Summary: Tim Burton filler...(but good filler)
Review: Make no mistake, this movie has a REALLY fabulous cast and that wonderful sense of atmosphere that really draws you into the movie (as nearly all of Tim Burton's films do) and it is enjoyable, BUT all of the above can't help the fact that the story is thin and a bit of a snooze, especially when you consider what Tim Burton is capable of (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks, Ed Wood, etc...)
You will still enjoy this and it won't be a purchase you will sorely regret, but Burton can do better!

Summary: Tim Burton does it again....
Review: Tim Burton is probably the greatest director of this era in film making, and his incredible talents show through fabulously, as well as the talents of the actors, in Sleepy Hollow. As I am a reader before I am a movie watcher, never before have I found a movie which left the original story in the dust liek tim Burtons adaptation of Sleepy Hollow did. It turned on of my old favorite stories into a dazzling movie, with interesting twists which were a releaf from the old "haven't I seen this movie before?" syndrome. Unpredictable and non-stop, Sleepy Hollow is a film I would recommed to anyone.

Summary: Praise for Sleepy Hollow
Review: This is a horror film perhaps like no other. With it's dramatic plot, combined with conspiracy, and flitted with romance, this is a movie you will not soon forget. This unique movie takes you from 17th century(?) New York to a small country farming village with a dark secret, to the young detective's dreams. The setting and line of characters (including the traditional witch and wicked stepmother right down to the well-meaning, but misunderstood amateur spell-caster)is just as original as the cast. The skillful lighting and great resolution lend a hand to the originality. Jonny Depp particularly adds to the enchantment with this well excecuted portrayal of his unusual character, Ichabod Craine. To truly appreciate the long-known Sleepy Hollow legend on screen, you must experience it for yourself.

Summary: A Tim Burton Classic
Review: U can tell this is a tim burton movie, its all dark, and gloomy but it really fits this movie well. Johnny Depp play Icahbod Crane who is sent from New York to Sleepy Hollow to investigate some murders. These murders were made by a headless horseman but some one in the town of sleepy hollow is controlling him. Icahbod must find out who it is before more people die. A great movie but bloody.

Summary: Scarier than I expected!
Review: I have to admit, I did not think this movie would live up to my expectations, but it is really pretty scary, and has a decent plot, too! I was quite impressed by the visual effects, and thought that overall, it was a good movie.

Summary: A superb "revision" of a classic tale
Review: Tim Burton is, in my opinion, one of our great visionary filmmakers, and "Sleepy Hollow" is yet another creative triumph. Inspired by the classic 19th century story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," by Washington Irving, this film depicts a United States that is just about to enter the "modern" age. Constable Ichabod Crane (a superb Johnny Depp) is sent to a rural New York village to investigate a series of murders--killings which the locals claim are the work of a supernatural fiend known as the Headless Horseman.

"Sleepy Hollow" works on may levels: as historical "costume drama," as mystery-thriller, as love story, as fantasy, even as satire. The sets, costumes, make-up, special effects, and sumptuous Danny Elfman score blend marvelously to create an atmosphere that is both creepy and romantic. The filmmakers have assembled an amazing ensemble cast of veteran character actors to support Depp and the luminous Christina Ricci (as Crane's love interest). I was also impressed by Marc Pickering as Young Masbeth, a brave boy who becomes Crane's right-hand man.

Depp is excellent in his role, yet another in a series of oddball outsiders and weird "prophets" which he has played to perfection over the years. Depp's Crane is eccentric, comic, heroic, and very appealing.

I think it's healthy to be suspicious of attempts to make movies out of literary classics. But "Sleepy Hollow" is an attempt that works. The changes that have been made (most notably, changing Ichabod Crane from a schoolteacher to a police investigator) make sense and are handled deftly by the screenwriters. The gruesome violence may be a bit much for some viewers, but I did not find the violence to be gratuitous; rather, it is well-integrated into the overall plot and atmosphere. Overall, an excellent film.

Summary: Johnny how could you?
Review: This movie HAD potential and was interesting up to a point. But basically this whole film turns out to be an infomercial promoting WICCA. This movie blows big time. Yes its got the "original" 90's theme of the evil intolerant Christians vs. the wholesome, good hearted witches who desire nothing more than to spread goodnes and mirth through the use of occult charms and satanic spells. Take my advice - pass on this one and don't let your kids watch it. Pure new age propaganda plain and simple.

Summary: Don't Lose Your Head On This One!!!
Review: Probably Tim Burton's best masterpiece ever since Edward Scissorhands! Great storyline and plot makes this a one hell-of-a-movie. And as for Johnny Depp, he's the show stealer. I would say that this movie has the best of jokes, action and violence thrown into one, given that this movie is rated R. On the other hand, this is a VERY good movie that horror fans should not let go of. Not forgetting Danny Elfman, his score is always, without a doubt, sweeping with emotions. Horror fans, you DON'T wanna miss this! It's a double-whammy blockbuster!

Summary: Way to go Johnny!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Tim Burton has definitely outdone himself with "Sleepy Hollow". I loved reading The Legend of Sleepy Hollow but, the movie is just incredible. I also found it kind of funny especially the number of times Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) passed out. Christina Ricci also puts on a spectacular performance as the lovely Katrina Van Tassel. I give "Sleepy Hollow" 2 thumbs up.

Summary: Critics are stupid, this movie ISN`T!
Review: This is the movie that introduced me to Tim Burton`s phenomenal gift of creating visually stunning films. Though the critics seem to think that he cheats by making everything look good with the absence of other good elements in his movies, as Tim states in "Burton on Burton", "What`s the big deal? It`s a movie, for christ sakes, not a radio program. It IS a visual thing." I`ve always loved the story of Sleepy Hollow and saw it as an incredible movie just waiting to happen-there was always something missing from the story everyone already knew, and Disney turned the moody and dark story into some kind of a big joke with their animation (no offence, I know that Burton himself always LIKED the cartoon.) And when I saw a preview for the movie, looking so dark and crawly and spooky, I was basically trembling with excitement. Well, it surely fulfilled my expectations. Tim Burton does great justice to what The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is supposed to be: spooky, not funny. This entire film looks GREAT, not to mention it has wonderful performances (expecially Johnny Depp, whose role as the nervous wreck Ichabod Crane is worth the entire price of the movie and then some) and some of the best music Danny Elfman has ever composed for a movie. I understand that some people disected the movie into pieces so tiny you couldn`t choke a cricket with them and found all these problems-the ending was too lame, it wasn`t scary, the special effects were cheesy, Miranda Richardson was chessy, yada yada yada. I guess those people just aren`t Tim Burton people; after all, his idea of "scary" is kind of a friendly spookiness. SCARY movies are directed by rain people, but Tim Burton is a snow person. If you get what I mean. So if you`ve seen some other Burton movies and liked them, definitely check this one out. I think it`s one of his best masterpieces.
