Rating: Summary: can only see it once Review: This movie was well written and anthony hopkins and cuba gooding jr. were great. This movie was so sad though. So if your a animal lover like me dont watch the part with the gorillas because you will cry. Other than that part it was so well performed.
Rating: Summary: Rented It. Bought It. Review: This is another of those movies the critics (and in this case, the studio) swept under the rug. I just have to scratch my head and ask, WHY? Despite the mental roller-coaster the film takes you on, at the end it is an excellent Feel-Good movie. Not to mention the EXCELLENT performance of Anthony Hopkins. This is one of those movies that makes you think twice about pausing and going to the bathroom. SEE IT.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Performances Review: Hopkins and Gooding give what is quite possibly the most impressive performance, in my opinion, of the year. If you have anything against either actor, however, I don't reccommend the movie, as 90% of the film centers solely on those two actors. On the other hand, if you're an avid fan of the two (as I am), this is a definite must to add to the collection.
Rating: Summary: Monkey Excrement! Review: The basic plot line is an extended rant against modern society, coupled with an apology for a character who kills other humans in defense of his "better" way of living. In other words, it's an extended apology for the Unabomber. I expected Liberal Hollywood to generate such an apology. I didn't expect it to arrive so quickly, or be so blatant.
Rating: Summary: Misunderstood, Underrated Review: I feel this movie, along with many others it seems, hasn't been recognised by the majority of it's viewers for its overwhelming honesty, and sheer originality. It brings along with it one of the freshest, most intelligent stories of the year, and also its share of flaws. One of the clearest flaws is the unrealistic behavior of some of the supporting characters (esp. some of the insane inmates, the violent guard). If you ignore these mistakes, you will see clearly that Cuba Gooding Jr. carries the film with his ambitious, confident performance, while Anthony Hopkins chews scenery with his powerful, unpredictable turn (his character is nothing like Hannibal Lecter, as many critics have pointed). The messages in this film need to be carefully thought out, because there are plenty and some may be altered due to different people's views. I feel the main message "Instinct" is at least trying to give to us is that the true meaning of freedom, is not having the right to walk free, but having the right to walk free by earning it, by affecting things and others around you for the better.
Rating: Summary: A very good movie with feelings Review: I've found this movie excellent! The actors are very good and I've been really moved by this story. I've seen it with my girlfriend and my parents and they were very happy to have seen such a great movie. A. Hopkins is probably one of the greatest actors of these last years...
Rating: Summary: Good thriller Review: Hopkins and cuba gives good pertformances making an otherwise slow sentimental thriller a watchable one.Definately worth renting.
Rating: Summary: Must see! Review: This is a very powerful and moving story. I was surprised at the emotion the movie stirred in me. I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: instinct Review: great thought provoking movie, with great acting.very emotional film with a majical script (hopkins lets u live his part).ranks along side my favorites....12 monkeys, con-air & silence of the lambs. damian curtis
Rating: Summary: Good performances make dull film watchable! Review: Both Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding turn in very good performances which unfortunatly do not elevate this movie above boredom levels. Possibly worth renting once, but I would not recommend purchaseing. The screen story is so predicable I found myself thinking 15 minutes ahead of what little involvement the movie offers.
