Summary: Missing that Final Touch
Review: A classic location , a respectable cast . Not much special effects,but effective for most of the scenes.Still because of many cliche elements and a non impressive mummy , this movie ended in the same abandend location as it is filmed.

Summary: Flawed Sequences and unfinished subplots but enjoyable
Review: A film with a intriguing story line but not produced with the quality that could have had. Walken's performance was short and solid but he really lacked a convincing Irish accent. Jared Harris and Alison Elliot were likeable (or dislikeable, take your pick) enough as the alcoholic couple trying to get away. Though Elliot was spelldinding in her double role as the witch; either that or maybe I just find her extremely attractive. It's unclear what her intentions were besides possesing Nora's soul. what about the dear uncle's throat cutting (Maybe she didn't find Walken as attractive as she did Harris). Also, The scene in the library was poorly developed, to say the least, when Alison' ex and two other StarTrek-styled victims died within minutes of appearing in such an opportunate manner. I have some unanswered questions about the whole film. What was the purpose of having granny locked up? What happened in Nora's past with her mother? Did Nora or the Druid Witch survive at the end? If I can get just these questions answered, the film will make more sense for me and some people out there.

Summary: Ugh. Bad.
Review: Also known as Trance, I picked this one up because I saw a preview for it and the premise looked interesting-- family goes to Ireland to dry out (oh, yeah, like THAT would work) and stay with the crazy uncle (Christopher Walken, the only A-list actor in the film). The crazy uncle has the well-preserved body of a two-thousand-year-old druidess in the basement, and hey! she just happens to look like the wife. (You can see where this is going, I'm sure.) We've seen it a hundred times. And it was done better a hundred times. Perhaps the longest ninety-five minutes I've spent in front of a television so far this year. Avoid like the plague.

Summary: Inept, and awkward horror
Review: An extremely poor movie, centered around a dumb, flat horror plotline about a woman returning to her ancestral home, where her uncle has inexplicably dug up a witch that begins to possess her. Aside from uninspired dialouge, the story also has some hideous flaws, including a characters who suddenly pop up in the third act just to be served up as victims (like the writer realized he had to have some action, but he couldnt kill his main characters, so he just inserted a few people so he could dispatch them a minute later).Alison Elliot slips in and out of her Scottish accent from scene to scene, usually only remembering that she is supposed to be Scottish only when in a scene with someone else being Scottish. Walken collects his paycheck and seems to think that all one has to do in order to sound Scottish is only pronounce the last word in every sentence with an accent. Mercifully, his throat is cut early on in the movie so we dont have to hear his pale attemt at an accent anymore. A major annoyance is that in the films two clumsy action scenes. They obviously didnt have the money to film all of the special effects, in the first, they set up the scene like we are about to see the witch use her powers, and then they cut to a slow motion shot of Elliot trying to act horrified whlie we hear some calamity, and then they suddenly cut to the room with a few bodies laying around and things turned over, and everyone pretending like some big fight with the witch has has just gone on, and how they did this and that to her and she wont die and how she killed thier frinds, BUT WE NEVER SEE ANY OF IT! It is just inexcusable and irratating. The films only positive points are some gifted cinematography, with a couple of gorgeous shots, and a really ethereal, beautiful woman in the flashback scenes playing the witch .

Summary: Uncle Walken we hardly knew ye...
Review: Disappointing because it had potential. Alison Elliot in the lead is a complete stiff and shows virtually no range. Lots of shots of her in the second half of the movie staggering around (as the wife or the witch) looking distraught. There's your drama and it just ain't enough. Jared Harris does a better job as the husband. Tough to get involved though when the married couple they portray comes off as a bit repellant. Walken does his usual thing (which I like) and breaths a bit of life into the midpoint but the story turns to complete mush after he leaves (too soon). As the site review mentions above, the underwater photography is quite pretty. Not intended as a "serious" horror movie to be sure but Nadja (also an underachieving movie) had the better sense of humor.

Review: Eternal is an OK horror film. The idea is that Nora and her Husband Jim, along with their son Jim, travel to Ireland to visit her ailing grandmother. While there she stays with her Uncle Bill (Christopher Walken) who seems to be as ecentric and insane as he described her Grandmother. FOund this 2000 year old druid witch mummy in the bog and seems to be trying to ressurect her. HE succeeds and he dies. From there the witch is trying to fuse with Nora and live her life out again for another 100 years or so. As it turns out however that Nora Grandmotehr is Good Witch and with Nora help slays the evil witch. This movie is only Ok and is a weekend rental. There is mild violence and gore, and really the R rating goes for the [f]word ... being said a few times, a slit throat, and a lot of drinking.

this film, it's a song titled "Rockets" by Cat Power. I've
always loved this song and was quite surprised to hear it in
a film. This movie surprised me quite a bit. Much better than
I expected, especially considering the horrible DVD cover that
the studio gave it.

Summary: Likeable Horror Fare
Review: I enjoyed this film immensley, but felt let down by an ambiguous ending. Walken isn't onscreen for long, but the couple are extremely charismatic and likeable. The camerawork and interesting use of flashback were the best parts of the movie. Also, this was set in IRELAND not Scotland as the above indicates! The reason I don't give it 5 stars, is that the Druid "witch"'s intentions are never really explained. What does she want? We are told at one point she wants the heroine's soul, but this isn't expanded upon. The film is nice to look at, and has startling imagery, but the plot is incomprehensible.
