Summary: DVD Technology Comes Through, Again
Review: If you're a fan of "The Fog", then you will love this DVD transfer. The picture quality is much better than the VHS and the extra's are good additions. If you like the horror genre, but you've not seen "The Fog", then you'll probably enjoy this flick. It has all the scares and suspense without the profanity, nudity, and gore. Plus, there's actually a story with decent acting instead of some contrived collection of events that puts together a mis-matched group of teens who have no common sense.

Review: i received this dvd the day it came out and i must say was very very impressed. The picture is awesome, the blacks are very black, and colors and pictures very clear. i was a little worried cause these dvds are usually cheaply made, but his is great. the sound is also very good, and cool extras make this dvd worth more for ($$$) than most ($$$) dvds. OH PS THE MOVIE IS CREEPY GOOD FUN TOOO

Summary: Lock Your Doors...
Review: The town Antonio Bay is about to celebrate its 100-year anniversary. However, its' foundation is built on an old evil curse that is about to emerge and visit the residents of Antonio Bay in a wicked shape. The oblivious residents are preparing for a party, while evil is lurking about in a mist waiting to strike. Lock your doors, close your windows, and do not open the door for anyone. The Fog is an eerie cinematic experience that will present some chilling moments.

Summary: This disc is about as special as it can get.
Review: MGM/UA has done an excellent job bringing John Carpenter's cult classic shocker The Fog to DVD, in fact it's harder to think of something that would make the disc MORE special than it already is. Outside of a boxed set containing poster and/or lobby card reprints there is precious little to add to the mix that isn't already here...well, okay, now that you mention it, isolating Carpenter's score, which was done for the New Line Laserdisc release, would have been a nice touch. What the disc offers is TWO documentaries, one a Mick Garris 1980 fluff piece filled with talking heads suitable for newsclip filler and one called Tales from the Mist: Inside The Fog, which is a contemporary look back at the making of the movie by cast and crew. Also offered up are a fistful of teasers, trailers, commercial spots, poster, stills, and outtakes. Easter Egg hunters will find one by clicking up another notch at the top of the Special Feature menu. The film itself has never looked better, the print is pristine and the widescreen transfer is passable. There are some moments when the outer most image is cut off, but this is a standard problem with the 2:35:1 aspect ratio and does not diminish the viewing experience at all. An essential disc for Carpenter fans. I give it my highest recommendation.

Summary: Run Away from "The Fog"!
Review: If it starts to get overcast in your town and a fog rolls in, you better run away as fast as you can. You never know if there will be dead fishermen coming in to catch some fish. The movie is corny, but has plenty of good thrills only John Carpenter can execute. Good movie. Jamie Lee Curtis and Adrienne Barbeau are in the film. Who cares? I have crucial advice for a person to live by. Watch out for the mad fishermen who died before they were able to catch the 'big one'. I remember riding my bike as fast as I could to escape the fog one time. These old guys were chasing me with fishhooks and fishing poles. Scary stuff, indeed.

Review: I caught this for the first time on a cable movie channel a couple weeks ago. Although I didn't find it all that scary, I enjoyed the overall story and the general "campiness" of an early 80s horror flick. The acting wasn't all that great, but the premise was not bad. Rather than delving too far into the virtues and flaws of the movie, however, I'll discuss the merits of owning the DVD: This Special Edition takes advantage of most of the good features the medium permits--an audio commentary, outtakes, a couple of "making of" featurettes. And these all come at a pretty cheap price. So buy it. Now. Or feel Rob Bottin's fake glowing eyes burning your soul for eternity! Or at least until the batteries run out.

Summary: Pure 100% ghost story
Review: "The Fog" is one of those films that gets creepier with every showing. The plot is a classic ghost story of unrelenting suspense. Antonio Bay is a seaside coast that harbors a deadly past. Centuries earlier, a leopard colony wanted to settle in Antoinio Bay to make a new lives for themselves. A group of people decide to double-cross the group by forcing the ship they were on to crash into the bay and sink with all hands on board. Now the crew have returned from their watery graves to seek gruesome vengeance on the their ancestors. Carpenter's flare for atmosphere goes well and the creepiness is very effective. I recommend "The Fog" to anyone who loves a good ghost story. Note: "The Fog" is coming soon in a "Special Edition" with these features

Summary: Best Carpenter Horror Film
Review: I.M.H.O. this is the best of Carpenter's horror films - including Halloween. Creepy, moody, and beautifully shot, this DVD offers extras not available on the laser disc version that I own. It has to be said that this film is beautiful when presented in the original widescreen format - and should never be shown in the pan 'n' scan again once this edition is released. The film brings together the "lifted" Rio Bravo narrative of Carpenter's earlier film Assault on Precinct 13 - a blueprint that would be repeated in the underrated Prince of Darkness. Still, its done the best here, essentially a remake of Night of the Living Dead in many respects - its still an amazing film. Don't watch it alone.
