Summary: nothing new
Review: this one reminded me of countless other haunted house movies. I like to keep my reviews short and sweet so I'll put it this way. If you've never seen a haunted house movie you might enjoy this, but if you have see polterguiest, or the haunting instead.

Summary: One of the scariest movies ever made.
Review: This is my number 1 favorite scary movie. I read the reviews on here and decided to take a chance. Wow, way more than I expected. I don't scare easily. I can watch movies others think are scary and not get scared at all. Not the case with this movie. If you want the life scared out of you, buy this movie.

Summary: A classic supernatural film
Review: I first saw this movie in my mid-teens (I'm 29 now) and it still scares me just as much each time I view it. I am not one to be easily frightened by most movies, but the psychological tension this movie creates is something like David Lynch; dark feelings of something terrible happening, or something very wrong, but you can't pin it down. This movie of course is much less abstract that Lynch, it does indeed pinpoint the terror, but it's more reminiscent of The Shining in it's long, slow buildup of events. I agree it may be a bit slow in spaces, but there are moments of sheer psychological terror, like the seance in which a medium performs automatic writing and records the voice of the young boy, which is not readily apparent to the seance members at first. Even talking about this scene makes tears of fright come to my eyes; in my opinion it's the best scene in any horror film. Rather than gore or shock for surprise value, this movie uses imagination and subtle creepiness, to great effect.
See this one!

Summary: Haunted House Masterpiece
Review: George C. Scott was one of the greatest American actors ever, and this movie, though not well-known, was one of his best. There is no CGI, no gore, and no weak points. This movie uses atmosphere and skillful panning and creeping of the camera to scare you. There are other scenes which are more disturbing, but still subtle in nature compared to most other haunted house movies. It's a shame when people usually list their top favorite haunted house movies, this one is rarely ever on there because it sure should be. The DVD has a pretty decent looking transfer, not great, but not bad. The sound is fairly flat, but you can't help but love this movie regardless of the mediocre DVD. You will likely never see a movie made like this anymore.

Summary: Not bad, but not all that
Review: I enjoyed this movie, but it's not very scary. It's also a bit slow in spots. What I enjoy about movies from this time is that the actors are more convincing than most of what we see today. But the movies themselves, like this one, are rather tepid, too timid to really get one involved or frightened. I recommend watching this and "The Hearse" together to see which you prefer, this one with G. C. Scott, or "Hearse," starring his wife, Trish Van Devere. 'Changeling' is more layered and elegant, while 'Hearse' is simpler, faster-moving and (IMHO) a bit more entertaining.

Summary: A Chilling Ghost Story .
Review: A blood-chilling film by Canadian director Peter Medak staring the late George C. Scott and his wife Trish Van Devere . This one should definetly be seen in the dark and late at night so that you'll feel the hair bristling at the nape of your neck . It's eerie soundtrack , that melancholy and sometimes pealing piano music that accompanies one frightening scene after another will keep you riveted to the edge of your seat and frozen with fear. Don't watch it alone !
If you like this one I also recommend " Audrey Rose" (1977).

Summary: Wonderful, scary fun
Review: After losing his wife and young daughter in a horrific traffic accident, composer George C. Scott leaves his New York apartment (a place that any New Yorker I know wouldn't leave if the kid was murdered IN it, and the killer still there) for the gloomiest old house in Seattle. Then the fun begins.

This movie generates some real thrills with nothing more menacing than a childs rubber ball, a wheelchair, and some voices on a tape recording and banging pipes. Directors of such high-tech gore-fests as "House on Haunted Hill" should be forced to see this movie as a refresher course on how a really scary movie is made. Save this one for a dark and rainy night, lower the lights, get out the popcorn and enjoy.

Summary: If you are a fan of a true scary story, this is IT
Review: This movie has the ability to make you jump in your seat. I watched it first at the age of 14, and I made the mistake of watching it in our basement. It took me 25 minutes to get out of my seat and run up the stairs, because I was sure something would grap my ankles!
It is the most all-encompassing wonderful scary story ever on film. It scares like the Exorcist, yet with not a hint of true gore or shock. The bathtub scene is too graphic for children and some pregnant moms, but this is because this movie moves you. It is the best ghost story ever on film.
If you have read Peter Straub's Julia and found it scary, then, by all means, BUY THIS.
They don't make them like this anymore.
Written by a pure Fangoria buying, Stephen King reading, HP Lovecraft loving, Poe appreciating chick.

Summary: Spooooky
Review: This is still a great movie. The DVD reissue does a fairly good job of cleaning up the scratchy film to give a nice clear picture and with surround sound the film is even more intense. Gothic horror in nature this movie is straight up spooky. The opening scene when the credits are on the screen and all you hear is the whisper of the wind you know you are in for a good bit of film making. Many people criticize this movie for being too slow, but I think that adds to the intensity of it. I like it. A must see for the person who likes spooky movies without the high budget modern day special effects. This is a very well written spooky movie and the script and acting are what make it a classic.

Summary: The Ultimate Classis Ghost Story
Review: Even after watching "The Changling" numerous times..it can still make me jump at the super scary parts. The story line is great and the acting superb. The music is beautiful and haunting. I wish their was a soundtrack with the music box theme on it. This is a great film for sleepovers..just don't expect to sleep after watching it.
