Summary: Dripping with Cheese -- I Love this Film
Review: John Carpenter is the current master of the cheesy horror flick. This film is great -- a creepy lighthouse, a pirate's treasure, ghostly undead, and -- of course -- the fog. Some of Carpenter's "repeat offender" actors are in the film, including Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Hal Holbrook. The dialog is a bit contrived at times, and the ghostly pirates move a bit too slow, but it's all in good fun and builds up the suspense. Naturally, the sound effects are classic Carpenter and add to the ambience, if that's the right word to use. You can't go wrong with this film if you like good old-fashioned scary stories or if you just like Carpenter.

Summary: has everyone gone mad???
Review: This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and trust me I have seen many! Phantom pirates kill and mutilate people for a piece of driftwood!
If you're a fan of the movie fine but at least be honest with unsuspecting buyers. If your looking for a great story and lots of chills this is NOT the movie you are looking for. If you want chills without the gore try The Others.
If your searching for blood and guts watch the remake of House on haunted hill. Both movies are so much better than this one!

P.S. I gave it a second star ONLY for Jamie lee Curtis presence, and performance!

Summary: It's about time!
Review: What can I say about "The Fog" that hasn't already been said except that it's about time one of my favorite Carpenter films (besides The Thing) is coming out on DVD with a load of extras as well. I love the way that Carpenter throughout the film (except for a brief second almost at the end of the film)never shows you the faces of the "ghost Creatures" but insteads lets the music, atmosphere and foggy effects leave it to your imagination. If you love horror films, then rush out and buy this DVD. Now if only a company will bring out the original "King Kong" on DVD with a load of extras will make my horror DVD library complete. Woo Hoo

Summary: One of the best ghost stories ever!
Review: It's hard to believe that the same John Carpenter who produced three of my favorite fright flicks ever (Halloween, The Thing, and The Fog) could, in 2000, make something as dismal and unwatchable as Ghosts of Mars! Well, if those classics are his legacy, then so be it, because they are three of the best. The Fog is one of those neat, atmospheric and spooky little horror movies that nobody cares to make anymore - or if they do, they ...it up with fake-looking CGI monsters and cuisinart editing geared toward the short-attention spans of the MTV generation. So thank God they are finally dusting off this classic and giving it the real DVD treatment! I mean, I've had this on VHS tape for many years, but to know that I'll soon see it in 2:35 ratio, in crisp digital sound + vision, well, I can't wait! A Carpenter, and genre, classic!

Summary: It's About Time for MGM to rediscover this Gem!
Review: I have to admit, I like this film even better than Halloween. A tight script and worthy cast are both good for starters. Most of all, however, it is the absolutely superb photography and atmosphere (courtesy of Director Carpenter and his wonderful Director of Photography)that makes this one a classic. Most all of the performances are good--particularly Hal Holbrook and Janet Leigh. Only drawback is Adriene Barbeau as the heroine, who presumably got this role in true Sondra Locke-like fashion from then director/hubby Carpenter. I've never seen her give an unaffected, unmannered performance, including this one. Jamie Lee Curtis, from Carpenter's earlier Halloween and here relegated to a supporting role, would have been much better in the lead.

Summary: Great Carpenter eye candy
Review: By far this is carpenter top notch stuff. This is the ultimate in ghost story telling with a musical score that's equally haunting.With-out a doubt my favorite horror film also one of my favorite movies in general.Ironicly enough " The Retun Of The Living Dead " (1) is also coming out the same day on DVD.That closes a big chapter in my most requested DVD must haves.Awsome.

Summary: It's About Time!
Review: I owned this film a few years ago on laser disc and sold it when it became apparent that the medium was gasping it's last breaths. To my disappointment, this was one of a large number of films that I was unable to replace with DVD. While "The Fog" has been available on VHS for many years, the few of us who have had the privelege to view it in wide screen format can attest for the fact that you have missed half of the story if you've only seen the full screen version.
I'm also happy to see so many positive reviews for this film, which I've long considered to be a grossly underrated horror classic. John Carpenter (who's films tend to be hit-or-miss at best) is right on the mark with this film: his cinematography is at times serene and lovely, at times tense and frightning. His standard electronic score is as unnerving here as it was in "Halloween" and "The Thing." And the cast...! Adrienne Barbeau finds a career defining role in Stevie Wayne, the lighthouse-keeper DJ who watches over the residents of Antonio Bay from her lookout on Spivey Point. The mother-daughter pairing of Jamie Lee Curtis and Janet Leigh is noteworthy, although the two share little screen time together. John Houseman and Hal Holbrook deliver interesting cameos, as does John Carpenter himself as Bennett, the janitor at Holbrook's church. My favorite character, however, is Sandy Fadel, the painfully bored assistant to Leigh's councilwoman, played with plenty of dry wit by Nancy Kyes (also a reteaming with Curtis - Kyes played Annie in "Halloween").
This films arrival on DVD is long overdue... if you haven't already seen it, you're in for a treat!

Summary: The FOG rocks my world!
Review: I've been a huge Carpenter fan for many many moons, and this, in my opinion, is one of his best works. Not very graphic (with a few exceptions), but the kind of edge-of-your-seat nail-biting that can't be accomplished with mere images... in this movie the implied horror is so much worse than anything they could show on the screen! This movie made me fear a harmless thing like fog! In short, THIS MOVIE ROCKS.
