Summary: Great News
Review: I love this movie, it is actually long and does have it's drawn out moments but the story and acting is top of the line. De Niro is fantastic as usual and his cast is great. If you enjoy great gangster movies you will have to have this one as a keeper.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: the very best
Review: When I first saw this movie on cable in 1984, I was blown away of the transitional period from when the characters were jewish immigrants turning in to stone-cold gangsters blew me away. This film chronicles the characters from whence they were children, shows how they were forced into a life a crime. there are 2 versions of this film, however with the best of it being the long version. This is one of DeNiro's finest as a gangster. The way the long version jumps around from era to era, sort of gives you a Tarnatinoesque view which was probably started by leone.

Summary: A Great Movie
Review: This film is a profound expression of truth regarding friendship and betrayal. Sergio Leone's masterpiece of growing up in immigrant America is probably one of the first, and finest Leone movies I'd ever seen. I rented some of Leone's other famous works, after seeing this one, and I was equally blown away. James Woods and Robert DeNrio are spectacular as the two friends' whose life in prohibition-era crime inevitably leads to tragedy. Ennio Morricone's score is beautiful and haunting, while Leone's cuts are long and patient. I am a huge fan of gangster movies, and I do recommend this one, as well as Goodfellas, Miller's Crossing, and the Untouchables.

Review: even as i write this i have to fight back tears of joy!
This is unequivicaly the best movie I have ever seen.
I anxiously await the oncoming defining moment of my life thus far when on june 10th 2003 I slip this disc gently into place and sit in quiet awe as what is sure to be a luminous image transfer, and crystal clear sound, of this confident, narratively and photographicaly superior work of art filters through my being.
Graphic in the extent of its emotional truth, momentus beyond all hope of descrition, this masterpiece is the pinnacle of filmic technique as a source of artistic storytelling.
If orson welles hadnt been so enthralled with the virtuosity of his own technique, if coppolla hadnt been so ovbiously aware of the size of the story he was telling with the godfather movies. If these two talents freed of thier constraining knowledge had merged to make a film this would have been the result.
Unconciously grand in every respect. every performance is pitched in the sheer depth of complete confidence as is every other piece of this puzzle.
Its no surprise to me that the film industry/press has largely ignored this movie. how are they supposed to deal with the knowledge that someone has already gotten it exactly right.

Summary: Shows the path to friendship, love, and hate
Review: I escaped from school an evening of 1984 to go to the movies. I was not really interested in any particular one when I reached a cinema where OUATIA was played.
It's my favourite movie since then.
All performances are outstanding and support the script in a very efficient manner. The inner story of the "everlasting" firendship of a group of kids that became members of a delictive gang and as a consecquence, later, politicians.
Nuddles' (R.De Niro)love story with the ballet dancer is full of realistic feelings and the frustration of the loss of love.
Get this DVD (that I've actually did not see yet as it's due on June) despite I can not rate the DVD edition, just the VHS. But the movie itself is really 5 stars.

Summary: its about time.
Review: This is a great movie that has been long over due.For years ive been forced to listen to critics tell me about the all time great gangster movies from the eighties Scarface, and even earlier movies such as the Godfather. This particular film never got the justice it deserved, it may be one of Deniro's best performances to date.Along with an all star cast (James Woods just to mention one)this film suffered because so much of it was ripped away in order to get an R rateing for the theaters,i can only hope it's been properly restored.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: my favorite movie of all time

Summary: Once Upon A Time In America
Review: This is one of the best movies I have ever purchased. From the opening scenes of the flash backs, flash forward moving in and out of various time periods the first 45 minutes alone shows this movie is a true master piece. Acting from all the cast is first rate and Sergio Leone made is best film ever. Looking back at his career from the Eastwood man with no name triogy to Once Upon A Time In The West (another stunning film) you can see the progression of Leone's genius ending with Once Upon A Time In Amercia. I would urge the studio to bring out the DVD version as seeing it on DVD with all the bonus features is the one thing missing from my DVD collection. I would also say anyone that purchases Once Upon A Time In The West and Once Upon A Time In America will have two great films in their collection that they will watch over and over again.

Summary: NOT THE GODFATHER BUT A MASTERPEICE
Review: This movie is Sergio Leone's sprawling portrait about jewish gangsters.Long life freinds raised from childhood become part of one of the biggest crime organizations in the country. An excelent film than in my poinion can match the GODFATHER'S
excelency.
