Summary: Perfect
Review: Not much to say about a film so good. Frank Darabont is an absolute genius and the film itself is a masterpiece. The actors are in the film 100%. Everything is in place, it's part of this great composition. The music is great. Ok... the story's not so genuine, but beside this it's an absolute classic for everyone, (Except for those who don't watch hard movies)

Summary: One of my favorite films of all time!
Review: I first saw this movie one night on cable when I was channel surfing. However, I only saw the last 45 minutes. Even that short amount of time, though, I was blown away by this fantastic film. The next day, I went out and rented this film and loved in even more. This is arguably the greatest prison film of all time and is worth the time you spend watching it. I have to to say shame on Leonard Maltin for claiming that this film is too long. I could have watched another two hours of this great film. I love this movie and (sorry Forest Gump) it should have won Best Picture. Had it been nominated in a different year, it would have swept the Oscars. A great adaption from a great author. A must-see!

Summary: An eNORmous movie
Review: I saw this late last night and, as normally happens with a good book, am still savoring the sheer, sweeping beauty of this wonderful movie.

Some things that stay in the mind are the patience of "All things come to those who write" Andy in making his escape, the lovely voice of Morgan Freeman, and the amazing shot of the Pacific at the very end.

Summary: The Shawshank Redemption
Review: An absolutley fascinating film about a man who claims he is innocent and is sent to prison. He meets a man named Red, and their adventures in this movie are like no other ever portrayed on film. It goes from its captivating beginning and just keeps getting better and better. Not one to be missed for the emotion presented by Robbins and Freeman. The films happy ending is also a major upside along with the moment where the warden throws a rock at a poster revealing a large hole in the wall behind it. Based on a novella by Stephen King in the same book as STAND BY ME. Not one to be missed!

Summary: One of my favorites. A masterpiece!
Review: I've seen this movie about eight times, and that's saying a lot because I usually won't sit through a movie this long. The story is about a man, Andy Dufram played by Tim Robbins, going through hell to come out on the other side as a better man. It's narrated by Morgan Freeman's character, Red, who befriends Andy in prison. There is profound drama, violence, and moments of humor in the movie. Everytime Andy beats the system you want to laugh and cheer. When you get to the end, you realize that Andy was a lot smarter and stronger than people realized.

This movie is comparable to the Green Mile because of it's "wrongly accused" prison theme, but a better comparison is Delores Claiborne, also by Stephen King which also reveals the wrongly accused theme and then redemption at the end. Both were good stories that adapted well to film. I highly recommend Shawshank Redemption and Delores Claiborne for viewers who enjoy high quality drama and acting.

Summary: quite possibly my favorite movie ever
Review: I've seen this movie countless times. possibly over thirty times, and that's being conservative. hell, i've got most lines memorized. yet each time i see it, it is more captivating; it never ceases to move me. the relationship between Red and Dufresne is one of the most intimate and honest in recent film, yet it is interesting how Andy, who seems to know everyone else, is really a mystery; even Red learns about him until the end of the movie. see it!

Summary: My Favorite Movie
Review: I saw this film for the first time on DVD, my interest having been thwarted by the title at the time of its theatrical release. Oh my goodness. Turns out, the title is perfect. Shawshank Prison IS redeemed. This film is powerfully moving and completely captivating. It is a story that will grab at your heart and not let go. The acting is superb, some of the best I've ever seen. I think about it when I wake up in the middle of the night and often find myself analyzing situations from the film and trying to figure out why this or that worked out the way it did. This is an absolute must-see. Wow.
