Summary: Superb from the start!
Review: This is a classic film, no doubt about it. William Powell and Myrna Loy are fantastic as the witty and urbane Nick and Nora Charles. In this film they try to probe the circumstances surrounding the death of an inventor. Even if you don't like mysteries, the Powell/Loy magic will surely win you over! Be sure to see this one, you'll be glad you did.

Summary: Powell and Loy made the perfect screen couple.
Review: Every time I see this movie, I am bowled over by the charm and deftness of William Powell and Myrna Loy, who deserve far more attention than they get from today's movie buffs. Tracy and Hepburn pale in comparison with Powell and Loy (don't even get me started on Julia Roberts and Richard Gere!). This is a movie to watch and delight in over and over, the solution of the mystery being by far the least interesting part of it! (One should note that Loy--with the help or hindrance, however you care to interpret it, of Asta the Fox Terrier--makes what is probably the most spectacular comic entrance in the history of the movies.)

Review: Basic plot of the movie, Nick and Nora are a rich couple, he was once a detective who's in early retirement and managing her father's estate. They drink too much, throw lavish parties... the kind of friends I would love to have. The daugher of a former client who's an inventor (he really doesn't really figure into things, besides the fact he's absent minded and rich and become intrigal to the plot...) doesn't turn up and she begs Nick to take the case. Nick wants nothing to do with detective work anymore, but because of a few intrusive people, Nick can't help but solve the case- with the help of Nora and Astor the Dog. Yes, there are moments that remind you that this is Dashiell Hammett's work, the wit is sharp and the chericters shady; up until the last second of the movies climax you really don't know who did it! Who did do it? So many had the motive and the means...

What I like the most is how the movie (and I hope the books) portrays the married couple. There marrage is loving and fun with out being too sugary or too bitter. Nick and Nora are a happy couple! This movie is Top Shelf! (I never review movies I don't like!)

Summary: Fantastic Detective 1930's and 40's Story with humor!
Review: This and all the other 5 "Thin Man" movies with: William Powell, & Myrna Loy are GREAT. A fantastic, classical team! I personally am a William Powell fan. A good actor, with a wee bit of dry humor (mixed in with booze once in a while!), except when he is forced to drink ginger ale or "Milk". . ."Egads! " Check the whole series out, they are all fantastic to watch!

Summary: As much fun as a movie can be
Review: This is a movie you can watch again and again and never grow tired of. There's never been a greater screen couple than Powell and Loy as Nick and Nora, the plot is well-crafted and lean, and the supporting cast is perfect. In short, this is as entertaining as any Hollywood movie ever made and holds up amazingly well after nearly 70 years.

Summary: NEED MORE STARS TO RATE THIS MOVIE!
Review: The mystery and suspense of The Thin Man make it interesting, but they are not the best part. The genius of this movie is pairing of William Powell and Myrna Loy. They portray Nick and Nora with great wit (sometimes just plain hilarity), class, and uncommon sophistication (for their era). Also, throw in a little romance and a happy marriage. What does this mean? The perfect movie! I own the entire Thin Man collection, and highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys classics.

Summary: great movie
Review: The interaction and fast dialogue are great. As a buff I wish I could have been there and lived that kind of life. A great series of films.

Summary: Incredible comedy
Review: This is one of my favorite movies. It was the beginning of an incredible series of mysteries with the funniest partnership in crime. Nick and Nora Charles are witty, stylish, and an incredibly hilarious couple. The movie is also a great mystery. Well worth seeing.

Summary: The best detective classic of all time
Review: In my opinion this movie ranks up there with some of the best movies of all time. Even if you don't like detective stories you'll love to watch William Powell and Myrna Loy on screen.

Summary: Smart, sharp, witty! Makes me almost want a martini!
Review: This, I believe, is the perfect way a couple should behave. Loving and warm, but with spice and sass and a cute dog to boot. This may be my favorite movie of all time. Perhaps it isn't so deep or meaningful, but it's a pure pleasure to watch -- and watch again. I love this movie, and I just adore William Powell as Nick and Myrna Loy as Nora. What wonderful characters! What excellent rapport and chemistry! What snazzy shoes! What fun!
