Review: I love this movie! It's fun and sexy and fastpaced. This movie has already become one of my favorites. It's a great romance as well as a great mafia story. A movie that you'll want to watch repeatedly.

Review: One of my favorite movies of all time. I bought the unrated VHS version for a couple dollars more and it's exactly the same as the R version, but I've heard that if you get it in DVD there is actuallly a difference...so if you're buying VHS, don't bother to pay the extra few bucks.Anyway, it's a great movie, so buy it! And Gina's hot!

Summary: Excellent film-noir
Review: The Wachowski Brothers (writers of the Stallone/Banderas flick "Assassins") make their directorial debut with this film-noir thriller. Bound is the classic tale of a gangster's moll named Violet (Jennifer Tilly) wanting to escape the business and her mob boyfriend Ceasar (Joe Pantoliano) and enlists the help of her new love interest (Gina Gershon) to do it. Except this movie has a twist. The "handyman" next door, Corky, is a butch dyke who's just got out of prison for the "redistribution of wealth" and redecorating the apartment next to Violet and Ceasar's. Violet, pouty-lipped and husky-voiced, seduces Corky and the two come up with a plan to steal 2 million dollars that Ceasar is holding for his mob boss, and escape from mob life. The plotline, seemingly formulaic, has many twists and surprises for the viewer. Not to mention a steamy love scene between Corky and Violet, surpervised by real-life sexpert Susie Bright (who also had a cameo in the film) to make sure the lesbian scene was accurate. One of the real standouts, besidse the great acting between Tilly and Gershon, is Joe Pantoliano as the gangster Ceasar. His portrayal of the small-time hood is dead-on, and we find that even Ceasar, who is supposedly being screwed over by his mistress and her lover, is also very clever. Over all, I found this movie very exciting and was spellbound when I saw it. However, it is not for the squeamish. There are a few violent scenes, and some persons might find the lesbian sex scene offensive (what I don't get is why?). However, I'd suggest this movie to any fan of 40s-50s gangster movies, and even Tarantino and Coen Brothers fans. Another movie you might want to check out is "The Matrix," which was also done by the Wachowskis.

Summary: My favorite movie of 1996!
Review: "Bound" is my favorite movie of 1996, and one of my ten favorites of the decade. It's a crime movie, a comedy, and a drama all rolled into one. I love it! Most of the movie takes place inside of two adjacent apartments. It almost looks like it could be performed as a live play on a stage. Unfortuantely, this movie didn't get the box office that it deserved. In the city where I live, it was only in the theater for two weeks. And during those two weeks, it only appeared at one theater. I saw it once during the first week, and once during the second week. Each time that I saw it, there were only about five people in the theater. What a shame. I own the DVD of the movie "Bound," and there seems to be some sort of a techical problem. The movie itself plays perfectly. The sound and picture are both perfect. However, on the supplemental audio commentary track, at 52:06, the audio disappears. At 52:23, the audio returns for a fraction of a second, but then it disappears again. The silence continues until 53:17. At this point, the sound returns, and is fine for rest of the disc. During the 71 seconds of silence, the picure is perfect. This 71 seconds of silence only occurs on the supplemental audio commentary track. The regular audio track is perfect. The way that I see it, there are two possibilites. Possibility #1 My particular disc is defective. But if this is the case, then why aren't the picture and the regular audio track also affected? Possibility #2 Every DVD of this movie is affected in this way. But if this is the case, then how come nobody noticed it during the original mastering? In case it matters, I am using a Panasonic DVD A-120 DVD player.

Summary: BOUND to be perfect
Review: Bound has to be one of the best movies I have ever seen in my whole life. Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly make the best on screen duo in film history. I have got to say that the love scenes are hot but its the acting and storyline that really drives this picture.

Summary: Great movie, better the 2nd time around
Review: This is a really well done film, good screenwriting, directing, and acting. The DVD was excellent quality and I really liked the movie better the second time I saw it. It was unrealistic to have all the gunfire in a condo and not have the cops swarm the place. It would definitely not be mistaken for a TV turned too loud. That's really the only nit I could find to pick. Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly really lit (and steamed) up the screen. Buy the unrated version, it's a keeper.

Summary: Brilliant Thriller
Review: Bound is just an astonishingly well written, directed and acted film. The Wachowski brothers showed their flair for visual style that was seen by a much wider audience in the Matrix. The great thing about Bound is that it is a believable thriller. At each moment you could ask yourself, " would I do what these characters are doing in this situation?" If you have common sense, the answer is yes. Most film characters do extraordinarily dumb things so that later on the writer can incorporate their stupidity into a formulaic ending. Bound doesn't fall in to that trap. The "paint" scene for example, is a a great visual image AND follows the plot seamlessly. Buy this film, it is great!

Summary: Gina and Jennifer sizzle.....a great movie
Review: I loved this movie the first time I saw it, and have continued to enjoy it immensely with each subsequent viewing. Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon exude eroticism, love and, above all, trust in one another. As the story unfolds their relationship progresses from a simple lesbian tryst to something so much more profound and binding that they are able to plot together to steal $2 million from Tilly's Mafia boyfriend, brilliantly played by Joe Pantoliano, who steals several scenes. The DVD version I saw is the unrated version, which has some of the more explicit scenes that were cut out of the R rated version initially available in the US. The quality is excellent, but the extras are nothing to brag about. The director's narrative was a bore. The main attraction, however, is the movie itself and it is flawless. Some people are uncomfortable with the premise of 2 women developing a loving, trusting, sexual relationship, but I thought that it was very well done. One of the best movies I have seen in many, many years.
