Rating: Summary: You don't need to see monsters and blood to be scared... Review: Do NOT watch this movie during the daylight hours. Do NOT keep any lights on. Do NOT leave your phone on it's hook, and if at all possible, Do NOT watch this movie with someone else (For this movie, it is scarier to be alone...during *and* after the movie)A wonderful film which won--deservedly so--a whopping 8 Genie awards back in '80. And this is not a film with scares that get tamed over time like most movies. There is no gore here, no monsters, but a truely frightening psychological ghost story. And a good mystery to boot! The music in this film is wonderful!...It is the best mixture of images and sound I've ever seen for a scary movie. A large percentage of fear in this film is due to the eerie music. Forget Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining'. 'The Changeling' is the King of the cinema's *haunted house* genre.
Rating: Summary: chilling Review: The big old "vacant" house and the one who still lives there has a story to tell you. Sit, watch, listen and get chilled beyond belief. Don't worry; after a few days you will stop feeling that some unseen entity is watching you in your own house.
Rating: Summary: AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! Review: Oh my god!!!! This has to rate as one of the freakiest films I have ever seen in my life!!!!! From the first hint of something weird going on, right up to the climax of the film, I was either on the edge of my seat or hiding behind it!! The only warning I have on this film is don't watch it alone!!!
Rating: Summary: Scariest movie in existence Review: Oh my! What a scary movie! This is one of those movies that defy the whole genre-thing. There are no blood-and-guts scenes and the acting is terrific. I love horror movies and have seen a ton, but I actually SCREAMED during this one. Needless to say, I didn't sleep very well that night! See this movie!!
Rating: Summary: Overated! Review: Not Scary, usual plot, good acting = Medium class movie. Not a classic!
Rating: Summary: CLASSIC Review: I HAD SEEN THIS MOVIE YEARS AGO. I JUST BOUGHT IT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND WATCHED IT WITH MY HUSBAND AND KIDS, MY HUSBAND IS NOT A HORROR MOVIE PERSON, BUT HE LOVED IT JUST AS ME AND THE KIDS DID. YOU FIND YOURSELF YELLING DON'T GO IN THE ATTIC ALONE ARE YOU STUPID. THIS MOVIE KEEPS YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT. IT STARTS OUT SLOW-TELLING YOU ABOUT GEORGE C. SCOTT'S CHARACTER AND GIVING YOU BACKGROUND ON HIM AND HIS FAMILY. BUT IT GETS REAL GOOD AFTER THAT. DEFINETLY GET THIS MOVIE. I THOUGHT IT WAS REAL SCARY AND SO DID THE REST OF MY FAMILY. PURE CLASSIC.
Rating: Summary: a must see Review: I watch this movie at least twice a year and have yet to find a ghost story that compares....absolutely love it!
Rating: Summary: The Best EVER Review: STAY PUT!! I must tell you that out of 20 or so people I have introduced this movie to, only about 5 of them stayed past the first 15 minutes. They have all lost out on the best haunted house movie ever. Yes, this movie does start a little slow, but if you just WAIT, you will see what I mean. After I saw this movie the first time (I was 19), I slept with a nightlight for a week. This is the kind of movie that at the end you will want to turn on every light in your house and check over your shoulder. This is truely a work of art. A MUST SEE for the TRUE Haunted House Thrill seeker.
Rating: Summary: great movie..great dvd Review: finally someone has did justice to a old movie to dvd..sound and picture are very good. video is darker than normal and looks like most movies do when in the theater. they did a great job on sound..for example when the seance is being played on his recorder it really gives you a sound like you are there in the house with him..and rest of movie the surround works good..so if you have a theater sound system be prepared to enjoy..grab your popcorn...turn out the lights and sit back and enjoy....
Rating: Summary: George C. Scott & Vengeful Spirit Make Good Bedfellows Review: This movie will appeal to fans of several genres: suspense, horror, ghost story, drama, etc. It is a fine film showcasing the talent of George C. Scott. Scott finds himself moving to a landmark mansion in Seattle after losing his wife and daughter in a freak car accident. But was he drawn to the mansion just by luck or was it fate? The plot unfolds in a way resembling the best kind of ghost stories told around camp fires, with a dramatic and interesting ending -- culminating in an exacting revenge. The movie made an impact on me when I saw it in the theater, and it did not disappoint when I watched it on video a good 20 years later.
