Summary: MAYBE I'M AMAZED!
Review: The Godfather is by far the greatest film ever made. The drama and excitement of a mafia, but most importantly, of a family of Italian Americans who occasionally commit murder one. The Godfather II continues the saga, and the torch has been passed, and Michael takes complete control. The Godfather III is a touching conclusion, in which Pacino works for redemption for his family. The Greatest. This review is kept thin so that it will be read, and many important event were left out, and this doesn't even do it justice. I am a godfather buff, and have awaited its release on DVD for quite some time now. Definitely worth the cash, this souped up collection is better late than never.

Summary: how it should be
Review: I think the movie(s) were excellent, but am disappointed that no one wants to produce a dvd that shows the story in Chronological Order!!!I,personally, would like to sit & watch the movie begin- ning with Vito as a boy then onto his life as a "successful"Don. Then continuing with his sons, etc. Please, can someone do this.If a dvd of this caliber is finally produced,I would be first in line to purchase it...cost ?..no object! Also please add the scenes that were" thrown on the floor...". thanks for letting me air my opinion. Review: How can you not order this collection. If you are a fan of The Sopranos and don't oder this collection what is wrong with you. I have always loved The Godfarther movies. Al Pacino, and Robert DeNiro are my favorite actors and they are both in one of the movies but Pacino is the best in this movie. Do yourself a favor and ORDER IT. Don't disappoint the Godfarther.

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE(S) EVER.
Review: When I was a a kid..I keep hearing about The GodFather, Marlon Brando and Al Pacino from my Uncle and I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. In fact I saw parts of The GodFather II and III when I was 10 or 11. I was naive and stupid at that time ofcourse, So I thought it was boring and I didn't understood the movie....10 years later (present day), I was in a mall and saw a VHS tape of The GodFather I. I said to my self "well yeah ok...I think I'll buy this tape and see what this movie is all about..."...then something happened.....the very first scene of The GodFather with Marlon Brando...BOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!! I've heard of Marlon Brando's performance and how he revolutionized acting during the 50's...i've seen both Street Car and Waterfront and i thought he was terrific....but never...I mean never have i've ever seen Acting like that.....minimalist and simplistic...YET so powerful and mesmerising!!!! I WAS shocked!!! my Jaw dropped and I couldn't keep my eyes off of the TV. I keep saying to my self..." Ohhhh......myy........god......" repeating that almost 100 times through out the entire movie..BUT THAT WASNT ALL!!!! The story, unforgettable scenes and Brando's performance was enough to make this the best movie of all time...But that wasn't enough....There's AL 'Freakin' Pacino!!!!! OH MY GOD.....I've never seen him so young...so innocent..so adorable...I've seen some of his movies he made in the 80's and 90's...like Scarface...Sea of love...Scent of a Woman...Dick Tracy..City Hall..Devils Advocate...Heat. etc. and Ii thought he was brilliant. BUT this!!! Oh my god....He was perfect for the Role of Michael Corleone. I couldn't imagine anyone....Ryan O'Neal, Robert Redford, Warren Beatty, Dustin Hoffman or Jack Nicholson playing Michael Corleone...The transformation of Al from Michael the Adorable, Innocent War hero to Michael the ruthless, manipulative Don was one of the most dominant part of of the movie and later on continued in GodFather II. Michael slowly becoming the ruthless and merciless DON, the decay of everything around him......Every scene was UNFORGETTABLE!!! Coupled with a beautiful and chilling Soundtrack....MY GOD...what can I say....I listen to them almost everynight..I AM THE ULTIMATE FAN!!! I TELL YOU! I think i've seen the movies 1000 times..literally..all three of them. And still.... I can't get enough of them!! AND THE CAST!! OH MY GOD!! James Caan, Robert Duvall, John Cazale, Diane Keaton, Lee Strasberg, Mike V. Gazzo...their performance was unforgattable!! And GodFather II....MY GOD....The story and scences were really fantastic...Robert De Niro was great....BUT AL PACINO was PHENOMENAL!!!! this was HIS movie..His acting...his moves...his blunt facial expressions..his presence was breath taking. ABSOLUTELY! THE BEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME! THE MOVIE(S) ARE PERFECT!! I've seen Citizen Kane, Casablanca and Gone With The Wind...they're great movies...but they dont even come close...Maybe because im a man....and as a man....obsession with power...the POWER that corrupts....is every mans ultimate fantasy...

Summary: Flawed DVD Release
Review: There is no argument that the Godfather films are important to cinema, whether you like them or not. However, the soon to be released Godfather box set editions on DVD are flawed. They have been slapped with those ugly little black bars on the top and bottom of the screen to create a 1.35:1 aspect ratio when they were originally shot and theatrically presented full frame. Why release part one and two wide screen when they were shot at a full frame aspect ratio? Before you buy this DVD, consider the fact you will be losing picture with this wide screen edition. The DVD distributor is actually throwing black bars over the picture! This first came to my attention in the documentary "Visions of light" where all films discussed were shown in their original aspect ratio. In that film, The Godfather I & II were shown full frame. I compared the two versions myself after it was released a few years back on VHS in a wide screen edition. I did a side by side of several scenes and sure enough, picture was taken away to create the effect of a wide screen aspect ratio for the letterboxed edition. In a time where letterboxing is becoming more acceptable in home viewing and audiences are becoming savvier on aspect ratios, I feel that this is very deceitful. For me, the original, full frame presentation of these films adds a layer of realism that enhances the subconscience perception of this film. Think of the senate hearing scenes in part II having a letter box effect. That was a very real scene. While you watch that scene you forget you are watching actors in a movie. The letterbox effect in that scene will always remind you that what you are watching is not real, it is a movie. It just looses its effectiveness. I do not know who is responsible for the masking of this film. Whether it was the studio, the distributor or the director himself for the purpose of marketing, I urge you to reconsider purchasing this DVD and hold out for the full screen editions however long it may take.

Summary: Without a doubt the greatest trilogy ever!
Review: The first two Godfather films are 2 of the best films ever made. The second is the only sequel to win Best Picture. Those two pictures alone are worth the money. The third movie is also good, so this package is well rounded.

Summary: Simply perfect!
Review: I frist purchased the godfather series 1&2 when they had Bata machines in the 80's. I very much enjoyed the movies then and now. I was pleased when the "Godfather III" came out. In my oppion the DVD set should be the best set to own in ones collection. A must to own! If your an if'y fan I must say this is a great buy for 6 disc's. J-Indianapolis, Indiana
