Summary: i wish i could give this movie one less star
Review: This was terrible. We watch a lot of movies and i have to say this gors down as one of the worst. It introduces to the viewer about 20 characters in the beginning - for no real reason - since only 3 of them end up being in the movie. The acting was fine - but the movie is dull, dull, dull. The ending is stupid and it leaves one wishing they could have the last 2 hours back.

Summary: Titles are pointless, KIll the apple guy!
Review: This movie is great. It has good acting, decent character traits, a plot that keeps you interested in the end, and an end that will really bring up some thought. I watched this movie remembering a review I read about this having the most controversial ending of any movie made that year. After watching it I agree. The only thing I didn't like about it is that they should have kept the original movie poster for the cover, the one where they define all the different meanings for LIMBO.

Summary: One of the "top ten" of '99
Review: Limbo is an excellent example of how a filmmaker can turn a story into a masterpeice. There is never a dull point in this film. All of the information is relevant to the plot, and most importantly it fits together. The best way to understand this film is to discuss it with a group of people after viewing it. The best part about this film is the ending. The endind truly lives up to its title and leaves you in limbo. It makes you think about the film and form your own conclusion. Currently I am studying film at school and all of my instructors have recommended this film and now I am recommending it to everyone I know.

Summary: Aaaaarrrggh
Review: OK, I don't mind watching a 2-hour movie, and I regularly like the movies John Sayles makes, but it seems like he put this together with "screw-the-viewer" in mind. The way this movie ends is absolutely inexcusable.

Summary: whew!
Review: Whew! That's what I said when I reached the end of this movie. It left me speechless and amazed. The ending was perfect because it wasn't pat or sweet or box office-guaranteed-hit stuff. It made you think. Superb, understated acting by all the main players. Worth watching again to pick up on all you missed the first time around.

Summary: No Doubt-Limbo is Disappointing
Review: No Doubt-Limbo is Disappointing

After gathering with family in hopes of enjoying a good movie, we all left the 90+ minute investment in time disappointed.

The movie rolled along in waves, and while some waves were better than others, the final wave crashed to the shore with belittlement and frustration.

Many of the sub plots lead to unknown and unnecessary places, and the ending left one unfulfilled.

This viewers humble opinion would be to wander to other sections of the video store, or simply walk out of the store empty handed.

Summary: One of Sayles' best, and one of the best films of 1999
Review: Even if I weren't a huge David Strathairn fan, I'd still consider this a great film. Sayles has always lavished attention on the most important part of any movie - the script. This film stayed with me for many days afterwards - I can't wait to hear Sayles' Director's Commentary.

Summary: great movie, yet WORST ENDING OF ALL TIME!
Review: Here is an example of a finely crafted movie which holds the viewers attention throughout, that is until they end the movie at THE MOST IMPORTANT PART! The ending was designed to ruffle feathers! No way! It was a complete cop-out, just because the pathetic director/writer couldn't come up with an ending. This is a fine example of an otherwise gripping movie DESTROYED by a HORRIBLE ENDING (or lack thereof)! DO NOT RENT OR BUY THIS MOVIE, YOU WILL SORELY DISAPPOINTED! I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THAT ENOUGH!

Summary: It will blow your mind
Review: Attention reader: pay heed to what I say. LIMBO is, perhaps, one of the most well-done films of all time. It's a shame it was only in limited release, damn shame, because it's such a wonderful film. It encompasses every emotion one looks for in a movie, and the ending is not only unpredictable, but totally mind-blowing as well. Buy this film and cherish it always, because a movie this wonderful hardly ever comes along.

Summary: Limbo is pure storytelling.
Review: When I first saw Sayles film "Lone Star," it touched me on a level I couldn't even fully explain. When I saw Limbo I was amazed that he'd done it to me again! Limbo is painted with rich textures, sounds that haunt you and the earnest feeling that you actually know these people. I felt as if I was there with them, my life threatened and frightened. Who would have thought that a young girl reading from a diary would contain more raw power and intensity than a Schwarzenegger movie?--another masterpiece of filmmaking by a master director.
