Rating: Summary: this movie is a must see Review: This movie is about a man who is in an asylumwh murders people. This movie is a very good film that take place in New Zealand. Be warned though this film has a lot of very violent gore and is pretty strange. The director did very good job film this movie and the gritty camera work makes this film more disturbing then it already is. This i a must see. Rent it with Dead Alive and have a all night gore fest.
Rating: Summary: Scared Me Silly! Review: This movie started out a little slow, but once it got going.....yow! Nightmare city.
Rating: Summary: SEE THIS MOVIE!. Review: This was the first movie I saw at the 1998 Dublin Flim Festival. The first of 25 movies in 8 days. Not only was the UGLY my favorite film festival pick, it is THE BEST psyco-thriller I have ever seen, and I've forgotten more movies than most people have ever seen. "Simon" (P.R.) is so deceptively ordinary, he could be any of the thousands of people you pass by without even a glance. The guy who runs the institution was FREAKY. The acting is all around superb, and they couldn't have asked for a better script. The direction and cinematography are phenominal. This is the movie Alfred would have made if he were here today.
Rating: Summary: Be Careful - The Ugly stays with you Review: You find yourself be drawn into the world of a serial killer and seeing it through his eyes and then regretting the horror that you find. A very frightening and disturbing movie. Not one for the slasher fans. It has more story depth than blood and guts and a few surprises behind the great, if not cliched story foundation. Well worth seeing and I think worth buying.
Rating: Summary: good stuff! Review: Yow! i liked this one! Well done all around. An interesting story, solid direction, good use of the camera. Film moves along in a surreal state documenting the childhood and murders of serial killer simon. Simon, it seems has visits from "the uglies" (we don't see much of them for any length of time but what we see is quite ghoulish), apparations that drive him to kill. But are they real? Are they simply the creations of a deluded mind? The film keeps you guessing right untill its bizarre finish. Even then, its a question only the viewer can answer. The plot gives no easy outs. It presents simon as a tortured soul and we are unsure whether to pity him or want to gas him. Definatly not the usual slahser fare here. Simon is a thinking mans killer. Highly recomended.
