Summary: Ingenious Horror Film
Review: "Communion" is the better alternative title for this thoroughly enjoyable horror film. Don't expect to see much of the character of Brooke Shields, as she doesn't survive for very long! That's all I 'm saying about the plot, as this is a real whodunnit that should be enjoyed without prior warning. The real star of this movie is Paula Sheppard as the disturbed youngster Alice, who appears to be at the center of some very gruesome murders. It doesn't help that she likes to wander around in a bright yellow raincoat and spooky smiling mask, but that's just scratching the surface of this movie's weirdness..Gore highlights include a horrific stabbing through a staircase bannister which will make you wince, as well as a painful scene in which the murderer has to bash in the teeth of a victim who is biting down on a vital piece of incriminating evidence..ouch! All the acting is superb, including Linda Miller as the agonised mother, and Jane Lowry, I think as the bitchy aunt. The film really stands out because of the stylish direction and many twists, I really recommend a viewing. It has been compared to "Don't Look Now", but it reminds me more of Michael Winner's "The Sentinel", only better.

Summary: Do not be mislead.
Review: ...If you want a movie where people die stupidly (And mostly don't die at all.) and the revelation of the movie's killer is so off the wall and dorky. Than run, don't walk and pick yourself up a brand new steamy copy of "Alice sweet Alice."
I guess a more distinguished palate might enjoy the film's protagonists constant whining and speaker crushing screaming.
But I couldn't.

Summary: The cult horror movie par excellence!
Review: A truly unsettling, occasionally extremely disturbing but overall deliciously chilling shocker which juxtaposes graphic and bloody murder with religious iconography in a most effectively and quite unforgettable way. Stylishly directed in marvellously Hitchcockian fashion by Alfred Sole and played to the hilt by a terrific cast who all deliver painfully believable performances, COMMUNIION is indubitably the most arresting psycho slasher movie since PSYCHO itself. Buy it today without delay!

Summary: Sweet Sweet Alice...Sweet Sweet Karen!
Review: ALICE (played beautifully by Obscure Cult Film Actress Paula Shepard) is a really odd child, truly demented...BUT...is she actually capable of these gruesome murders?

KAREN (played by the ever lovely Brooke Shields) is the family Favorite...and greatly grieved after her grisly death.

WATCH THIS FAB FLICK WITH THE LIGHTS ON!

Summary: One of the Best Movies I've Ever Seen
Review: Alice Sweet Alice is a total thrill ride sparked with horror and gore galore! There is a strange satire of the Catholic church also which entertains and works on many levels. This little seen gem is full of super acting and the film debut of Brooke Shields! You'll shudder with fear and keep guessing who the killer may be. The film is unrelenting in its horror and is great on multiple viewings also. Alice is not to be missed!

Summary: Slow, but well-developed.
Review: Alice, Sweet Alice (Alfred Sole, 1976)

Alfred Sole directed only four films in his brief career (he later switched to production design, and has been running his feet off in that capacity since 1994; two films, twenty-six TV movies, and a TV series). Alice, Sweet Alice was the second of them, and the only film he directed for which he also wrote the screenplay. Very strange, because Alice, Sweet Alice is the best film Sole directed, and you'd think Hollywood would have given him another chance.

Alice (Liquid Sky's Paula E. Sheppard) is a troubled adolescent. Her mother, Catherine (Linda Miller of An Unmarried Woman and Turner & Hooch), is at wits' end. Her sister Karen (Brooke Shields, in her big screen debut) alternates between hating her and wanting to be her. Until, that is, Karen winds up dead just before receiving her first communion. The community's suspicion falls on Alice, naturally, while her mother staunchly defends the girl's innocence.

Tight, leisurely, and eerie, Alice, Sweet Alice is one of those movies that keeps you guessing till the end (even when the killer is revealed half an hour before that). It takes time to develop its characters, which has turned off a number of reviewers; if you rent this expecting a nonstop frightfest, you will be disappointed. This is mystery combined with coming-of-age tale that happens to have horrific elements to it.

Special mention should be made of the appearance of silent film star Lillian Roth, whose cameo was her first big-screen appearance in over forty years. (Roth would make only one more appearance, also a cameo, before her death in 1980.)

A fine piece of work, and one that deserves far more recognition than it's gotten. *** ½

Summary: Alice, Sweet Alice
Review: Alice, Sweet Alice is an overall effective film.Yet at times it is extremely confusing or silly. The plot is fairly well written. The acting is let's say not the best. The plot goes like this a little girl is killed on her Communion and her sister is suspect.(SPOILERS)The costume isn't to bad, but I was so confused when the priest's housemother was the killer.A few of the death scenes were good for the film. One of the most confusing things about the film is the last shot.If anyone understands it please explain.Towards the end though I started to doze off.If you are younger you will probably be more scared than the older people. In conclusion if your looking for an old type horror that doesn't have to many scares you will probably enjoy this film.

Summary: Strange Twists
Review: I enjoyed this movie .Very stange because it keeps you wondering who the killer really is.I thought it was Alice ,but it didn't turn out that way. At the end I like the way Alice gets the bag from the killer .It reminds me of Halloween 4 when mike myers neice turns into him at the end.
