Summary: My Analytical Review of Fargo
Review: I have recently watched Fargo, a Coens Brothers creation. Though having heard good things about the movie and watching it myself I am still not sure that I could recommend it to anyone else. Fargo is a modern day drama set in the city of Fargo North Dakota and the twin cities in Minnesota. The pace at the beginning of the movie is extremely sluggish and never speeds up past a brisk walk. The film is a story of Murder, kidnapping, conspiracy, and justice. The basic break down of the film is this. A Minnesota car dealer needs quite a lot of money in order to finance a large deal he is working, as well as keep himself out of legal troubles. Jerry, the car dealer knows he will not receive any help from his family, so he must cook up some kind of a scheme. In order to make the money Jerry hires two professional criminals, Carl and Gaear, to kidnap his wife, Jean. For doing this, Carl and Gaear will receive a percentage of the ransom taken from wade, the father-in-law of Jerry. The problem with all of this was that it took a long time to develop, and this could lead many people to drift off and miss critical plot dialogue. For me, the overall pace of the movie was its downfall. The film had all the makings of a great cinematic experience, action, mystery, and suspense. If you are in to a slower paced movie that evokes thought, and a need for a long attention span, than this is definitely a movie for you, but only if you can handle a little goar. If you need a little more action and a faster pace with thought evoking movies: rent Fight Club.

Summary: A Dark Comedy with a Twist
Review: Fargo is a dark comedy that uses classic Coen-brothers humor. In Fargo, the brothers take a serious story of gruesome murders and make light of the subject. When the film begins Jerry Lundergaard, played brilliantly by William H. Macy, is plotting to have his wife kidnapped so that he can collect ransom money from his father-in-law. To do this he hires the psychotically funny Carl Showalter and Gaear Grimsrud to have them do the job for him. Everything is planned to go smoothly but in the spirit of Coen's films this couldn't happen. All of Lundergarrd's plans go to hell and he can't control what he has started. The men that Lundergarrd has hired don't really have a clue what they are doing and instead of just kidnapping his wife they also kill a highway patrolman and two innocent people that witnessed the shooting of the patrolman. Then the pregnant patrolwoman, Marge, from Brainerd seems to not have all of her marbles but she still seems to figure everything out perfectly. Throughout the film she stumbles onto leads that point her in the right direction and makes Lundergarrd break under the pressure and screw it all up. There was one thing that really bothered me about this film it was the accents the characters used. Not only were they inaccurate they were down right annoying. Overall this isn't one of the Coen's brothers best films, in the likes The Big Lebowski, but it is still better than most of the movies out today.

Summary: Fargo
Review: Steve Buscemi is one of few good things brought to the screen in Joel Coen's Fargo. Buscemi plays Carl, just one of the Coen's quirky characters, hired to kidnap a down on his luck car salesman's wife. Carl and his partner are two good for nothings that can, quite frankly, do nothing right. They drive themselves to disaster only to find a way to somehow make things worse. The sad part is that Fargo is based on a true story. This exceedingly slow paced flick carries a good plot, though it is a bit random and pointless at times. As the movie drags on at least one does realize that plot and character development is well portrayed. Coen creates these bizarre and yet ever-so-normal characters trying to combat the blue-collar blues in the frozen tundra commonly referred to as Minnesota. The style in which the film was shot is interesting, to say the least. The wide camera angles and limited background makes for very open, very white shots- there is a lot of snow in this movie. The camera movements are slow and gracious, like a ballet- in other words, boring. It's almost difficult to review this movie. I'm torn between loving and hating it. With the meager experience that I've had with films and directing, I know that I could not have done a better job (this was graciously pointed out to me by a friend). Joel Coen does an excellent job directing. The script is well written and the cast is well portrayed. In all the movie does come recommended if you can take the pain.

Summary: Don't Waste 98 minutes
Review: Currently I viewed the 1996 film Fargo. Out of 5 stars I would give this only one at the most. Fargo is based on a true story of a pregnant Brainerd, MN trooper that investigates a triple homicide crime and discovers it is bigger than what she expects. The reason I give this movie such a low rating was one for the poor acting displayed in this film. Another reason for such a low rating was the movie jumps around to much and doesn't make sense at times. There are countless scenes that could have been avoided and were not necessary such as the sex scenes the time the trooper spends with her husband alone. For a true story the story line seemed a little to rediculous. It seemed there was a murder every five minutes and f bombs went off about every three minutes. This movie would be good to watch late late at night when you have nothing else to do and want a cheep laugh. For a film made in the 90's the effect were horrible. When its all over you feel that you have wasted 98 min. of your life that you could be doing something more constructive, like sleeping.Jose M.

Summary: An Unique Crime Film
Review: The first half of this film plays like a comedy. It's very funny in a dark kind of way, especially the deadpan comments of the two crooks and the perfect timing of the direction. Then, all of sudden the small-town sheriff is graphically shot in the head. You then find yourself saying, "Wait a minute, that wasn't very funny." The movie just gets more interesting at that point, especially when we are introduced to our hero...a pregnant police chief named Marge. Huh? It's neat how this film shows us a thriller played out by simple small-town folk. William H. Macy does an excellent job portraying a man who is frustrated and can't seem to get a break. And even though he's about to have his own wife kidnapped and scam the hired thugs out of millions of dollars in ransom money, his humbleness and frustration causes us to relate with him, and we feel sorry for him (until the end, at least). The film reminds us all of a time in which we had a good thing planned out and going good for ourselves, only to watch someone else ruin it for us. And on a final note: The accents in the film, although funny, are greatly exaggerated. Fargo is a film that is a crime film that is engaging without any of the normal elements found in the genre: it has no long, dangerous car chases, no grandiose shootouts, and of course, it has no clichéd, stale villains or heroes. It's power lies in its uniqueness, both in its complex story and its down-to-earth, credible, engaging characters, and of course the concrete, dazzling performances turned it by the entire cast.

Review: This is one of those depressing, weird movies that critics rave about. It's ugly. It isn't funny. It is as tedious as watching paint dry. I hated it.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: This was a great movie. It showed to be full of thrill, suspense, some comedy, and many surprises. It was hard for me to believe that it was based on a true story. The film wasn't too long or short it was just perfect. All the scenarios were significant because one lead to the next. It was amazing at what length the producer went to gather all the significant characters to make this movie like Frances McDormand who played Marge Gunderson, the pregnant policewoman with a strong personality. At first when she appeared, I laughed and thought what could she do, she can barely walk. Yet at the end I was impressed at her courage when she approached Peter Stormare, who played Gaear Grimsrud the cool quiet kidnapper, and without hesitation shot him in the leg to arrest him. There were some scenes that were too gruesome to watch, like when the trooper was shot in the head and you could see the blood gushing out of his head. Also the scene when Peter Stormare was pushing Steve Buscemi's body, who played Carl Showalter the other funny looking kidnapper, through the wood chipper. My main point is that this is a must see movie if you haven't seen it before. Trust me, you'll see stuff you would never think you'd see, just keep in mind that the movie was based on a true story!

Summary: Watched it over and over..........
Review: Fargo is my personal all time favorite movies. I have watched this movie countless times. Its a murder mystery set in fargo and surrounding areas. A strapped for cash car saleman Jerry Lendergard (William H Macy) hires some local villains to kidnap his wife for ransom. Jerry plans to split the ransom money 50/50, paid by his rich father in law, with the villains. The simple kidnapping soon turns into a multiple murder as the luckless villians speed away with their victim. In pursuit is the local sheriff Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand) who is seven months pregnant. Jerry and the kidnapper become deeply enmeshed in trouble as they make more and more blunders. This makes for a farcicle black comedy.

Summary: Possibly the Most Overrated Film in American History
Review: That the AFI put this miserable roll of film in the top 100 says more about the AFI than anything. This movie is quite possibly the worst movie that's ever been made outside of Ed Wood. NOTHING in this movie deserves merit. The mean-spirited scenes involving people of North Dakota and the subtle attacks on Asian-Americans is quite evident. I truly wish the Coens would realize one thing: It's great to have relatives in the business, but that does not make one an artist or a filmmaker.

Summary: The fox, the wolves and the rabbit.
Review: Joel and Ethan Coen are two brothers making films together, whom I think the world of since I entered a movie theatre a far off Easter day, and they started letting kill as so many characters as it rained blood --truth to tell tomato sauce. Are they obliged by the sign of the times? In fact Coens have filmed the true fiction or fictive truth "Fargo", telling us how men are really able to turn into beasts for a bag of money. But no huge snowdrift will ever cover their crimes, whenever a pregnant fox --the cop-- is following the printfoots of some ruthless wolves --two low-lifes. Crimson tracks in the snow take her right into the rabbit hole --the car dealer. So the catching fox will be rewarded by getting back home as actual pussycat likes better to catch the Zs.
