Review: Not so much about the movie as that stands alone, more praise a. for the restoration - if you get the chance compare this verison with an aged cinema version to see the superb work that was done here and b. the imaginative use of the DVD format to supply additional information (make sure to listen to the film commentary for example) which more DVD compilers should take note of.

Summary: Hitchcock must be turning in his grave
Review: I rented "Vertigo" a few months ago at a local Blockbuster and absolutely loved it. I thought I would want to wathch the movie over and over so I went to a local record store and bought a copy of "Vertigo (Widescreen Edition)". When I watched the video that night I noticed the picture and sound quality are not quite up to the standard of the copy I rented at Blockbuster. I wonder if this is due to poor quality control. "Vertigo" is one of the greatest pieces of art humanity has produced and it certainly deserves a better treatment at a video factory. I noticed the same problem with "2001: A Space Odyssey" a few years ago. I surely hope this is not a widespread problem and such sacrilege will not be repeated.

Summary: Really Widescreen?
Review: Hasn't anybody else noticed that the DVD edition of Hitchcock's most beautiful movie adds very little width to the full screen VHS edition, and instead loses quite a lot of height? Not quite as bad as 'Psycho', but what is going on here? Whatever happened to Vistavision?

Review: One of Hictcocks best but....... maybe I go too far in my praise. Maybe you should watch it with no expecations what so ever, so don't end up like Mr. Bonesteel, who played the expecation game and lost.

Summary: Were we watching the same movie?
Review: This film was on my "must-see" list for years because of its great reputation. I finally watched after a co-worker raved about it, and I must say that I have never encountered a more overrated film. It started very well and I had high hopes for it. Many scenes were indeed hypnotic and beautiful, but they just went on too long. I was still intrigued, though, and a great ending would have banished my doubts. The finale, though, was so abrupt and ludicrous that I laughed out loud...and then my jaw dropped in disbelief that this was actually the end of the film. At the time of its release, this film was not warmly received; now it makes lists of the top ten films of all time. Go figure.

Summary: Vertigo a terrific experience!
Review: This is a Masterpiece! wonderfully restored, Vertigo is one of the few movies that you are possitive you can see time after time and be sure that you are going to love it! Hitchcock's best movie so far! The restoration process is wonderfully described in a full aditional chapter as information about the movie and the Director. A trully piece of collection !

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I was very disappointed in Vertigo. The first half of the movie is a bit too slow and the ending is simply depressing. I feel Psycho is superior on a number of levels: acting, cinematography, intensity of plot, pace of film, overall cohesiveness. The trickery with Kim Novack is good , but I feel a similar ploy was done with much greater effect using Orson Welles in The Third Man, which I consider a clearly superior film.

Summary: Best Movie EVER
Review: Watch this movie. If you haven't seen it and the next time you go to the video store and pick out ANYTHING else, you are a terrible person. The music is some of the best ever and the direction and colors used are perfect. My favorite scene is near the beginning when Scottie is following Madeline around. For nearly 20 minutes, there is no talking. It is absolutely hypnotic and unforgettable. BUY THIS FILM NOW.

Summary: The one and only
Review: Well, personally I can't really remember a better movie, so I guess this is the peak of my movie experiences. If I would have to pick a movie to show an example of term intense, this would be the film. Everything seems so complete with this piece; the visuality, the plot, the actor, the music, the setting... I feel quite numb when I'm reviewing a film I know I don't really have anything negative to say about. So why the heck am I doing this? You're right, I should stop...

Summary: hitchcock's best movie
Review: the most eerie movie i've ever seen. if it had ended with someone waking out of a dream, i wouldn't have been surprised. instead, it ends with a complete shock. it really doesn't get any better than this. jimmy stewart gives the performance of a lifetime. i can't believe hitchcock topped strangers on a train, but this movie puts it to shame.
