Summary: Doesn't deliver as much as it did back in 1979
Review: This movie is very tame by my standards. It's not as scary as I was hoping. Don't get me wrong this movie is scary, and so is it's sequel, but this one dude at work kept telling me that this was the scariest movie he's ever seen. So I thought, "cool, I should check it out." Cuz if someone tells me a movie is scary and gonna get isolated in a room at midnight with the lights out and I will want to get scared. I also watch movies with an open mind. I don't expect anything. I just let the movie tell me it's story and not try to figure it out before the end. Movies are better enjoyed that way, especially horror movies. So if you're are going to watch this leave all expectations at the door, and turn the lights off and prepare for a few good scares. WARNING: This movie isn't as scary as Halloween or The Exorcist, but it is decent.

Summary: ONE OF THE ALL-TIME GREATEST
Review: This film is, no doubt, one of the top 10 greatest horror film classics of all time. Need I say more? When you watch this film, you will be scared. Both before, and afterwards. This is a must-have for any fan of horror! You will not be disappointed.

Summary: DISAPPOINTING THRILLER....
Review: After a shattering opening 20 minutes or so, this promising thriller bogs down in the search for a child killer and a boring psychological depiction of the killer's motives. Yes, he's really sick. But aren't they all? Carol Kane is fine as the terrorized baby sitter trying to start a new life years later with children of her own but by then the thrill is gone. Charles Durning turns in another rubber-stamped weary cop turn and Colleen Dewhurst is wasted as a barfly who has a close encounter with the killer. And she has a VERY long walk home that makes you wonder why she didn't just call a cab. British actor Tony Beckham is OK as the killer, but how much sympathy are we supposed to give this guy? Not as much as the film tries to get us to that's for sure. This was followed by a TV sequel years later that's even worse. I can't recommend either one. If you really want to see either---just rent'em.

Summary: when a stranger calls finally out on dvd
Review: I Saw When a Stranger Calls when it was originally in the theatre, it scared the mess out of me and i loved it. It had been out of print for quite a while then i heard it came out on dvd and i thought it wouldnt hold up cause all the prints i saw were pretty bad. But dvd once again proved me wrong,it was real crisp and sharp and sounded better than ive heard in years. I highly recommend this movie its a nail bitter and it just gets better on dvd

Summary: 30 Minutes of Great Suspense!!!
Review: After watching "Terror in the Aisles" I decided to rent When a Stranger Calls. I wasn't disappointed.

The first 20 minutes of this film are worth the price alone, they are without a doubt the best and most suspenseful moments of the film. This, however, is a problem in that the movie never capitalizes on the beginning and really doesn't get any more suspenseful. The last 10 minutes of the film are also good. The hour or so in the middle, on the other hand, is rather drawn out and really has nothing to do with the first 20 minutes or the last 10 minutes of the film.

When a Stranger Calls, overall, is a good movie and is very eerie and creepy. I just feel it could've been put together a bit better. They should've saved the best moments of the movie until the end. I do feel that When a Stranger Calls is well worth a look but you should view it before you buy it.

Summary: Great old suspense
Review: It certainly keeps you on the edge of your seat and jumping. It could happen, makes a parent think.

Summary: I'm still scared
Review: I just have to say that this movie scared me to death. The opening and end scenes were among the most frightening in this genre. I did think that the movie seemed to stall for awhile, but felt the slump was worth it when I saw the end. Too bad the beginning and end couldn't be edited together with a shorter middle. Otherwise, it was terrifying and I'd really recommend those of you who haven't seen it to buy it and watch it (with the lights on).
