Rating: Summary: Strong directing , but emotional not balanced Review: A Young and upcoming lawyer played by Matt Damon is going to fight justice against his veteran colleges . A familiar grisham concept this time directed by Coppola who achieved to bring the story of the book on screen, but at the same time he could not get more depth in some of the major characters simply because Grishams storys have more deepness in the issue where the people struggle about then on the characters itself .
Rating: Summary: Expected more Review: After reading the novel I ran out and rented this movie. I thought that such a great book will also be a great movie... not even close. The movie was did not live up to what I expected, it cut out a lot of what was great about the book and how it built up to the events that took place. My advice to you if you want to see this movie, see it first then read the book, you'll see what I mean.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: The Rainmaker is an honest, straightfoward, and sensitive film about a young lawyer in Memphis who happens to become involved in a David & Goliathesque lawsuit against the insurance company Great Benefit. The plot is predictable. It is the acting that makes this such a great film. Matt Damon and Claire Danes present their characters in a convincing and sincere manner, as do DeVito and Glover. This is perhaps one of the few films I have seen in which there isn't some actor who drags like lead. An excellent movie overall, I'd recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: For a Rainy Day Review: John Grisham's The Rainmaker marks the return of quality moviemaking in the career of Francis Coppola. In recent years, the grand old man of American cinema has strayed into material far beneath his potent skills. Note the recent Jack or his inane, overwrought take on Bram Stoker's Dracula. You wouldn't think that another Grisham novel would be Coppola's ticket out of the mud, but it is. Maybe he has more of a stake in the project because he also wrote the screenplay. But whatever it is, this tale of a greenhorn lawyer and his quest to do the right thing makes for entertaining, thoughtful drama. The acting in Rainmaker is first-rate. Sure, the faceless corporate bureaucracy is an easy target-it always is in this kind of movie-but the detailed and subtle writing enables the cast to create believable, interesting people.
Rating: Summary: havent seen the video but i know it doesnt do justice to the Review: extremely excellent novel. at least a 3 time read.the characters, the plot, and how mr grisham ties them all together is an artwork in its own
Rating: Summary: HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES IV EVER SEEN!! Review: This movie really captures your heart and soul. I cant even begin to tell you how much I loved this movie, This is diffinately one of the best films Iv ever seen ! I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Good cast but shallow, underdeveloped story Review: There's really not much good about The Rainmaker. The characters are two-dimensional, the storyline predictable, and the whole subplot with the admittedly always-fabulous Claire Danes seems to be stuck in there for either downtime or romance, for it in no way relates to the story. However, as shallow as the characters were, the first-rate cast worked relative wonders with them. If you're a Matt Damon or Claire Danes fan, you might want to check this out; otherwise, just read the book.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: Rudy Baylor is a young lawyer who has stumbled upon the biggest fraud case in history. While assisting the Black family with their lawsuit against Great Benifit, Rudy is also drafting a new will for his landlord, rescuing a young woman from her violent husband and helping his partner pass the Bar Exam. 'The Rainmaker' is an amazing movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Matt Damon is perfectly cast as Rudy Baylor and Danny DeVito is hilarious as his partner, Deck. The music score by Elmer Bernstein is a gem.
Rating: Summary: Claire Danes Review: I must confess I watched this movie only because of Claire Danes, that's one of the best best actresses of her generation. She's also so pretty and sweet, that it makes it worth watching this movie, even if it's not so good.
Rating: Summary: Just great Review: I think this is the best book of John Grisham (of course, I also like The Firm, A time to kill and The pelican brief). But no "hero" is as cute as Rudy Baylor!!! And Matt Damon is the best actor to play this part. And with Danny DeVito and Claire Danes this movie became one of the best in the last few years.
