Summary: De Niro.. Stone .. Pesci .. Vegas .. Need I Say More
Review: Martin Scorsese is a genius. This movie is brilliant. Fabulous cast. Wonderful costumes, amazing performances. Set in Vegas this movie has everything greed, power, lust, danger and not to mention some mobster stuff. If you enjoy mob movies than this one is a mob must. FAB-U-LUS!!! MUST SEE

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: SIMPLY THE BEST!!!
Review: This is absolutely without a doubt the best movie to see if you are interested in the mob, or not for that matter. Robert Di Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone are all at their complete best. Never before has such a film been so realistic, so true and intense as casino. This film is not too long, too boring, the only thing it is too much of is intensity. It is a true masterpiece. This movie will make your emotions run wild. I love it!!! You won't be disappointed, honest.

Summary: Excellent movie about when Vegas was hot.
Review: This movie really takes you down memory lane when it was exciting to go to Vegas. High rollers, beautiful cars and evening gowns. Wonderful cast and it isn't overkill on the violence. Just loved it and one of the few movies you can watch more than once and still enjoy it. Viva Las Vegas!

Summary: Pretty Good Movie
Review: This one doesn't measure up in any meaningful sense to "Goodfellas" (one of the greatest films of all-time).
However I just wanted to voice my sentiments regarding one magnificent scene that gives me a bit of a vicarious thrill; when Pesci's character Nick Santoro (based on the true life mob enforcer Tony Spilotro) confronts the banker: "...I don't think you realize what it is that I do for a living. If I go down to your bank tomorrow and you don't have my money I'll bust your fckin' head open. And just about the time you're getting out of your coma I'll be getting out of jail and I'll bust your fckin' head open again. See, that's the business I'm in..."

I think just about every poor, working class or middle class person has had the urge to sound off to a bank official like that on at least one occasion.

Also Sharon Stone's legs are quite easy on the eyes.

Summary: A great movie, but not a lot of special features on the DVD.
Review: I love Casino. The fact that it's based on a true story is probably what makes the plot so interesting. The movie also gives you a sort of "behind the scenes" look at how Vegas works: the flow of money to the count room, the surveillance security, etc. To top it all off, the cast in this movie is rock solid. Sharon Stone does an absolutely amazing job playing the greedy junky. Robert De Niro is awesome as the ruthless yet nerdy Ace Rothstein (how about those clothes?!?). And Joe Pesci does an excellent job playing the violent out-of-control mobster (similar to his role in GoodFellas).
My only complaint about the DVD is the lack of special features. There's some text about the actors that you can read, but not much else. I remember at about the time that Casino was originally released in theaters there was a story about Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal (the real-life basis for DeNiro's "Ace Rothstein" character) that aired on DateLine or PrimeTime or one of those news magazine shows. It was fascinating seeing the true life character that the movie was based on, but for some reason that footage was not included on this DVD. Why not?

Summary: Crippled American Version
Review: This is a great movie that deserves a better dvd treatment. The layout and features are extremely vanilla. Not since Dracula have I see such a vhs content type dvd. Maybe in the future it will get a proper treatment in a boxset but in its current condition this release shouldn't be purchased to accompany any collection.

Also its important to note that this is not the uncut version. So far the only uncut version of this classic to make it to dvd is the Australian release.

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE OF THE 1990's!
Review: There's just too many good things to say about Casino. Although the movie is kid of long at 3 hours, one never loses interest. The storyline follows Sam "Ace" Rothstein (Robert DeNiro), as a business genius being sent to Las Vegas in 1973 when kids didn't go and everything was run by people you didn't see. Being the brains of the operation, the bosses know that Ace must need muscle to protect him and take care of the dirty work. Everything seems to be running perfectly well until beautiful hustler Ginger (Sharon Stone) Walks into Ace's life. This film brought Robert Deniro, Joe Pesci and master director Martin Scorsese back together with famed writer Nicholas Pileggi (Wiseguy, basis for the 1990 mafia hit Goodfellas). Stone was nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her portrayl of the sexy scarlet turned alcoholic. Casino is a must-see and fans of any mob-style movie like the Godfather Trilogy, Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, etc. Should not miss this!

Summary: A Dark Spot In Martin Scorsese's Great Career
Review: I saw "Casino" because I am a fan of Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro. Scorsese has made so many great movies that I didn't I could ever describe one of his movies as "unmemorable." His three-hour epic "Casino" proved me wrong.

"Casino," which focuses on the rise and fall of organized crime in Las Vegas, is arguably Scorsese's worst movie. Scorsese took on an interesting topic and had an opportunity to create a masterpiece. Unfortunately, he couldn't seem to decide whether he wanted to create a crime picture or a graphic documentary about Las Vegas; a significant amount of time is simply spent introducing shady characters. The film succeeds more as a documentary than as a gangster movie. The movie is overlong by about an hour. The movie also wastes a magnificent cast. DeNiro, one of the greatest living actors, is given little to do as mobster Sam Rothstein. Sharon Stone gives an overrated performance as DeNiro's wife. Joe Pesci simply recycles his obnoxious gangster character from Scorsese's superior "Goodfellas." The great James Woods is given a completely thankless role as Stone's boyfriend. Scenes of violence and mayhem do nothing to make the movie any more exciting or interesting.

Not a terrible movie, but inferior to Scorsese's previous work. For a great Martin Scorsese-Robert DeNiro crime movie, see "Mean Streets" and "Goodfellas."

Summary: very enjoyable
Review: this, along with goodfellas, is scorsese's answer to copolla's godfather. like goodfellas casino takes the opposite tack of godfather, eschewing myth and bigger-than-life storytelling and characters to give us instead the real dirt on the gangsters and the casinos they looted, er, i mean operated. casino isn't quite as tight as goodfellas - after a fast start the story meanders a little in the middle. but it does have some fine acting by the 3 principles, especially stone. de niro plays a staid, 2-dimensional character but gives his usual fine performance. pesci reprises his goodfellas character and he's even more reckless and nasty, if that's possible. and you have to see what happens to him at the end!

an enjoyable film, not quite as tight as its close cousin, goodfellas, but very much worth seeing.
