Summary: Poor adaptation, even with given circumstances
Review: 'It' really needed a Stanley Kubrick to write the screenplay. Streamline the plot and form it around the central, most terrifying aspect; a killer, shapeshifting creature. Full, uncensored violence in a trimmed two hour movie. Certainly beats out the tacky effects and gimmicks of this TV adaptation- as much as I like Tim Curry, the lines he had to go through ("One balloon not enough? Try a BUNCH!") were barely intriguiny at best. The only scene in 'It' that seemed remotely scary to me -in comparison to the book, mind you- was when It assumed the zombified form of Bev's dad.

One thing screenplay writers need to realize is that, as wry and humorous as King's lines can be on the page, they are almost uncomfortable to listen in his adaptations. I'm not saying the actors and actresses' talents wasted on a lousy script, because no one did a half-decent job anyway. As much as I liked Dennis Christopher in 'Breaking Away' his portrayal of Eddie at best annoyed me. The film's ending was confusing (I feel bad for anyone who didn't read the novel) and less than satisfying... although the novel's finish wasn't exactly Thanksgiving dinner.

It disappointed me all the more because I saw how badly adapted the original text was; I suggest if you've read the book and have yet to see the movie, just stay away. And for anyone else, there are far better, less confusing, much shorter horror movies out there.

Summary: Great Movie!
Review: This movie is starring Tim Curry as a creepy clown named Pennywise and John Ritter as Benjamin 'Ben' Hanscom. A little cheesy at times but all together great!

Summary: One of the Worse Movies ever
Review: Do not waste your time or money. The only reason I continued to watch this movie is because I bought it. I will not even try to pawn it off on someone else just out of pity for them. Bad writing and acting; a waste of my time and money.

Summary: Dissapointing .......if you have read the book
Review: Now "IT" is my favorite novel, and when i heard there was a movie out i was really exciting and as i am watching this i realize there are so many key parts that were in the book that got left out of the movie so if you have read the book you probably won't enjoy this maybe you will but thats just my opinion, now if you haven't read the book and just want to watch a good movie this is for you and the one good thing i really liked was how john ritter(R.I.P) played my favorite character Ben and he played him well. So i believe there to be alot of pros about this movie and tons of cons so watch for yourself and you be the judge

Summary: Well adapted from the book
Review: Since Stephen King's novels are extremely long, the mini series format is perfect for them. Even though SOME things have to be cut out (the author was never stingy with words or overly long descriptions), but this allows the script writer and director to leave enough stuff in to allow them to follow the original story without having to make big changes in the plot line to cover up for things that had been cut out.

This movie has stayed pretty much loyal to the original story - even though the order of events in the book has been changed (in the movie, we first see the kids' story, then the adults', while in the book both are told stage by stage - for every stage the adults go through, we see the kids' equivalent). I thought that the book version was more effective. The cast (which included the amazing John Ritter, which passed away not that long ago) was great too.

Summary: Can't sleep, clown will eat me
Review: Stephen King's mini-series "It" is truly the only movie that still scares the living daylights out of me with the chilling performance of Tim Curry as Pennywise the clown. I remember first watching this when I was a sophomore in high school and getting scared senselessly with the demented imagination of Stephen King. The mini-series (as condensed) as it had to be, pretty much stays faithful to the book. This is one of the few cases where I find myself enjoying the movie more than the book. After I saw "It", I never saw clowns in the same light again. In fact, I now have a slight aversion to clowns, even Ronald McDonald with that bright orange-reddish hair. All I can see is Pennywise growling "they all float down here". Obviously the standout performance in the movie has to go to Tim Curry with his spinetingling performance as the clown from hell Pennywise who really is this spider-like beast who feeds on children every 20-25 years. Annette O'Toole, the late and great John Ritter, Richard Thomas, Olivia Hussey (anyone who has seen "Romeo & Juliet" from the '50s/'60s will recognize an all grown up Olivia Hussey), Tim Reid, Harry Anderson, Jonathan Brandis, Seth Green, and the rest of the cast all give excellent performances in the movie. Some of my favorite moments in the film was when Pennywise was terrorizing the characters as children as well as adults. I loved it when Pennywise shows up in a black and white photo album. And then there was the time, the picture of Billy's deceased little brother started to ooze blood. I still can't believe that "It" is the result of dreams/nightmares Stephen King had over a period of nine years. Simply incredible. No matter how many times I watch this two part mini series, I still get creeped out by Pennywise. Thanks to Tim Curry and Stephen King, I will never see clowns in the same light again. Truly a disturbing movie.

Summary: This Movie Lives Up To The Novel
Review: This horror film about a demented clown who preys on innocent children is great. I recomend it for all horror fans such as myself. It is two parts but the second part is hard to find. I am searching for it at this time and if anyone knows where it is please email me at precizprincez86@aol.com It's a movie you won't regret watching and I would appreciate any help in finding the second half of it!

Summary: Not that scary people...
Review: Not to scary. There are some scary parts, but all in all it's not really that good. This was the first horror film I ever saw to! I saw it when it first came out, and thought the first half was scary, but laughed (even at that age) at the 2nd half. "Kiss Me Fat Boy"-Pennywise has gotta be the funniest line ever! So not as scary as it should've been, so I say read the book. A lot scarier!

Summary: they all float down
Review: my favorite Stephen King book brought to movie besides Dreamcatcher. Tim Curry, who better to play Pennywise the clown then him. he's so awesome in this role. not much of a horror movie then you'd expect, plus its a TV movie. but people who are afraid of clowns beware, Pennywise will scare the pants off you, or not. great cast includes John Ritter(may he rest in peace) as Ben Hanscomb, Annette O'Toole as Beverly Marsh, Tim Reid as Michael Hanlon, Richard Thomas as Billy Boy, Harry Anderson as Richie Tozier, Richard Mauser as Stan, Jonathan Brandis as Young Bill and a everso recognizable Seth Green as Young Richie Tozier. I wanna live in Derry, well where they shot the film anyway. I'd love to live at that place. theres some dry acting in this as well and some stupidparts too, just dont let that ruin the movie for you
