Summary: HOW BAD CAN A MOVIE BE?
Review: I can't beleive all the positive reviews for this movie! What movie is everyone watching? Certainly not the one I watched.

Angel Eyes is as bad as they get. Pick a plot. All of them stank ---poor writing, and poor directing to boot. I don't blame the actors. No actor could have saved this dog.

This is a good example of a movie that should have never been made.

Summary: Despite the silly DVD cover, this was a good movie!
Review: OK, I'm no big "J Lo" fan. Yeah, she's gorgeous and all that, but she's not the best actress around. (Proof: The Wedding Planner). I was turned off by the cover of this DVD and passed it up simply because it looked like J Lo fluff. Then, lo and behold, I catch the movie on cable and it's GOOD! Just goes to show, don't judge a package by its cover. This is not classic cinema by any stretch of the imagination, but if you're looking for a decent movie to pick up and watch with a loved on, this is a good choice. The love interest in this movie (whose name escapes me but played the son in Frequency) almost outshines Jennifer Lopez. Lost in a world of pain (I won't give the story away), his searching for a way back to "real life" is a compelling story and, well, hey, if I had Ms. Lopez kissing on me, I'd find a way back to real life, too! OK, so it's a bit of a hokey romance, but the plot moves along at a nice pace, the subplot about her relationship with her wife-beating father gets a bid melodramatic, but overall, this is a nice little movie. I'd normally give it three stars, but I saw it this weekend and it was on again last night and I sat through it AGAIN, so anything I can sit through twice deserves a little extra credit.

Summary: a pleasant surprise
Review: Jennifer Lopez seems to be two different characters in her real life. She is a dynamic dancer/singer with a mediocre voice whose sexiness makes her adored as JoLo by the tenny bopper set(of all ages). Then there is the acting side of her talent that is underrated and tends to be pushed into the background. It's a shame because this woman can act. Attractive women have pointed out over the years that beauty and sex appeal do not always work in their favor. I hope JoLocan overcome her "handicap". She shines in this movie as does her costar Jim Caviezel. It's a serious movie about love and loss, about family and suffering, that's worth a watch. The supporting cast does a good job, especially Shirley Knight, who always manages to add to the picture in her cameo-like roles. The soundtrack is also excellent. This film is a little slow in parts and it lacks the usual portions of graphic violence and nudity so some will be disappointed. I was not.

Summary: my favorite movie
Review: I loved this movie so much. Very real and well-made. Jennifer Lopez and Jim Caviezel turn in some awesome performances as two people, isolated in their own ways, trying to reach each other. Caviezel is Catch, the mysterious man who seems to walk around aimlessly while Lopez is Sharon Pogue, one heck of a tough policewoman who has been hurt by problems in her own family, especially with her father. Overall, a very worthwhile film that I enjoyed. You've got two very promising actors here--strong, consistent, and always in character. They brought a lot to this movie, and I recommend it.

Summary: Nicely played
Review: Good performances by Jennifer Lopez and James Caviezel. I'm totally convinced of Jennifer Lopez's talent and star quality after seeing this one. The girl's got it! A perfect rainy day movie.

Summary: good performances all around
Review: Jennifer is excellent, some people need to give her a chance because in this movie, she is an actress. Jim Caviezel is very charming. Sonia Braga is terrific. Don't expect a ghost story/romance, just watch it. It's a regular romantic drama but it's also quite out of the ordinary.

Summary: Okay, disapointing
Review: This is one of the most disapointing movies of 2001, it has no character to it! It's just plain sad, and bad! It's just a love story between Lopez and a guy! Well, it kinda really sucked!! No delight is brought to the screen, everything's serious and boring, I've seen worse, but this is bad! It was a good try and parts of it were a bit exciting, like the chase! Anyways, skip this movie, no good!!

Summary: Not What People Think
Review: The issue with Angel Eyes is that the company that edited the preview for it didn't do their homework. It comes across like some supernatural
piece in the preview but is more like the Prince of Tides. This is a great film about trauma, love and relationships. Knowing a bit about this type of thing I thought they did a great job of showing these individuals' pain and the way they hid from it. Life is hard. Down right savage and they portray this well. I actually thought he was going to be a fallen angel or something mysterious like that but I was satisfied to see that he was a loss soul like the rest of us out here trying to find his way. Jennifer Lopez is a decent actress. I loved her toughness but vulnerability at the same time. She was a cop and had a job to do but was still a woman with needs. The way they find each other and come together is unique in most films today because James Caviezel's character obviously has issues but Jennifer still gives him a chance. She is patient with him. I liked that because we to easily dismiss things we don't understand.

Summary: What....no ghosts!?
Review: I am so weary and tired of reading 'silly', lightweight and shallow comments about this movie (though not too many on this site). Stupid comments such as 'the sixth sense was a much better movie' are laughable. The trailer for this movie was edited by a company who didn't quite know how to 'sell' it. They implied strongly that the movie involved a link with the spirit world and coupled with the title this attracted the 'wrong' audience. As a result this touching movie experience was slated by the critics and bored thousands of guys who thought they would be able to cuddle and protect their girlfriends during a spooky cimema experience. Instead they wished they'd brought a clean hankerchief to wipe their girls tears. Be certain of one thing, this is a superb, realistic, human drama, which has a tender, sensitive, and in many ways 'sad' story to tell. I am not spoiling anything by telling you that ghosts and the undead are 'never' implied in any scene. Those of you who need to be spoon-fed a story, or require explosions every few minutes, or sit patiently waiting for the big slam-bang fanale, will not enjoy this movie. Too many others have written very mature and deep reviews about this movie and I think it pointless to repeat much of that. But I will say this; Angel Eyes is a great achievment and it effortlessly touches the soul. Human drama's can sometimes be boring and tedious and ultimately uninvolving. But if you allow this movie to carry you without trying to pre-guess the story, then you are in for a truly delightful treat. Oh and you women out there....it might be an idea to have a box of tissues handy...

Joe.

Summary: Is there a plot here somewhere?
Review: Where exactly is the plot in this movie? As a showcase for J-Lo, it's fine; as a movie with something interesting to say, it fails miserably. Don't waste your money.
