Summary: THE BEST! A MUST SEE FOR EVERYONE!
Review: The "Green Mile" was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It had such warmth and compassion. The first thing I had heard about it was from my father and he said 2 words "excellent movie". Coming from my father that is a rave. This is someone who said he liked "Titanic" but it "wasn't what it was made out to be." and I loved it. I finally saw the "Green Mile" and was rivited the entire 3 hours. I didn't realize how long I had been there until I was coming out and realized it was 6 o'clock and we had entered the movie at 3 o'clock. I am a HUGE Tom Hanks fan and he did a FABULOUS job and Micheal Clark Duncan did an absolutely amazing job as John Coffey. I can't say enough good about this movie. The best I can advise is that everyone should buy this movie as soon as possible. It is a definte DO NOT MISS. I think anyone who thinks Shawshank outshined the "Green Mile" doesn't understand. Shawshank was a great movie, but the "Green Mile" was absolutely the best I have seen in a LONG time. SEE IT, SEE IT, SEE IT.

Summary: Touching, moving and vibrant
Review: Stephen King has written another gem that was destined to fly from the pages of his book to the big screen. The cast for this film was perfect on all accounts. You can't help but feel for and fall for the tender-hearted, illiterate hulk, John Coffey. The gentle giant being falsely accused of the horrible murder of two little girls who were sisters makes you think about how we view circumstantial evidence... if I had been at the ficticious crime scene, I would have found him guilty, too.

The twists and turns are pleasant surprises throughout the film and you will remember a little mouse ("Mr. Jingles") for the rest of your life after seeing this film.

The film is not appropriate for young viewers because of the violence, executions, language and other adult themes... but a young teenager has probably already seen and heard everything above and beyond what this film delivers as far as "adult content" on prime time TV.

The film is long, but it never feels as long as it is. The story is intense, however, and I can't imagine watching it over and over again... although DVD helps you jump to certain scenes you enjoy, such as watching Mr. Jingles push a spool across the floor!

Summary: Breathtakingly Fantastic!
Review: I do recommend this video to anyone who likes action, compassion and suspense. The acting was superb from the whole cast. It was very gripping. The John Coffey character, expecially.

Summary: ABSORBING, BUT...
Review: Frank Darabont knows his way around a prison -- he gets the look, feel, atmosphere and assorted characters dead on. The Green Mile, again an adaptaton of a Stephen King story, does not disappoint when it comes to evoking this world. But, unlike the far superior Shawshank Redemption, this movie has, for me, an alienating dose of the supernatural, like Carrie in prison. The human scenes and characters, Tom Hanks chief among them, are so compelling without this extra layer, I cannot help but feel that this movie would have been even more powerful without resorting to the special effect moments of strangeness. It is also bloated in its running time, as if the story was so important that it required three hours to tell; the narrative simply doesn't warrant it. However, these flaws notwithstanding, Michael Duncan is riveting; Bonnie Hunt again delivers a subtle, warm performance as Hanks' wife; the villianous types are villians extraordinaire, and the movie is completely enjoyable on its own terms. A fantasy portending to be something much deeper, The Green Mile is superbly packaged pulp, designed, it seems, for a younger audience, with excellent performances and production values.

Summary: Stunning, Absolutely Stunning
Review: What a performance, Michael Clarke Duncan, was/is John Coffey, how often do we read a book, only to be disappointed by the movie version. Not this time. Again an excellent performance from Tom Hanks, and if you dont have a tear at the end of this film, then you must have been watching something else. This film should be in everyone's collection

Summary: Storytelling At Its Best
Review: I seem to be one of the few people who have not read the book, but in this case it probably did not matter. The story itself was captivitaing enough without the help of an excellent cast. Tom Hanks delivering his usual best, Michael Duncan's performance was awesome. The rest of the prison guards were captivating as well, notably the Percy Wetmore character. By the end of the film ( after over three hours ) I was hoping that the film was only half-way. Beats me why it did not win the best film! If you are only going to buy one movie this year this is the one. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: I love it!
Review: I loved this movie. I also read the book. I actually enjoyed the Movie better. The length of the movie wasn't a problem, it kept you into it the whole time. It was very intense at times, especially during the executions. It was a very unique film. It goes where you wouldn't expect, and suprises you every minute! I love prison movies, and if you do to, I highly recommend this great movie.

Summary: The Best in Years
Review: This was the best movies I have seen in forever. Michael does a stunning job playing John Coffey, a simplie minded black man with the gift of healing. I could almost feel what his character was going thru, as he played the part so well. Make sure to bring plenty of tissue for this one.

Summary: Good film but not worth ever re-watching
Review: "Green Mile" is a solid film. The acting is fine, the writing is fine, in fact there really isn't much to critique beyond the fact that film just wasn't all that powerful. The movie ends and that's just it, it's over and it doesn't have any resonance. It's as if a group sat down and decided to make the perfect movie, but in the process left out the most important thing: heart. I can neither say anything glowing about "Green Mile" nor anything derogatory. It just lacks that special feeling Darabont's last King adaptation had. I would suggest renting the film because one viewing of this well crafted but ultimately unmoving movie is more than enough.
