Summary: Great Titanic flick
Review: I've seen A Night to Remember two or three times and, for me, it's the definitive Titanic movie. (The 1951 Titanic was almost as sappy as the 1997 version but at least it had Barbara Stanwyck and Clifton Webb.) A Night to Remember is also a reminder that movie-makers could create good special effects even before computer animation. If you're interested in the Titanic and you don't need a silly love story to appreciate its tragedy, I recommend A Night to Remember.

Summary: Best Titanic Motion Picture
Review: This movie is the best Titanic movie ever made the 1997 film Titanic sucked it was barely about the Titanic it was more of A love story this movie has nothing but the whole Titanic story it is 100% all the way better.Even if it is black and white I liked the way it was directed and the film being black and white made it seem more like what really happend the night of the sinking.

Summary: Best "Titanic" movie ever!!!
Review: I saw James Cameron's Titanic and was disappointed. It never reached the heights that this film did. While on the technical level it was absolutely amazing, that film just never caught the real emotions, all we get are DiCaprio and Winslet looking shocked and scared and guess what, I didn't care!! But with A Night to Remember (still technically amazing for the time!) you get all that. It focuses on many characters and they feel more real than anyone in the Cameron version ever did. Plus it has better dialogue. This Criterion disc is great, with a commentary by two Titanic experts which is very informative. I never usually listen to commentaries (always find them too spoiling), but I always seem to listen to Criterion ones. They're great!! And this one meets up to their standards. Oh yeah! And can we say Cameron ripped this movie off huge in many of it's scenes? Yeah pretty much.

Summary: What a Difference a Script Makes
Review: Forget the Soap-on-a-Boat Cameron version. Although some of the basic suppositions about how the Titanic sank have changed since the film was made, A Night to Remember is considerably more moving and accomplishes more with less. A noble film.

Summary: A movie without pretense
Review: Watching this movie made me feel for those who perished, along with those who survived. An excellent rendering of the tragedy. Kudos to the director who insisted on getting the facts straight. The other two "Titanic" movies' additions of a love story made you care a bit more, but detracted from the other true love stories and the sacrifices made. Truth is always better than fiction!

Summary: No glitz, docu-drama that packs a hard punch.
Review: Keep Hollywood out of the movies! Don't let the age of this film fool you, this is an excellent hard hitting drama, just as good now as when it first came out. There is no fat in this film, no window dressing. One of the best movies I've seen, and THE finest Titanic story yet. See this soon and forget DiCaprio!

Summary: So much better than Titanic
Review: This is the finest version of the Titanic story simply because in this film the star is the ship. As someone else said, Titanic is a love story in which a ship incidentally happens to sink. In this film, the focus is on the real events, not on an invented storyline and imaginary characters. Like Walter Lord's incredible book, on which it is based, the film reflects real eye-witness accounts and verifiable facts, portrayed by a cast that demonstrates what professional acting is all about. If you haven't seen this film, go and find a copy and you'll see why everything else is a pale reflection.

Summary: "Night to Remember" is all true!
Review: The film is well made and keeps me glued to my chair. The people in the film are faithful to the mores of the period, and you see both the heroism and cowardice of ordinary people. The movie is a tribute to what actually happened on Titanic and absolutely riviting IF you enjoy a well-made documentary. Treat yourself to an historical experience. I agree -- Kenneth More as Herbert Lightower is wonderful and very attractive!

Summary: The most dreadfull accident
Review: Every time, I watch this movie ,I feel so sorry for those innocent people who lost their lives in that accident.
