Summary: Bad Girl
Review: I just watched "Poison Ivy" recently, and after all these years, it still stands the test of time as being a great film. Drew Barrymore gives an intense performance, I love her character in this, and I will go as far as saying this is my favourite performance by her (if not her best?). I love the haunting score with the whole saxophone thing playing whenever something naughty is about to take place. It gives "Poison Ivy" sort of a campy, "red shoe diaries" type of feel. The stroy is also interesting and gripping, and you really want to know what Ivy is going to do next. Drew Barrymore has come a long way, and "Poison Ivy" was the film that launced her mature career to a great start. Footnote: I saw Leo Di Caprio's name in the credits, but don't remember seeing him in the movie, strange.....

Summary: Sara Gilbert & Drew Barrymore Shine...
Review: I rented this movie mainly 'cos I was looking for some Drew Barrymore films. Somehow, I found this one in the drama section. I thought I'd like it, and I was right. This movie first starts off with Sylvie writing about 'Ivy' in her journal. Sylvie wishes they could be friends, because she doesn't have any friend. So Ivy & Sylvie become friends, and Ivy begins basically living with Sylvie and her family. Sylvie's mom is really sick, and throughout the entire movie, you can tell Ivy is trying to take the mother's place. Ivy obviously didn't have anyone that cared about her, and she wanted to be in a family really bad. If I tell you anymore, it'll ruin the movie. In my opinion, the movie was great, and Drew Barrymore and Sara Gilbert made it a very great film. They really know how to act! So if you're looking for a good movie or two to watch & you found this one somehow on this site, rent it or buy it, because it is a great movie if you like Drew or Sara. Hope you enjoy it. =)

Summary: Dumb, dumb, dumb
Review: I will watch anything in which my favorite actress, Drew Barrymore, appears. But this movie is for Drew fans only. The plot is hopelessly lame, telling of the nefarious influence of bad girl Drew on an improbably wealthy Beverly Hills family. There is almost no plot, little of value in the way of character development, and it is pretentious throughout. And unless you're watching the movie when you're about to drop off to sleep, you might find yourself laughing at quite a bit of it. However, the acting on the part of the two principals, Sylvie (Sara Gilbert) and Ivy (Drew), is good--and for that I'll give one star.

The other star I give just for the inspired casting of Drew in the Ivy role. Her classical beauty contrasts nicely with the vixen she is recreating. And Drew is in nearly every scene--an added bonus. But why does she continue, even to the present day, to make movies unworthy of her basically serious and intelligent disposition?

Summary: A Coup D'Etat for Katt Shea Ruben and Drew Barrymore!
Review: Multi-talented, but heretofore little-known, director Katt Shea Ruben scored a brilliant, sudden and unusually highly successful stroke of genius in this highly erotic thriller about an under-privileged girl, newly admitted to a posh private school. Drew Barrymore brilliantly portrays Ivy, a sexy, street-wise and lethal Lolita that will do anything to fit in. Sara Gilbert portrays Cooper, a rich, smart, but misunderstood young feminist in search and need of a friend. Through Cooper, Ivy is ushered into a privileged world, and is instantly intrigued. Cooper's father (Tom Skerritt) is a handsome TV newscaster; her mother (Cheryl Ladd) is a beautiful Beverly Hills wife. Yet tensions in the home run deep, providing license for malice that Ivy is quick to seize. With one quick seduction, Ivy sets off a chain reaction that makes 'Poison Ivy' one of the most provocative and erotic films, of the erotic thriller genre, filmed to date. If you somehow missed this gem, give it a look soon. It is one of those very rare films you can enjoy again and again! Excellent!

Summary: great movie!
Review: Poison Ivy is a great movie, starring a great cast of Drew Barrymore, Sara Gilbert, Tom Skerritt and Cheryl Ladd. It's about a young girl named Ivy who doesn't have much, who meets a friend who has 'everything'. Ivy does her best to fit in with the family... END

Summary: A Hypnotic, Sensually Charged Film.
Review: Poison Ivy is one of those films that can grab you in the opening scene when you see Drew Barrymore swinging on a rope and Melissa Gilbert talking about their relationship together, friends that is. Although alot of people might not enjoy this film, with all the sex and the content of the film, but it is interesting to watch to see just what lengths Drew Barrymore will go to. In this film Drew Barrymore gets taken in by her new best friend, and then things go awire. Her sexual manners seduces the father, and while she is getting to the father, she is moving on the wife as her daughter who understands her life-threatening condition. Her friend doesn't trust Ivy after awhile, so Drew Barrymore(ivy) decides to take matters into her own hands in a tense and manner of seeking revenge to move into the family to become loved by all. This movie may not appeal to alot of people, but it was very good in my mind, because Drew Barrymore is my fav. actress since I was seven. But besides that, if you want to check it out, it will not be disappointing to view, but if it is, I appologize for writing something that says it is a great movie in my mind and not to the viewer.
