Summary: TIM BURTON FANTASY
Review: Except for the images of a young, industrial New York City, "Sleepy Hollow" is rather lifeless. I too have a passion for "Scooby-Doo Where Are You?", but I deal with it.

Summary: Sleepy Hollow's too Good to Put Anyone to Sleep!
Review: An intense and beautifully mastered tale starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci. Johnny Depp plays the young detective Ichabod Crane, who is sent to Sleepy Hollow to solve a number of murders that have occurred one after another. Crane finds it awfully strange that the head of each slain human is taken, and soon finds out that the murderer is the 20 year old spirit of the Headless Horseman(Christopher Walken), a former Hessian Mercenary who had his head chopped off during the Revolutionary War. Christina Ricci offers a dull and pathetic performance as Katrina Van Tassel, the love interest of Crane. The movie is based on the short story "Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving.

The film offers an unexpected mystery involving the victims of the Headless Horseman (that's all I'm going to say). It also offers several scenes of fairly gory decapitations, and a cameo by former horror actor Christopher Lee as a judge.

With the exception of Ricci, each actor/actress offers a stunning performance. The film offers an edge of your seat plot, good special effects, and magnificent artwork and sets.

Summary: SLEEPY HOLLOW RULES O.K!!!
Review: What a simply marvellous showing by Johnny "Dreamboat" Depp !!!!

How my spine tingled deliciously throughout the film - and goosebumps galore!!!!! For 3 nights after the film, I heard the hooves of the Headless Hunters horse galloping through my dreams........... A Fandabidozy film, only a tad marred by Cristina Ricci as an unfortunately unbelivable love interest for dear Icahabod Crane - (although I ask myself - perhaps a touch of the green eyed monster on my part????). TOP MARKS ALL ROUND!!!!!!!

Summary: I LOVE SLEEPY HOLLOW SOOO MUCH - I'M GOING TO MARRY IT!
Review: I really, really enjoyed Sleepy Hollow - the ten-a-penny 'stab' films they churn out could learn a lot from it. It was so atmospheric - the settings were brilliant - dark and menacing, and even with the humour the tension lasts throughout the film. And let us not forget the GORGEOUS Johnny Depp - even as the bumbling policeman he's such a DREAMBOAT!!! It's a real 'wine, candles, choccies and curl up on the sofa' type film. It'll always have a place in my DVD player!!

Summary: A Perfectly Polished and Cleverly Crafted Horror pic.
Review: "Sleepy Hollow" was a film that came along at Exactly the Right Time. Everywhere us Cinemagoers looked, we saw another Teen Slasher flick Now Playing or Coming Soon. Then Tim Burton brings out This, a Horror film that was Fresh, Original, Brilliantly Brought to the Screen and, most importantly... Scary.

Johnny Depp Reinvents himself once again as Ichabod Crane, A Big City Constable who is sent to "Sleepy Hollow" to solve a Strange Murder, using his Peculiar Scientific Techniques. Said Murder quickly deteriorates into Many, Many Murders and Ichabod starts to give in to the Townspeople's claims that these murders are being Executed not by a Mere Mortal, but by something else entirely. Director Tim Burton and Star Depp have made Ichabod a Truly Original Hero, he has the Will of a Stallion and the Stomach of a 10-year-old girl. He Believes in Reason, but is Surrounded by Superstition. He is a Unique and Treasured Character, the kind who doesn't come along very often. (like "The Dude" played by Jeff Bridges in "The Big Lebowski")

Burton also creates a World of his own, A Nightmarish-Dreamland filled with Magic and Mystery, Darkness and Death. He Stocks the film with Oddball characters that fit the film like a glove, and Oddball actors who fit their roles Perfectly. Burton Regular Jeffrey Jones gives another Eye-catching performance, as he always does, and Christina Ricci (this girl was Born to act in Tim Burton films) gives a Mature and Beautiful performance as Katrina, Depp's Love interest and a girl more Involved in the Mystery than she lets on. 2 more Burton Favourites, Martin Landau and Lisa Marie, give Small but Vital performances and they do Quite well. The One performance that seems out of place is Casper Van Dien's, he is Obviously not the greatest actor, and among all of those Great Talents, he Sticks out like a Sore Thumb. Christopher Walkan is a Striking Figure as the Headless Horseman.

An All-Round Perfect Horror film, for Modern Audiences and for Lovers of Old Fashioned Horror. "Sleepy Hollow" is among Burtons Very Best, which also makes it one of the Horror Genres best, and most Unique.

Summary: This is my favorite movie of all time!!!
Review: After seeing the movie "Sleepy Hollow" which is directed by my favorite director, Tim Burton, I automatically decided that this would be my favorite movie of all time. I really love gory movies and this movie is far the goriest movie I have ever seen (This and Braveheart, of course.) and I was quite pleased at the graphics that this movie brought. My favorite part in the entire movie is when the headless horseman, played by Christopher Walken regains his head. This movie is a must see for anyone over the age of eighteen. (This movie is not recommended for the faint heart)

Summary: Comedy, nothing more
Review: The adds for this movie made it look like a horror movie. I guess they thought horror flicks are big sellers. Wjatever the case, they were lying.

Sleepy Hollow does have a nice location or set. Yeah, it looks cool. The script is not really good but it's not the worst movie I've ever seen.

I'm writing this review mainly to sat that, dispite popular belief, it is NOT scary. The parts that are supposed to be "gorry" are pretty cheesy.

I would recommend this movie to someone who is bored and looking for a laugh. Don't expect too much.

Summary: Use of sets and color are GREAT
Review: Gorgeous sets and powerful use of color are in display for Burton's film version of the short story by Washington Irving. The New York city sets illustrate what life may have been like before 1800, but the minute Depp steps into the Hollow, the sets become more and more menacing. The deer on the posts give the viewer the impression that one is going into a surreal dream-like world. This is accented by the use of color. In most scenes, the color is almost muted, giving a gothic black and white vision to the inhabitants (especially the stranger who is Icabod Crane). While Crane has been transformed from an ugly school teacher to a rational, yet tainted by magic, constable, he is understandable and sympathetic. The color comes mostly during dramatic bloody scenes (although the violence is less than it could possibly be). The performances (especially by Miranda Richardson) are very well done. No, this isn't the scariest version or movie you'll ever see, but the suspense is handled well, and there are a couple of "jump" scenes.

The DVD comes with some extras (rare for Paramount, unfortunately) and while the "featurette" is basically scenes from the trailers, it is nice to hear the director and stars talk about their experiences. The transfer is good, with the film much richer, of course, in the 1.85:1 than it ever could be in pan and scan. There are some notable surprising stars showing up here (Christopher Walken, especially after mentioning the legend in Dead Zone) and overall, a very well done mystery/suspense film. Yes, some critics have roundly criticized the ending, but it does hang with the rest of the film. Four stars out of a possible five here.

Summary: Dark Imagery
Review: For all that it's worth, Burton did a nice job with presentation of Sleepy Hollow. Perhaps the plot and dialogue could have been better if it didn't seem as if it was being forced,
