Summary: Buena pelicula
Review: I am no where near fluent in Spanish and our class watched this movie without subtitles. At times, i was a little bit confused, but not because of the movie but because i was unsure of some of the vocabulary. i was surprised that this was Amenabar's first film because it seemed like he was pretty experienced. the music definitly added to the suspense and the characters were complicated and well developed. the chase scene was by far the most suspenseful and thrilling. i applaud Amenabar on his first film and definitly recommend other films by him, such as Abre Los Ojos. i also recommend this film if you want a good thriller- it was full of suspense, gore, and action. but make sure you get the edition with subtitles if you are not fluent in spanish.

Summary: --Tesis--
Review: I had seen bits and pieces of this film before actually getting a chance to sit down and watch it. With every small bit I saw, I was more and more intrigued into the plot and the story. What a great feat for Amenabar, being able to capture the viewer so easily and keep them hooked. Not being fluent in Spanish and viewing the film without sub-titles was a challenge. I was lucky enough to be able to rewind it and watch scenes two or three times over. This really helped me to understand the film better. As a first film, Amenabar has really caught my interest, and I'm on the lookout for any new film of his. I really enjoyed watching this intriguing, if not slightly distrubing, film. I would recommend it to most.

Summary: And when will "open your eyes" be available on DVD?
Review: I had to stop this film several times - it was just too scary and nerve racking. I've already seen "Open Your Eyes" (excuse me but I don't remember the name in Spanish) and I really liked that one. And I saw on French TV that Amenabar's next movie will star Nicole Kidman and will be produced by Tom Cruise. And he's only 26 years old! This is a suberb thriller.

Summary: The Best Spanish Film I've Seen
Review: I saw this film in Spain while I was visiting and this was the best film yet. The horrific twists and turns that this movie takes you through is amazing! First you think one thing, then something makes you think another! Fabulous and a no-turn-off movie! You want to hide your eyes, but don't want to because you're afraid of missing an important piece of the movie!

Summary: One of my favorites!
Review: I saw this movie three times in the theatre in Spain while I was studying abroad a few years ago. It was masterfully done, and won the Oscar equivilant called the "Goya" (well deserved)! I have recommended the movie to many, especially those who love suspense and a variety of twists and turns, so you never know who to trust. The only problem, is that the video is difficult to find, and I'm not aware of any place that has shown it in the United States during the past few years. I can't wait to see it again!

Summary: brilliant, assured work
Review: i watched THESIS last night, i thought it was brilliant. such an assured thriller, makes all the right moves and never trips up. the pacing is the work of a master, who knows how work their audience. plus the occasional comic relief is welcome and never out of place with the rest of the film. the dvd was a bit dark though, and isn't the best-looking picture i've seen, but still, the film is a killer you can't complain. definitely one of the more satisfying thrillers i've seen of late.

Summary: if you thought open your eyes was good...
Review: If you are interested in buying a thriller thats even better than "open your eyes" (abre los ojos) you got to have this movie.
The problem with it is that you cant turn off the subtitles (and that can drive you mad if you speak spanish because the translator ...[stinks]), there are no audio options, and its a bit expensive. But if you are a fan of good movies (in this case excellent) and you dont really care about special features, dont waste your time reading this, buy thesis

Summary: Amazing and griping suspense
Review: If you have not seen Thesis you're missing a great film. Watch where films like 8mm found their inspiration. This proves that to make a great film you don't have to spend millions of dollars. And by the way, it's not as cheap as Blair Witch...

Summary: Great movie!
Review: If you want to enyoy a really great foreing language movie you must see that movie. Del mismo creador de Open your eyes, y con la misma calidad, Thesis recoge de forma brillante los efectos que producen los medios de comunicaciĆ³n. Don't miss it!

Summary: A Powerful "Thesis" of a Film...
Review: In my very subjective opinion, Alejandro Amenabar's Thesis is the film Joel Schumaker wished that he could've made when he did 8MM with Nicholas Cage. It gets into the subconcious in ways that many American films deemed as "suspensful" don't. I daresay that they only scratch the surface while Thesis burrows underneath. The film is about the darkness that lurks beneath the sweet and sugar facade, about the human condition and how far some people are willing to go in the world, even if it means their life to get an answer. I'm not going to give you a synopsis but what I will do is challenge you to a viewing if you haven't seen it. Track it down, make the effort, borrow it from your friend with the obscure film collection. By the end you'll see that Alejandro Amenabar is a master at his game and that a lot of these American film directors need to go back to school.
