Summary: You HAVE to see this film!
Review: The Ring is an amazing film!!!! There are moments when the tension is almost unbearable. The constant creepiness is chilling, and there is no humour or mercy, it's just pure scaryness. Do watch it! It's an amazing film, which keeps you gripped and the actors are superb! But I dont reccomend you watch it alone, or you might find you cant watch the whole thing! Well, I'm just a scaredy cat anyway!

Summary: Don't watch twice
Review: The first time I saw this in the theater and it was very nice. I had a lot of after thoughts about the movie and was refreshed by its style. When I watched it at home the second time it seemed very goofy and the little boy character made me wanna scratch his little eyeballs out. It's worth one watch though.

Summary: The scariest film ever made
Review: The Ring is brilliant. I was scared for weeks. It is not only terrifying, but their is actually a great story line full of suspense. I recommend every one to see this film. You may not want to view it alone, Believe me it is that scary!

Summary: the 1 star reviewers have are not credible
Review: Dont believe the one star reviews. I love horror, good horror. This is a better adaptation of an ok japanese film.

Its not a classic, but has enought twists, interest and scarey bits in it to keep interest. Like, say, 28 Days Later.

I have to laugh at the 1 star reviewers. One said that we should watch classics like Friday the 13th etc. These films are rubbish, and teen rubbish which is worse. If you knew the genre then you could have sited; Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead or the Shining. Clearly you dont know what you are on about.

Another reviewer droned on about scarey kids. Well duh, it and the original version centre around a dead kid. Killed at the hands of the parents. That is the central plot. So what would you have replaced the kid with, a scarey rabbit???

Another 1 star wonder says the end killed it. Jeez thats funny. The end is a horror classic. It was voted top 5 scarey moments on celluloid. So Im not sure how it ruined the film.

However clicking through on some of the one star reviewers, I notice theyve given high marks to rubbish like Ghost Ship, Cradle 2 Grave and low marks to classics like Pulp Fiction, Final Destination. So be warned, either these people are taking the piss, or even more scarey, they are serious!

Good, not a classic, worth seeing with the lights down low for a few shocks. Or you could watch the scarey Ghost Ship, which of course was scarey only in that it was trash! ;-)

Summary: Not As Scary As It is suspenseful
Review: Everyone talks about "The Ring" and how scary it is. It really isn't all that scary but there are parts that make you jump and others that make you wonder "what happens next?" The Ring is a great movie to watch, but probably only once.

The story follows a reporter who investigates the death of her niece, after her niece dies of viewing a strange tape. The catch? Well, the main character Rachel (Naomi Watts) doesn't believe that watching a tape is going to kill you so she watches it anyway. It's when she gets a call that a mysterious child talks to her saying "7 Days" does this "High school" rumor begins to seem true.

This is a movie that you have to "Piece Together" but don't worry, it's a lot easier than most other movies. "The Ring" isn't classified as a horror film, but rather a Mystery and Suspense.

The Ring isn't enough to make you "wet your pants" or "scare the crap out of you." There are parts that are creepy in this tale that spans seven days, but I'll admit that some make no sense. Such as why can the main character pull a fly from the T.V. screen on the tape? What significance does this have in the story? Other parts make sense, but I suppose that the only part that really is partially scary is near the end where the suspense actually gets to you. It's not a question of "Is the girl going to survive" but more importantly "how".

The acting is pretty good, with even a bit of humor thrown in there. Unless your one of those "Well this actor/actress sucks so I'm going to give this movie a bad review" type people, then you'll be quite impressed with the acting in this movie. With the exception of the little boy who wasn't very creepy, might I add.

Still, The Ring can please. As I said, it isn't as scary as it is suspenseful. The music score is pretty good as well. If you don't like the movie, it's fine, it's not the kind of movie everyone is going to like.

Summary: Not as scary as I thought it would be....
Review: ... but it did give me quite a few good chills and thrills! The cinematography was spectacular in creating the feel of the movie. The imagery was intense and spooky - so it does a good job at being a horror movie, but don't expect it to scare you out of your pants! Definitely worth checking out but perhaps not so much to purchase for your DVD collection.

Summary: I would Put Negetive But they do not let me.
Review: The worst piece of crap i have ever seen. This movie basicly said that hollywood sucks. Hollywood The town that Made movies like: Casablanca, Its a wonderfull life, and, oh lets say.... The Blair witch project and Last Action Hero.
I mean if this movie actually scared you then you are afraid of your own shadow. I cant belive that someone actually wrote this based on the jap movie. WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY SMOKING WHEN THEY THOUGHT OF THIS SACK OF ****?
On a Rating scale of 1-10 1 being i will watchi it whne i have insomnia to 10 which will give me insomnia i rate this -7 meaning my 7 yr old reletive will say this sucks.
I saw this movie with my friends and after the movie ended we went to the ticketbooth and demamnded our money back but to no success and we are not the only ones who felt this way.
I put the blair witch movie in because the ring sucked more then The blair witch ( which i though was the worst movie in the world but i stand corrected.)
I feel like throwing up just thinking of how much this movie sucked.

Summary: FRESH, ORIGINAL, CREEPY, AND SCARY AS HE11!
Review: In an age of so-called horror movies that are cheesy, lame, and even just plain boring, this movie echoes the ages past of real horror movies like The Exorcist, The Shining, and Angel Heart. Horror movies that actually invoked horror. If you didn't know better, you'd think this movie was made 20+ years ago. I was sitting on the edge of my seat from the very first second to the very last second of this film. It engrosses you and pulls you in so much so that it feels almost real. That's exactly what makes it so creepy and scary. It is a mystery, suspense and horror film all rolled into one. The plot is fresh and original and has never been done before with the exception of the original Japanese film Ringu that inspired this American version, which is far creepier and scarier than the Japanese version. However, there are many unanswered questions at the end of the movie even after the mystery has been solved, leaving the audience hanging. It definitely leaves plenty of confusion that can be solved in a sequel if there is one. This is the scariest movie I've seen in over ten years, and I've seen almost all of the horror movies out there! If you're looking for a fresh and frightening movie watch The Ring in the dark. Alone. With the phones turned off. And be well aware that you may not be alive in another week! ;)

Summary: Good American Take on Japanese Modern Classic
Review: "The Ring" is a decent Americanized verison of the Japanese horror film "Ringu". While it removes things that American audiences may have trouble understanding or accepting (i.e. the boy's father is somewhat psychic, and this is never addressed as being odd), it adds some interesting twists and features (i.e. the horses). While both films end the same, I find the Japanese version to be creepier - possibly because I saw it first.

If you're into Japanese films, get "Ringu". Otherwise, "The Ring" is a decent scary filck.

Summary: And?
Review: This is an Americanization of Ringu (1998), a Japanese horror film that was well aclaimed. Usually American remakes of foreign films are a bad idea, and this is no exception.
Though many people who have seen this film find it scary, and I checked it out after several recommendations, personally, I was disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was not scared at all, though I watched it alone, late at night, in a house out in the woods. Perhaps I just don't scare easily though, and I admit the plot was interesting-- albeit resolved in a mundane and predictable way.

Urban Legend holds that viewers of a particular video will die seven days after seeing the film. There's a way to avoid this fate, but it comes only by stumbling onto it accidentally. The tape itself contains no clue as to its origin or auteur, and the plot revolves around the aunt of one of the tape's victims desperately trying to track down the demons responsible for this horrible thing.

This film suffers from lackluster acting; the one really good thing about it is that the killer tape itself is quite unnerving. This film moves along well, and is worth seeing, but if you're looking to be scared out of your wits, try to find a copy of the original Japanese film.
