Summary: Get this fargin' movie out of here
Review: Poorly acted and relentlessly inane, "Johnny Dangerously" is the spiritual godfather to every straight-to-video comedic disaster ever to star Leslie Nielsen or Dom DeLuise. It lives on in the television graveyard of Comedy Central's off-hours rotation, turning up on the day you call in sick from work when there's absolutely nothing else on...The film flits around looking for laughs, never settling down or hitting any kind of rhythm. Most comedies that go wrong do so because they don't know what they want to make fun of, and this movie proves that in spades: it veers back and forth between lame "it's just a movie" meta-humor, genre parody, anachronism (a parody of a Malt Liquor commercial? Was that *ever* funny?), cringingly unfunny bad taste ... and (mostly) plain ol' goofiness. Sure, the melting pot approach can work -- Zucker/Abrams/Zucker used it brilliantly in "Airplane" and "Top Secret!" -- but to make it work you need actors who know how to play this kind of comedy, and the short answer to that is you play it straight and let the jokes and the situations speak for themselves. The characters in "Johnny Dangerously" act like they know they're in a comedy movie, winking and mugging their little hearts out and smothering any potential humor right in the cradle. The cast gives performances that, in a less forgiving universe, would have ended their careers. Michael Keaton desperately needs that cocky smirk smacked off his face, Joe Piscopo's performance consists of his moustache, and Peter Boyle appears positively relieved to be written out of the film halfway through. And any time Dick Butkus turns up in a movie, it's time to turn off the TV and get caught up on your bills. In fairness, there is one running joke that works: Roman Maroni's famous not-quite-right profanity. Somehow the line "Knock down that wall. Knock down that wall. And knock down *that* fargin' wall" still makes me laugh. So I give it one star.

Summary: One of the all time best comedies of all time!
Review: Sometimes the critics need to let go of their intellectual snobbery and just go with comedic timing. The entire cast of this film works well together, the jokes are funny and some people have been using quotes from this movie for twenty years. That's got to count for something. So go out and buy this movie, you farging iceholes.

Summary: Pretty Darn Good Movie
Review: That guy that played Batman is a pet shop owner. One day a kid comes in to try and steal a puppy, only he doesn't make it out of the store, and is subjected to cruel and inhumane torture... listening to the petshop owner (Michael Keaton) reminisce on his own childhood, and how he went from mild mannered paper boy, to notorious gangster Johnny Dangerously. Of course as he reminisces, the movie flashes back to the era, which is set in the days of Al Capone. This movie has really great dialogue. Whoever directed, wrote, and produced this film, did a good job. I love it, and when I get enough money I plan to buy it. I would not recommend it for the whole family, unless of course you are all over 18 or very liberal. It has brief nudity, action, suspense, adult language, and sexual innuendo. If you like comedies like Blazing Saddles, Naked Gun, or Scary Movie, you'll more than likely love this movie as well. It's a first class comedy in my book.

Summary: Put Simply
Review: The greatest film ever made. I wrote an essay on it to get into NYU film school, and was accepted. Which just proves that it's the greatest film ever made.
Why is Johnny Dangerously so good? I'm not sure. The other reviewers have made a great case for its superb silliness, memorable script, and fun-loving cast.
For me it's just a perfect gem of entertainment. It's not the funniest, or the best acted, or the most acute parody of all time. But are there any films that are more entertaining than this? I say no. And, in the end, isn't that what movies are for?

Summary: Fargin Brilliant !!
Review: This film had me in tears of laughter. Roman Moroni is one of the funniest charcter spoofs Ive ever seen. The humour is totally off the wall but there are some great one liners in there too. Keaton puts in a great performance too in a role I havent seen him play much. Id recommend this film to anyone with a light sense of humour. This film doesnt take itself seriously and once you approach it with this in mind you should feel like I do !!

Summary: Hilarious, from start to finish.
Review: This is a movie I watch over and over again from time to time. There are continuous gags and real laughs in this film. Some of the best belly laughs are supplied by Maureen Stapleton who plays Michael Keaton's plainspoken mother. The humor is irreverent and doesn't let up. Overall, it's a very upbeat comedy you'll enjoy especially if you liked BaseketBall, South Park or some of the better Saturday Night Live shows. I noticed the negative review by the Amazon critic. I have to disagree with him, but see the film and decide for yourself. By the way, if you're a sound bite freak there are plenty of terrific one-liners scattered throughout the movie.

Review: This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I saw it when it first came out, and I watch at least once a month. It gets funnier every time. Don't believe what the "critics" say about it - remember, they are the ones who say American Beauty is great. Rent it - you'll want to buy it.

Summary: Hysterical gangster spoof--a cult classic!
Review: This is one of those movies which will have you repeating lines over and over to your friends. Twelve-year-old Johnny Kelly earns an honest living as a paperboy with his prematurely aged mother and his law-engrossed little brother, Tommy. To pay for an urgent surgery for his mother (the first of a seemingly eternal series), Johnny joins the mob and grows to adulthood as a suave ladies' man. But first, rival crime boss Roman Moroni (Richard Dimitri, who murders the English language and his rivals) (Moroni had a lot of rules for his gang. Number one: never park in his private parking space (explosion)) and later, fellow gang member Danny Vermin (Joe Piscopo) will pay any price to stop him . . . not to mention Tommy, who has just graduated from law school and intends to fight crime, not knowing that his brother runs most of it! Absolutely hysterical. Maureen Stapleton delights as Ma Kelly, and Griffin Dunne turns in an absolutely hysterical straight man role as Tommy Kelly, and is played upon by Johnny (Michael Keaton), Stapleton, and Danny DeVito (as Tommy's crooked boss, District Attorney Burr, who subsequently dies in a beer commercial). Watch for a hysterical performance by Hal Riddle, as an obsequious prison warden, anxious to do anything possible for his celebrity prisoner. (When Johnny asks to have his execution moved up as part of an escape plot, "Fry me tonight!", Riddle replies "Anything for you, Johnny! . . . We'll bump Steinberg. Dangerously will go to the chair tonight.") The plot doesn't make much sense, but don't worry too much about it, you'll be too busy laughing to worry about such things!

Review: This movie features an all-star cast and bigtime belly laughs.Michael Keaton is fantastic as a gangster who is forced into a life of crime to help his ailing mother pay her medical bills.(The funniest part is that he's now trying to go straight).Joe Piscopo had me laughing throughout the whole movie- Danny DeVito,Marilu Henner,and Dom DeLuise all were perfect for their roles.But the best scenes involved the ones featuring Roman Maronie,the Italian clubowner.His butchery of the English language will have you laughing so hard you'll have to pause the tape-he steals the show!Also look for a cameo from former NFL star Dick Butkus.Watch this movie-you'll howl with laughter!
