Summary: SUPERB THRILLER
Review: William Wyler directs Humphrey Bogart in the super tense thriller THE DESPERATE HOURS. Three on the lam thugs invade a heartland American home and hold a family hostage. Everyone seeks survival and an ordinary dad (Frederick March) puts his life on the line for his family. Bogie at his very best as a snarling, deadly con. Heartstopping showdown. Unforgettable climax. You'll hold your breath and bite your nails. This is one to own. See what great filmmaking and storytelling is all about.

Don't confuse this with the pallid 1990 remake starring Mickey Rourke, directed by Michael Cimino.

Summary: 3 men and a family...
Review: William Wyler's 1955 classic has some dated dialogue but is overall a terrific thriller. To summarize the plot, this movie is about a home invasion...Bogie style! Bogart & two other criminals hold Fredric March and his perfect "Father Knows Best"-type family hostage while waiting for the money needed to make their complete escape. Fredric March then tries to protect his family while trying to prevent Bogart's escape at the same time. This is one of those movies where I can't help but cheer for the "bad guys"! The only thing I really don't like about this movie is the annoying brat kid of the family who hardly ever shuts his mouth, even with Bogie pointing a gun at the family! While it's pretty obvious what the ending will be for the three "ruthless" villians, this is a very entertaining classic and one of Bogart's most "enjoyable" villian roles of his career.

Summary: Simply Amazing
Review: With all the thrillers, i've watched till date, The Desperate Hour is truely the king of them all. Humprey Bogart rocks in this movie and while March plans to protect his family with the unloaded gun, the tension grips high times. This is a classic that need to be in every movie collectors shelves.

Summary: A classic nail biter!
Review: Wow! I first saw this film more than 35 years ago when I was about 10 years-old and I've never forgotten it. I guess I related to the little boy in the movie at that time and thereafter was afraid someone might break into OUR house. I stumbled across the movie recently on television and was again captivated by the storyline and acting. This is a fine film - - plot, drama, and wonderful acting still hold up. It's a classic!
