Summary: One star is too much for this horrible film
Review: This is the absolute WORST movie I have seen in a long time. I can't even think of a single movie that I hate worse. BAD BAD BAD acting. (Johnny Depp....what more can you say). BAD BAD BAD storyline. I just wanted it to have a good solid ending to make me feel better about wasting 2 hours, but even that let me down. Don't waste your money renting it or buying it...unless you need a sleep aid.

Summary: Actors save the day
Review: The biggest problem of the film is, that there are no new ideas in the story. There are a lot of holes you can't ignore, a lot of incidents you can predict. The Ending too is not very surprising. Most of all, I ask myself why the things that happen are so bad. What is so bad about the twins? I couldn't find anything. For me is a lot senseless. But there are also good things in the movie: Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron are great (as usual). They made me forget that there were so many bad things about the film. There are also a lot of exciting scenes, that have the right tempo. But all in all, I wouldn't recommand "The Astronaut's Wife" to my friends. Only the actors save the day.

Summary: Astonauts Wife
Review: I was expecting much more than this pitiful excuse for a movie. The only thing I kept looking foward to was the end of this film. The acting was poor, the story line was pathetic, and the director attempt to wow us with wierd camera angles and annoying sound effects just made me hate this movie more. This movie is one of the most boring films I have seen recently and would not recomend anyone wasting their time watching it.

Review: Bad acting, bad story, and a bad idea

Summary: a dud of a DVD
Review: This movie is such a major letdown and the astronaut's wife being in one word S-T-U-P-I-D. let me just say that Charliz Theron looks worse in this movie than in all her films to date, and i think she's a major babe! not in this film with her Mia Farrow haircut she has only her acting and story to rely on and that's not much! The other astronaut's wife played by Donna Murphy in this movie is the only thing i liked about the film, in fact i would rather seen it have been her character that is shown being impregnated with the alien children, she blows away Charliz Theron which normaly should not happen. As for how Charliz character acts in this ignorant film is just insulting to the viewer. She spends most of the film acting like a idiot and when she is told by a former NASA sceintist her husband may be an alien she start's acting like a fool! and spends most of the movie getting everyone killed by her ignorance. For instance when her husband Johnny Depp abuses her, all she'd have to do is call the cops and the alien husband would have been held by the police long enough for her to escape. But no smart character here instead she puts everybody in danger around her, like leaving the storage door which has evidence that her husband is an alien unlocked and wide open! stupid! The DVD is a big dissapointment NO EXTRA'S NO COMMENTARIES ZILCH. The only reason to watch this film is to see the very few minutes of the very beautiful Donna Murphy.

Summary: Astronaut's Wife
Review: The movie picks up pace quickly and soon you are intrigued by the events that happen between Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron. You become involved in the characters and end up on your seat or behind it until the very end. The DVD format of this is crisp and clear. The pause button may be used when parts of the story become too intense. The movie is first rate with brilliant performances by Depp who only surpasses it in Sleepy Hollow. Charlize Theron is sypathetic as the wife of the astronaut who is different in some way. You'll have to see the movie to find out the rest. It's a must-see movie for the year 2000!

Summary: The superb acting makes this film worth while
Review: While many critics had utter distaste for "The Astronaut's Wife," I happened to enjoy this horror/sci-fi film very much. It's a lot of fun, and it has eerie cinematography that really draws the viewer into the film. But the real thing that makes this not-so-original flick worth while to watch is the superb acting from Johnny Depp ("Sleepy Hollow," "Edward Scissor Hands") and the stunning, absolutely magnificent Charlize Theron ("Devil's Advocate," "2 Days in the Valley"). Both these actors are very talented and perhaps at the top of their generation. Joe Morton (veteran co-star of "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and "Speed") also has a small role here, which makes it all the better.

The film is about an astronaut's wife (Theron) who finds out that her husband (Depp) has come back from space and has been posessed by some alien force. He now has plans on Earth for world domination after he impregnates his wife with his alien children. This is where Morton comes in as he desperately tries to tell the astronaut's wife what is happening. The story moves along at a brisk, yet somewhat predictable pace, and it's really only the ending that proves to have any jolt of suspense and breathless unpredictability. Overall, if you enjoy this type of genre, "The Astronaut's Wife" is well worth your time and money to see.

Summary: Recommend this to your friends if you wanna be mean!
Review: I know of someone who told his friends to go see this "really, really good movie called Astronaut's Wife". After seeing the movie, all of his friends wanted to strangle him ... !

I initially had moderate to high hopes for this film, being a horror/sci-fi buff. It was very apparent from the movie's trailer that the story most likely involves the old "alien living inside a person's body" theme, and such was indeed the case. The problem is that the story failed to come up with a new "twist" to this subject to make it even remotely interesting.

If the message still isn't clear at this point, then maybe this will help : AVOID BUYING THIS PATHETIC DVD AT ALL COSTS ! Rent the film and watch it first if you really have to (if only to see Charlize Theron perhaps?) to really understand what I'm talking about. Just don't make the mistaske of spending your hard-earned money on this title.

Summary: I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Review: I watched this movie when it was on TV one night. This was when I hadn't even heard the bad reviews. After it was done I just sat there. Ususally, I can tell I really like a movie by the way it sticks with me. Throughout the whole week, I couldn't stop thinking about it and I knew I had to get it.The acting was fantastic. Sure the plot was well..stupid. But I can't really take any movie with aliens seriously. The reason it only recieved 4 stars was because the ending was awful. I really hate it when a great movie is ruined by the ending. But, what are you going to do? If you are a Johnny Depp fan then you will enjoy this movie. Like I said, the acting was great, the mood was suspenseful and it really stuck with me. That ending is just an unfortunate circumstance.
