Review: "Memento" was absolutely riveting. Everything was excellent- the script, the dialogue, the acting, the cinematography. I can't stop thinking about it. If an Oscar nomination for Guy Pearce doesn't come his way, it will be a crime.

Review: Memento is brilliant, i saw this at a theater the other day and i was mezmorized, this movie was soo brilliant i couldnt take my eyes off the screen, the director does an amazing job creating a puzzle in a Tarantino-like way. Guy Pearce is brilliant, as a man trakcing down his wifes killer. Thinks its as simple as that? NO! he suffers from an amnesia like disease, he remembers the time before his wife died, and cant remember anything after she died. The film walks you through with Pearce putting together this puzzle, that is broken when you begin, and slowly turns into a masterpiece Compare Guy Pearces performace to Edward Norton in Primal Fear, its brilliant, he acts like he has this disease. Carrie Anne-Moss and Joe Palantino are also great supporting actors for this film. THe only thing i can stress more than how great the film was is that YOU HAVE TO SEE IT. I GURANTEE YOU WILL BE MEZMORIZED

Summary: This movie was amazing!
Review: Incredibly insightful and moving. This movie was wonderfully dark and disturbing. Any independant film fans will adore this film! Guy Pearce gives a phenomenal performance and the other actors and actresses are great as well. The plot was wrought with originality. Stark and candid. The main character (Lennie) has a rare problem where he cannot remember things for more than a few moments at a time. He is searching for the murderer of his wife and has to be insanely well-organized in order to maintain any sort investigation, including tattooing facts onto his own body. The movie twists and turns in so many directions your head is spinning afterwards. You'll find yourself thinking about it days later. Brutal and memorable. If you don't see this flick you're going to regret it!

Summary: Demands and keeps your attention
Review: Memento is one of the better films I've seen recently. As you probably have read by now, the movie centers around a man unable to create new memories since the murder of his wife.

While I've seen reviews (1) dismiss this as a "gimmick", and (2) wrongfully claim this is a wild new idea (I know Gene Wolfe wrote a two-book series "Soldier of the Mist" about a Grecian soldier similarly afflicted and situated), the fact is that the director creates a very interesting treatment and story that works extremely well. The back-to-front format is novel (not just a frame setup like Usual Suspects), particularly combined with the black & white "normal" time line that runs through. It gives enough intrigue and information to keep you riveted to the details of the story.

My only complaints (e.g., why I gave 4, not 5, stars) were with the conclusion. I won't say much as to not spoil it, but I will say that I noticed inconsistencies/implausibilities, no matter how I chose to look at it. I don't have a problem with a movie of this kind that ends with either resolution or ambiguity. But I felt that the director tried to deliver too much, & ended up with something that didn't work perfectly. In a movie where attention to detail is paramount, these mistakes are not forgivable.

With that said, I urge you to watch Memento. You will think and talk about it, and remember it as one of the better films of 2001.

Summary: Incredible piece of filmmaking
Review: Try as I might, I can't find anything negative to say about this movie. It is absolute genius. Written (from a short story) and directed by Christopher Nolan, this is the best noir thriller since LA Confidential (or maybe since Chinatown). Guy Pierce (Lenny) plays a man with no short term memory who is investigating the murder of his wife. The same events that ended her life are the ones that led to the brain damage that destroyed Lenny's short term memory. Lenny takes notes on his investigation on small polaroid pictures and in the form of tattoos covering his body. Also aiding in the investigation are Joe Pantoliano and Carrie-Anne Moss (both of Matrix fame), who are hiding some secrets of their own. All three actors put in amazing performances, which are required since the movie is basically carried by these three people, with only a couple other actors who even have lines. Most amazing about this film is the fact that it plays backwards, each scene is presented, and then the scene before it explains how we got to the prior scene, so the movie begins at the end of the story and works its way back to the beginning. This is a little jarring at first, but eventually a rhythm is attained and the audience settles in comfortably. This also adds to the atmosphere, since we can sympathize with Lenny's situation, he too has no idea how he arrives at each conclusion, just that it fits with his notes. This movie, shot in bleak shades of green, keeps the audience guessing to the very last second, with a Sixth Sense-style surprise twist at the end (and no, you'll never guess this one, at least not until the final seconds). The movie is involving and creative, possibly the best thing to hit theaters in a very long time. WARNING: This movie might require more than one viewing, but you'll enjoy it thoroughly every time.

Review: Memento is one of the best films I have seen in a long time. Anymore, most movies are all action and no plot. But the story to this movie is amazing. The acting is breathtaking. And the scenes are chilling. But be warned, do not take your eyes off of the screen, or you will miss something. This is a must-see film. No one should miss it.

Summary: Sooooooo memorable
Review: It's been at least a month since I've seen this film, and I still find myself thinking about it. Definitely go with a group of people so you can discuss it/argue about it afterward. I'm tempted to see it again to gain new insights, but I might wait till it's on video. For the squeamish, I found a couple of parts slightly hard to watch, but it's not very gory.

Review: Think about it, unable to make new memories. The possiblities are endless, and fortunately Guy Nolan does an incredible job exploring majority of them.

From the get-go, you're actually at the end and know the final result. What you don't know is what lead to this result. This movie does an amazing job of tying pieces of information from the future back to how they originated in the past. From something as simple as the hand written words on a piece of paper, to something as complex as the meaning behind thoughts, this movie ties them all together leaving only enough loose ends for folks to discuss for hours.

See it with friends because you're going to want to have someone else to discuss it with. Make no mistake about it, it's a smart movie that can cause you to think about all of the possiblities. So don't see it if you're looking for big explosions, loose plots, and fake breasts.

If you're looking for an original movie with a great cast as well as plot that makes you actually think, this is the movie for you. See it, you won't thank me, you'll thank yourself.

Summary: Most innovative movie of the past several years
Review: It's difficult to review this movie, since much of the enjoyment comes from the surprises that arise every few minutes. It is easy to make comparisons to Pulp Fiction, but not because it's another Tarantino wannabe, just because it is similarly unique. All I can say is that I was fully engaged in this movie from beginning to end, and thought about it for several days afterwards, unlike most movies where you forget it 5 minutes after walking out. A Bruce Willis action movie it's not...but if you like thoughtful film noirs, GO SEE THIS MOVIE.
