like I did.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: This is one of the scariest smart movies, it is psychologically scary, it gets you the way Silence of the Lambs and The Exorcist gets you. The gore isnt whast scares you,... , its what it makes you think about. I dont think that hollywood these days has had many good horror flicks but thish proves to be a great one. The story is great, there arent many special effects, but they are not needed, there also arent any pathetic attemptes at special effects. I would review the story, but i wont spoil it for ya....

Summary: definitely not the scariest movie ever
Review: First of all, I'd like to say that all my friends thought this movie was the scariest movie they had ever seen and I've heard some people saying its scarier than the exorcist. Ridiculous. The Exorcist is a much scarier film than this. Maybe its just becasue I had heard so much about it that i didnt find it too scary intitially, but a couple scenes were just hilarious (im thinking of the ones with the horse and the old guy electrocuting himself, both of which were supposed to be scary,) This certaintly isnt the scariest movie ever.
Now that being said, I will say that this movie is scary. Not the scariest film ever. But effectively creepy. Gore Verbinski is generally good at building suspense, and The little girl in it is pretty freaky, even though this whole 'Sinister and/or mysterious children' thing is kind of a cliche in horror movies. Psychological?...I guess, but it could have been more so.The scene where the videotape is shown to the audience wasnt so scary for me, maybe because i had already viewed it online months earlier on some upcoming movies site (no,I didnt get a phone call), thought the first time I saw it I was fairly spooked. The film moved at a good pace and was interesting and enough to keep me from never being bored, and it was cool how it eventually turned into a sort of family drama and the the very end was unexpecedly artsy. There were too many false endings before it though.I wanna see the japanese version, cause ive heard its scarier.
All in all, I'd give this film about 31/2 stars if possible, but I decided to go with four. Generally a scary movie, though it may take a while to realize the scariness of some parts, but it doesnt compare to the exorcist or even the sixth sense, which I thought was also scarier than this film.

Summary: ARF!
Review: Worst waste of time I have EVER spent. First movie I have ever wanted to UN-WATCH. I love scary movies, subjects, stories and books, so hey...how about that Japanese version? I'll try that.

Summary: CREEPY, SCARY, DISTURBING, YOU NAME IT
Review: I just read a review from A Viewer from Cali. That person needs to rethink what he/she says. You are basically calling me a psycho because this film creeped me out in the theater. YOU HAVE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR HEAD then if this movie DIDN'T scare you. My opinion is that this movie rocks and deserves to be seen. It is as one review on the DVD says "A Spooky Good Time".

Summary: Good Movie, Stupid Ending
Review: This movie has some good scary's in it and a good story but the way you surive is stupid.

Summary: Amazing
Review: With its disturbing images and a few good shocks, The Ring is the kind of frightfest you'll watch to set a chilling mood or spook your susceptible friends! This is a scary film, it'll take some time for people to relize it. I mean when The Exorcist was released in 1973, nobody knew that they were watching the scariest movie ever made! So yes this will take some time for people to relize how scary this is. No it isn't scarier than The Exorcist, but then again what is?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Awesome Movie!
Review: Don't listen to the negative reviews, they wanna sound tough because so many were scared in this movie. No plot holes, great acting, great story and great music make this scary horror film a classic and should be given more credit that it is getting.

Summary: THIS IS NOT A SCARY MOVIE!!!
Review: I'm so sick of hearing around every corner that "this is the scariest movie I've ever seen in my life!" I'm not putting this movie down, because it's actually a v. good and interesting film, but it's not fair to label it as "horror" because it simply is NOT THAT SCARY! The movie probably has 1 or 2 big scary moments, but that's it. Overall, it's more of a mystery (and an interesting and mildly disturbing one at that) than a horror flick. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that for a movie to be scary it has to make you jump out of your seat or anything cheesey like that, but when you watch this film expecting a certain kind of experience, and it delivers something totally different, it takes away from what you could've enjoyed had you walked into the movie totally uninformed...

THIS IS NOT A SCARY MOVIE!!!

If you want to watch a good movie that makes you think and keeps you on the edge of your seat, check this out because, as I stated before, it is a v. good film, but if you're a horror buff and just want some genuine spine-tingling chills, you might wanna stay away from this and watch something genuinely creepy like The Exorcist or Rosemary's Baby.
