Summary: well worth owning
Review: I had read The Green Mile series when it first came out and was blown away by the story. You know how when you read a book you form a picture of the characters, the surroundings etc., well the movie was right on the mark for me. Ofcourse it has been a number of years since I read the book so I didn't pick up on the fact that the beginning and the end were not true to the original (as was noted by other reviewers) but the overall feel and atmosphere were captured brilliantly IMHO. The length didn't bother me in the least although in all honesty, I think the movie would have been just as great if it had been a bit shorter. I agree with a number of reviewers who noted that the magical JC scenes could have been done without the "movie magic". The actors would have been more than capable of delivering the same touching performances without the lights and such. But still, this is a great movie.

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: This movie is a very "Stephen King" kind of a movie. Several people who are faced with a unique scenario. In this case, several wardens, who receive into their care a huge prisoner, a gentle giant who happens to have strange and unique powers. The movie is very long - more than 3 hours, but no scene should've been removed, every part has a small meaning which contributes to the larger whole. The casting is superb. The acting is great. The special effects were done with taste. It simply works! Wonderful movie. Go and watch it if you haven't already.

Summary: I Loved This Movie!!!!!
Review: I have no trouble saying that this is probably the best movie I have ever seen. It was intense for the executions, and touching in the parts with Michael Clarke Duncan. I believe that anybody over the age of 14 should go out and buy it. Stephen King's novel illustrates the whole storyline a bit better. My point is, THIS IS THE GREATEST MOVIE OF THE MILLENIUM!!!

Summary: A movie with great emotions
Review: It is hard to believe this movie is adapted from a Stephen King novel. There is no horror in this movie, but a fantastic story about a man, played by Duncan, who happened to have a healing gift and ends up on the "Green Mile" (name given by Hanks of the death row he supervises) after being found guilty for the murder of two little girls.

The question you keep asking yourself during the movie is: Duncan being a gifted man, can he really be guilty of the crime he is accused for? What Hanks can do once he knows about Duncan's gift? Can he save him? And what will be the price he will pay for it?

On top of a story greatly written, the cast is outstanding.

Summary: One of the 10 best films of all time........
Review: I have just finshed watching The Green Mile, and I am just overwhelmed. This is a beautifully filmed and well acted movie. The director, Frank Darabont, who also directed The Shawshank Redemption(also by Stephen King), did an excellent job. He should direct all future films based on Stephen King novels. Tom Hanks, yet again, gives us another fine performance worthy of being ranked with his performance in Philidelphia. But the star of the movie is Michael Clark Duncan. His acting is just excellent, and is very different from the "tough guy" roles that he usually plays. He truly is a "gentle giant", and was worthy of his Oscar nomination and should have won. Don't let the running time of three hours scare you off because this film is so good you will never realize it until the film is over. I highly recommend that everyone buy this movie and when you get ready to watch it, have a box of tissues nearby, because you will need them. This movie is a definite tear jerker. I consider it to be one of the ten best films of all time.

Summary: Absolutely Amazing!
Review: There's only one word I can think of to describe this movie: WOW! This is definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen! Its got it all: drama, action, and even comedy (the whole Mr. Jingles thing is a riot). Basically, this movie is about Paul Edgecomb,(an amazing Tom Hanks) a Death Row prison guard who is in charge of the executions during the Great Depression. Then one prisoner comes who changes his life: a huge black man named John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan is incredible in this role) who is convicted for a horrendous crime. Paul soon learns that John has these amazing healing powers and he begins to doubt that John is guilty. One warning to everyone thinking of seeing this movie: BRING A BOX OF TISSUES. This movie is a complete tearjerker. I have never cried at any other movie like I cried at The Green Mile. If sad movies don't bother you, The Green Mile is SO worth your time.

Summary: Amazing..The Green Mile is Radiant
Review: This film has to be one of the best films ever. I enjoyed it so much because it was very similar to the book by stephen king and the film was dynamic and radiant.Tom Hanks is a brilliant actor but in this film he made magic work amazingly.Michael Duncan Clarke was also very good in portraying his character in a tender and mild angle. I would recommend this to anyone who likes watching tender but intense films. This film is brilliant!

Summary: Doesn't get better than this
Review: I rented this movie, fully aware of all the whining from friends, family, and critics alike saying it was "too damn long".

Well, it wasn't for me. This movie drew me in from start to finish and not once did I think it was too long. It was a powerful, sincere, and extraordinary movie. Stephen King is a master storyteller. And the director and actors did a superb job, all of them.

John Coffey was one of the greatest characters in the movies last year. A representation of human kindness, which I think is rare these days. Like he said, too many people treat each other badly and he can't stand it--it's like shards of glass in his head.

I'm not sure if this movie deserved to beat out "american beauty" for best picture. I think it was a close one. I like both movies a lot.

This movie is a good way to feel better about life and people.
