Review: This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen. The special effects are great and the story has turns that are never expected. This is a must watch for Jennifer Lopez fans (I saw it twice with plans for more) and anyone who likes movies with twists and turns.

Review: people who cannot appreciate this movie, its acting, or its plot are impatient and too judgemental. the expressions the actors have in this movie is for a specific artistic purpose, every word and scene is deeply and intentionally symbolic. its messages are no clearer than any message can be. it only briefly touches on the standard chliches of hollywood, and, perhaps, only to comment on them.i was only going to give it 4 stars , because they could have cut out some of the early parts with the boy, and because of the convenient and coincidental solution which came at the end; but then i realized the intention behind these two devices, so it gets 5 stars. this is a work of art in the way it treats the audience to what they expect while making them see there can be more.

Review: No one can deny that The Cell was well acted and a visual treat. But most people miss the point of the movie and get the wrong idea about the plot, even most critics. The plot in this movie is very carefully crafted and is a work of sheer genius. But some people won't get it, even if it is explained to them in great detail. If you thought that The Cell was visually stunning with a hollow plot, think again. This is one movie that has a hidden agenda that you just don't get with one viewing. There is an entirely different way to interpret this movie than the obvious conclusion. I don't want to give out spoilers, but when I explain my interpretations to other people who've seen the film, it nearly always changes their whole attitude about it. Listen intently to everything Vince Vaughn says in the movie, especially his conversations with Lopez, and keep in mind that things might not be as they seem. You might just kick yourself when you find yourself seeing it in a whole different light.

Summary: Trespassing in the mind of a Killer
Review: As she took my ticket and tore the stub off, the young woman looked at it and said one word : "Weird." With that admonition, I took my seat in the darkened theater to experience the visual mindfest of "The Cell." Offering a sharp new twist on the science-fiction thriller genre, "The Cell" is about what happens when science trespasses the gates of a madman's inner sanctum. A sort of a cross between "The Matrix" with a little "Silence of the Lambs" tossed in, "The Cell" takes a shocking, riveting and extraordinary journey into the dark and dangerous corridors of a serial killer's mind. Opening with a spectacular dreamlike scene shot in an African desert, the audience knows right away that, visually, "The Cell" will not be a typical run-of-the-mill Hollywood production. And, trust me, it's not like anything you may have seen so far. Making this journey into the recesses of a killer's nightmarish fantasy world is Catherine Deane, played by singer/actress Jennifer Lopez, a psychologist who has been experimenting with a radical new therapy. Through a new "transcendental science," Catherine can literally experience what is happening in another person's unconscious mind, including their dreams . Vincent D'Onofrio is chilling as Carl Stargher, a bright but bent serial killer with a rare sickness that effects his brain and keeps him eating aspirin as though it were candy. He kidnaps women, then tortures them by slowly drowning them in a glass cell. The water is released on a timer and he videotapes the whole process. He also has metal rings embedded in his back, arms and legs and loves being suspended by them in midair for...well, never mind what for. The bad news is that Stargher falls into a permanent type of catalepsy because of his sickness, just as the Feds finally locate him. But, his final victim sits, still alive for the moment, in his hidden, booby-trapped cell. FBI Agent Peter Novak, played by Vince Vaughn is desperate to find the last victim before she dies a slow, terrible death, and turns to Catherine and her crack scientific team, consisting of Henry West (Dylan Baker) and Dr. Miriam Kent (Marianne Jean-Baptiste.) Novak asks Deane to do the unthinkable--- use her chemically and electrically-induced therapy to enter Stargher's demented mind and to hunt down the location of his watery torture cell. Catherine bravely, though foolishly, agrees to go where no person has gone before---deep into the shifting shadows and bizarre secrets of a killer's mind. But this mind is different from anything she has ever experienced before---depraved, powerful and filled with monstrous images. Yes, this is definitely good science fiction, but I can more easily accept the idea of traveling through someone else's mind than Lopez as a psychologist. During most of the action, the sensitive doctor is in various stages of undress; she's displayed like a pinup from some bizarre Japanese monster magazine. I found it difficult to take her seriously or as a doctor, but I'll be the first to admit that she looks great in the rubber suit into which she's apparently poured. And, visually, I found myself a little disoriented when I stepped back out into the real world of sunshine and "normal" life. D'Onofrio definitely steals the movie playing five different characters who are all part of Stargher's mind, each one more terrifying than the next. Expect breathtaking visuals, a beautiful and sexy Jennifer Lopez, very good acting by Vaughn and D'Onofrio, and a fractured fairy tale that will make you squirm in your seat. Teen-age audiences looking for action will probably turn out in droves to see this film...the under-17-year-olds sneaking in, no doubt. Roger's Rating: 7 out of 10.

Review: "The Cell" was a pretty good movie. There were great virtual reality-type special effects. Jennifer Lopez plays a woman who goes into the mind of a comatose psychotic, who is the only person who knows the location of where one of his victims is awaiting to die. This movie will definitely keep the viewer mesmerized.

Summary: Audience Pleaser
Review: This thrilling movie is one like I have never seen before. Having seen Jennifer Lopez in other films, I believe it's one of the best jobs she has accomplished so far. In the movie, she takes you on a very psychotic ride literally through the mind of a serial killer. Her goal is to find the place where the victims are kept before their doom. She confronts many obstacles that are very daring and creative. I would have to congratulate the director Tarsem Singh for his fantastic imagination he has put to life. I believe its originality makes it the best. One impressing feature about this movie is the special effects that were done to make it so real. This movie really left me on the edge of my seat because I didn't know what to expect next. The futuristic feel and the incredible wardrobe adds a nice touch most movies don't have. I would classify it as a horror slash science fiction movie gone haywire and recommend it to all teens and adults. The movie has all the elements other movies are missing and will not leave you upset.

Summary: The Eyes Have It
Review: 'The Cell' is a visual feast, there is no doubt. Everything is gorgeous, the sets, the makeup, and especially the costumes. Even the sound is a treat for the senses. Texture, lighting, rich symbolism; every artistic aspect is present in this movie. The only thing is... the visual richness barely makes up for an unoriginal script, so-so acting on the part of everyone except the killer, bland characters (again, everyone except the killer), and clumsy logic. (Okay, how do we get the killer in a coma? Uhhhh, strange viral mental condition! Yeah, that should work.) I thought that this movie should be at least an hour longer in order to fully flesh out the characters, and re-cast to get some actors who know how to do emotion. Maybe if we had more sympathy for these characters, the movie would have been actually scary, which it wasn't. It was twisted and eerie, but terrifying? I don't think so. But I still think that this movie is a must have for any DVD library, just for the sheer visual spectacle it presents. Who knows, maybe the producers were sparse on plot and characterization to make the killer's dreamworld disturbingly realistic by comparison. Who knows. If you want a serial killer movie with luscious images, watch 'The Cell'. If you want good characters and psychological terror, 'Seven' would be a better bet.

Summary: The Cell - Experience Coma For Yourself
Review: This film makes the X-Men look like a masterpiece. The acting is terrible and the script is nonexistant. The visuals, whilst stunning, well we all have seen CG before. To sum this film up is easy, its total arse.

Review: Jenifer Lopez stars in the scariest movie of the summer, The Cell. Right when you sit in your seat in the theater to watch the film, you know your in for a wild ride. The Cell brings you some of the most terrifying images ever seen in a movie. And I am not just talking gory images. There are some images that are so beautiful it's scary! Jenifer Lopez gives her best performance ever seen on film and so do the other actors. I wouldn't take any kids under the age of atleast ten to see this movie. It's more for teenagers and adults to watch. The Cell is the best horror movie of the summer and the year. The Cell = FIVE STARS!
