Summary: Presumed Innocent
Review: Presumed Innocent directed by Alan J. Pakula is an interesting mystery with a surprising twist. As always, Harrison Ford shows his great ability of acting. He is obsessed with an ex-lover that is found brutally rapped and murdered. Being in charge of this case leads him to information he never knew. Strangely through the movie, the evidence is pointing to Ford, but is it all set up? Was Ford framed, or did he commit this upsetting crime. Would a lawyer who knows what can happen to someone who kills someone leave evidence like what was found behind? Ford is removed from the prosecutor's chair to becoming the defendant

The murder was committed obviously by someone who was upset, right? Why would someone kill a beautiful lady, and what did she do to make someone so hurt? Well, it's hard to figure out who it could be when she had so many ex-lovers she could have upset. How far would a person go to get what they want? What would someone do for love?

If you like mystery and being your own detective, you would like Presumed Innocent. Is justice always fair or are there still cases that are never figured out?

Summary: Ohboy, ohboy, ohboy!
Review: Scott Turow is just simply an outstanding legal thriller author, and, IMO, this is still his best. It's ambiguous, sneaky, freaky, scary, and realy believable. A lovely and very seductive lawyer is murdered, and it becomes clear she's been having an affair. Then, much to his amazement, damning evidence points to the prosecuting attorney (played awfully well by Harrison Ford) as the prime suspect, esp when his superior (and a possible other suspect) sets him up for the fall.
And then there's Ford's odd possibly mentally ill wife...
Super good all the way through, and it'll keep you guessing as long as you don't read any reviews that give it away.

Summary: Infidelity, seduction and murder
Review: Seldom is the incomparable Harrison Ford in a project that doesn't score, and this 1990 thriller, adapted from author Scott's Turow's best-selling book, had audiences flocking and critics raving. Little wonder, given that director Alan J. Pakula historically goes for the intellect ("All the President's Men") and manages to get the most from his actors. Here, Ford is deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich who lives to regret allowing himself to be seduced by a stunningly but venomously beautiful fellow prosecutor (Gretta Scacchi). The self-serving and manipulative lady turns up brutally murdered, and circumstantial evidence rooted in his affair with the deceased points to Sabich as the prime suspect. As Sabich's meticulous and ever-so-ethical attorney, the late Raul Julia is brilliant as the craftsman who dismantles the state's case because of shoddy investigative work and despite his client being set up by his own boss and second main suspect (Brian Dennehy). Despite his exoneration, Sabich's career is nonetheless destroyed and his family life in on thin ice. As Sabich's long-suffering but devoted and faithful wife, Bonnie Bedalia is a fascinating study piece, and the punch she KO's her husband with may not be so much a shock as is her monologue at film's end. "Presumed Innocent" remains a classy thriller that, with Pakula's intelligent guidance, keeps us guessing throughout while, at the same time, maintaining the possibility that the accused actually did it. For Ford, his performance soars to its usual lofty heights.

Summary: Clueless and clever
Review: The movie, Presumed Innocent, left me clueless but anxious about a nearly unsolved murder mystery until the final act! The chronology sequence with flashback scenes just keeps the viewer guessing who did the murder. I recommended it to a close friend and drew the same great feedback. I gave the movie five stars.

Summary: Scott Turow won big here when they signed Ford
Review: These is a brilliant story and screenplay. But what really makes it so successful and suspenseful is having the heroic (as least as he is perceived on the screen) Harrison Ford here.

Summary: Art Imitating Life?
Review: This 1990 movie shows how a slick lawyer gets an obviously guilty defendant freed by attacking the validity of DNA evidence. "Obviously guilty" because he was at home and had no alibi for the time of the murder. It also shows how the criminal justice bureaucracy works: politics, personalities, and rivalry between cliques. Just like in a corporation?

It is fiction, but the author worked for many years as a prosecutor in Chicago. The author also has the literary talents to use his life's experience. Any resemblance to a later real event is only a coincidence, of course.

Summary: SOLID ADAPTATION FROM A BEST-SELLER
Review: This is a rare occasion when a book was decently adaptated to Hollywood screens. Ford was certainly well cast for the main role. Raul Julia (unfortunately in one oh his last roles before dying) is great too, as Ford's attorney.
