Rating: Summary: Hauntingly brilliant and moving story of love and loss. Review: I first watched this movie when I was 13 (almost 20 years ago) and it scared everything out of me then and still manages to do so each time I watch it. I have an old copy of it on video now and it still chills me to the bone, especially during the seance and the wheelchair scene. Scary indeed! Best to be viewed with the lights out, cold and stormy night with friends or just with someone you can snuggle up to on the lounge during those "spookie" moments.
Rating: Summary: CLASSY SCARE THAT PACKS A PUNCH! Review: The Changeling is a classy well-written, well-directed piece of work that will bring you to the edge of your seat in fear and dreaded anticipation without slumping to the "in-your-face" type of blood and guts effects that are present in so many other films. There are many powerful, frightening scenes that show just enough, making the whole experience seem very real. It also contains a seance scene that is one of the very best ever filmed. George C. Scott delivers an excellent performance as the mourning husband and father who's trying to get on with his life, but is "selected" to help the spirit of a murdered child find final rest. This film is a treasure that, to my knowledge, was never advertised or given much attention. It will stay with you long after the movie ends!
Rating: Summary: THE SCARIEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN, PERIOD. Review: I bought this movie on Video after seeing it on Showtime several years ago. Best to watch it with all the lights off and during a thunderstorm, hehe. This movie is my absolute favorite scary movie. It's one that really WILL give you nightmares!! There seems to be very very few,if any, movies that are as scary as this one.(Too bad) In fact, I wish directors and writers would take a clue and give us more movies such as this one. The scariest scenes in this movie are from the seance and afterward, when George C. Scott's listening to the taped session... and the SCARIEST SCENE FOR ME TO WATCH... is when the steadycam fluidly races up the stairs and up to the attic to where the boy died. W-O-W. That scene to this day, just CHILLS ME TO THE BONE!!!! NOT A MOVIE FOR THE YOUNG OR EASILY-FRIGHTENED. For all scary-movie lovers BUY THIS MOVIE YOU'LL NEVER REGRET IT!
Rating: Summary: A Must see...will not dissapoint! Review: This was one movie that stayed with me for a long time! Im glad I found it so that I can show it to my wife! She likes these kind of horror suspence thrillers and this is one to curl up with a bowl of popcorn a cold beer and wait for a rainy night!
Rating: Summary: Best Horror Flick Ever! Review: There are several VERY freaky scenes in this classic horror flick, I absolutly cringe when John (George C. Scott) goes into the house over the well all by himself in the middle of the night. I first saw this movie when I was 12 and it really freaked me out. Who could live in a big old house like that all by themselves?
Rating: Summary: Scariest Movie I've Seen So Far Review: Well I saw this movie the first time it was on TV which was in the early 80s (I'm 27 now). By far the scariest movie I've ever seen. Others that have recommended the "scariest" include like Children of the Corn (just another slasher), Rosemary's Baby (gimme a break), the Exorcist (so-so), [Psycho--that shower scene always messes me up; can't take a shower for weeks :)]. The freakiest parts was that crazy ball bouncing, the wild wheelchairs, drowning boy, and that crazy closed off room upstairs with the music box. Saw it on TV a few months ago, still was crazy. Bout the ony other very-scary movie I've seen is the Shining which I saw the other night. The slashed up kids in the hallways and blood coming down the stairs. Sheez. Again in the Changeling the constant piano pounded is enough to unnerve you. Bout to go rent the original 60s "The Haunting" and "The Turn of the Screw" hear those are pretty good. "The Haunting of Hill House"--the remake looked pretty interesting in the previews I saw before Saving Private Ryan last week. Hopefully they won't turn it into some gorefest. [Note: the remake is only the second movie so far that will be mixed with Dolby Surround EX 6.1, No #2 only behind Star Wars Episode 1:The Phantom Menace. Anyway--the bottom line--prepared to darken your drawers!!
Rating: Summary: Scary. Review: I've read hundreds of horror novels and short stories and seen countless movies; I love the genre. 'The Changeling' is very probably the best horror movie ever made, period. It actually scared me, repeatedly, when almost nothing else ever has.
Rating: Summary: it's so scary i can't get my husband to watch it with me! Review: I love the steady build-up of tension that this movie has. Yes, the seance scene will give you nightmares for weeks, but it will also break your heart. To me, the scariest scene is the ball bouncing down the stairs. Poor George C. Scott! Like the Haunting, this is a first rate scare.
Rating: Summary: AFFECTED ME IN A BIG WAY!! Review: I FIRST SAW THIS FLICK BACK IN 82 WHEN I WAS IN THE SIXTH GRADE. I HAD NIGHTMARES LITERALLY A WEEK PLUS AFTER SEEING IT. NO OTHER MOVIE HAS EVER DONE THAT TO ME. I GOT IT SO MY WIFE COULD SEE IT AND SHE COULDN'T SLEEP EITHER AND WAS QUITE UPSET AT ME FOR LETTING HER SEE IT. SHE LIKES SCARY MOVIES, BUT THIS MOVIE ISN'T SCARY, THIS MOVIE IS PROFOUNDLY HAUNTING AND WILL STAY WITH YOU FOR DAYS. UNUSUAL THING WAS THAT AFTER 17 YEARS, SEEING IT THE SECOND TIME GAVE ME THE SAME KIND OF NIGHTMARES AS THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT.
Rating: Summary: The best ghost story ever told... Review: The best ghost story ever told!... why? Because there is nothing more frightening than your own imagination and the anticipation of what will happen next... Most original/facinating seance I have ever seen... You will not be disappointed!
