Review: This film defies an explanation. It's David Lynch. What more can be said? The DVD is bare-bones, but the transfer is superb. I adore this film such as a flower adores the rain. It is haunting, beautiful, astonishing...simply breath taking. Though it is long, and offers no chapter skips, it's to be viewed without pause. The only pause will come after the credits roll, and then watch it again.

Summary: BEST FILM EVER!
Review: A thousand question-marks play tricks to your mind. Your brain enters an unknown, almost terrifying, previously undreamed territory. More questions, yet no answers. A mysterious car accident, a spooky diner, some very bad espresso, a scary cowboy and a troubled film director -in kool glasses- who talks and says "this is the girl!" A real puzzling plot! Great acting, gorgeous women in beautiful erotic scenes, wonderful music and a few absorbing singing performances by some really good artists. More question-marks arise as you watch on... Some clues are given as to what's going on but Lynch never reveals what's really happening. He wants you to figure it out yourself! In the end you end up with some answers but not ALL the answers; and that's what makes a film interesting (to me anyway). When you watch Mulholland Dr your mind travels somewhere so deep -a mixture of a dream and a nightmare- that it wants to stay there forever! Couldn't sleep for 3 days... Although I've seen MD for the first time a year ago (I've seen it 7-8 times since), I can't stop myself watching it over and over again!!! GTG now and watch it one more time! Silencio...

Summary: Great movie. BAD DVD RECORDING.
Review: The movie is one of the best in 2002 according to the Times Magazine, but the movie was recorded badly because my Toshiba SD-3006 DVD player could not play the entire movie. It stalled in the switch layer change. The recording studio should do a better job for recording two-layer disc movies. Every other DVD movies play fine in my DVD player. Also, this movie does not offer chapter skip. You must fast-forward or rewind where you left off. Since my DVD player stalled while watching Muholland Drive at 1:08:00, I tried to get it played again but there was no solution for me to recover. Therefore, I am unable to watch the entire movie. Not sure if new DVD players do that also. Walter Chan

Summary: Silencio
Review: Mulholland Drive is probably the most accessible of David Lynch's films (except perhaps the Straight Story). I prefer Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and Wild at Heart for their all out absurdity. But I'm guessing that a second viewing of Mulholland Drive would make it even better, and I bet it was amazing on the big screen. I only saw it on video. Laura Harring is quite delicious in it and the scenes between her and Naomi Watts were steamy. If you don't like weird films, you probably won't like this one. But I think it's worth seeing just for the scene where Rebekah Del Rio sings "Llorando (Crying)". Chilling. The movie was written to be a tv pilot and in some ways, it shows a certain weakness in the story and acting. But this also makes it a bit more interesting than something written for a movie.

Summary: What Is There That People Don't Get?
Review: "Mulholland Drive" is an excellent movie filmed in the vein of "Lost Highway" and "Blue Velvet," two earlier masterpieces by Lynch. I'm getting sick and tired of people who badmouth a perfect cinematic gem because they just "don't get it." If you don't understand why and when and where, why did you decide to watch this film in the first place? The chronological timeline of the story is not that hard to figure out:
(01.) First, Diane wins the jitterbug competition in Canada, where she's crowned and cheered for by two old people (her parents). This is some time before any other scenes in the movie.
(02.) Camilla and her director/lover Adam Kesher kiss in the car, making Diane witness the scene.
(03.) Camilla and Diane are on the couch. Camilla says they should break up and Diane puts the pieces of what she's seen together and asks, "It's him, isn't it?"
(04.) Camilla calls Diane in an attempt to reconcile with her and tells her to get into the car that's come for her. Diane comes to Adam's party where he announces his engagement to Camilla.
(05.) Diane talks to the hitman at Winkie's and he agrees to murder Camilla.
(06.) Diane returns home, overcome with guilt and frustration, and falls asleep on her untidy bed.
(07.) She has a long dream (the first two hours of the movie). The prime thing to notice here is Diane's selfish wish-fulfillment- she has her lover back with her, tender and loving, and amnesiac to boot, allowing Diane/Betty to do what she pleases with her. Diane gets her revenge by humiliating Adam in her dream- he's deceived by his wife, knocked over by her lover, stepped on by both of them, etc, etc. The last hallucination Diane has is of the Cowboy who appears in her bedroom to wake her up.
(08.) Diane's neighbor/ex-lover wakes her up. She's come for the ashtray and the rest of her "stuff." Diane sees the blue key shown to her by the hitman lying on the coffee-table, indicating that Camilla is dead. She learns that two detectives have been asking about her.
(09.) Diane stands next to her coffee-maker and has a brief vision of Camilla, conjured up by her guilty conscience.
(10.) Diane is sitting on the couch and staring at the blue key. She is completely consumed by self-mortification now. She sees two tiny figures of her parents (representing both her unconscious fear of them and her inner guilty Self, as opposed to the selfish Ego) that seem to become real and dangerous, attacking their daughter with tearing fingers and crude laughter. Diane runs into her bedroom and shoots herself in the mouth. END OF STORY. Is that so hard to figure out? Please... As much as I respect what other people have to say, I still don't think that saying "This movie is one of the worst films ever, because I didn't understand any of it" is a good reason to revile such a great film. And as far as criticizing David Lynch goes, I have only one thing to say: Any filmmaker who happens to stir the public opinion, and to lay foundation for so many conflicting views (two years after the film's release!) and to cause our fellow-moviegoers to write 770+ reviews on the subject of whether or not the film is a work of art or a piece of junk, is, I think, a genius without peer.

Summary: Worst film of 2001, but Miss Ann Miller is great.
Review: We all know that David Lynch's movie creations are on the weird side, hard to follow sometimes, bizarre. The very best part of this film is Ann Miller. She plays the nice manager of a Hollywood apartment building. Ann Miller is a very talented and respectable actress. I can understand her taking this role, but I can also understand her not discussing any other part of this film she was not involved in. She doesn't have to. I hope she will get a better film or tv project out of this. I so liked her guest spot in the ABC tv series "Home Improvement". I also recall a Tom Snyder radio show interview she did many years ago that has never left my mind. Ann Miller is a sweet one of a kind lady. The last 48 minutes of this film is terrible. It just drops flat. But if you are a fan of David Lynch films, don't let me stop you. This DVD does not contain a chapter selection. It won't even let you skip to another scene. The screen goes black and goes into "Bonus Material", so you have to go "Main" and play the movie all the way through again. I guess David Lynch wants to make you watch this film all the way through from start to finish. Special appearances by Lee Grant, Billy Ray Cyrus, Chad Everett and James Karen. Instead of watching this Lynch junk film, watch another Ann Miller film instead. A happy Ann Miller musical would do just fine.

Summary: A Good Movie to Mess with your Head
Review: This movie is seems normal throughout the beginning scenes. But since the director is David Lynch I knew it would not be for long. Naomi Watts plays Betty a sweet girl from Canada. When she finds Rita played by Laura Elena Harring. They try to find out who Rita really is. A lot of other stuff happens im not going to give anything away. I will tell you this if you understand the ending you are a genius!

Summary: Feel good mysterious movie
Review: Honestly, the first time I watched it, I only liked the first half. Then it started becoming harder to understand. Then, two months later, I watched it a second time to see if I missed anything. I missed a lot. Afterward, I understood it and liked it much better. This is a uniquely crafted movie directed by David Lynch. "Mullholland Dr." blends erotica and mystery beautifully. Certain clues and many unexpected events keep the audience watching closer. Every actor expresses their character's emotion at the fullest, especially Naome Watts and Laura Elena Heiring, who play an aspiring actress and a woman struggling with her memory loss. The movie in its entirity proves that it was well-deserving of its four Golden Globe nominations and an Oscar nomination. This is recommended for those who love risque movies as one will not be disappointed in this piece of art. ***Note: Before you watch "Mullholland Dr.", click on the "Quotes and Trivia" on this page. They'll give you ten clues. Write them down. It will help you understand the movie much better.

Summary: Best US film of the last decade
Review: A knockout of a film, starring two gorgeous women (and some more beautiful ones in smaller roles). By far the best film Lynch made, too, the culmination of his career so far. On par with anything ever done in Europe by Fellini, Bunuel, Antonioni, etc. But please keep in mind that this is a difficult film and you won't get much out of it if you try to use it for background entertainment. There is a superb review in The Perfect Vision magazine which explains the enigmas of film. It's worthwhile to see it once, read the "decoder" and then see it again. Better yet, buy it and see it time and again. It is the best DVD I have thus far bought.

Summary: WHAT THE HELL???
Review: It is likely that this movie has busted several of my brain cells during just the first half hour. My brain now feels like I have suffered a terrible car accident almost like Rita's or Camilla's or whoever she is, after seeing the movie several times last week. The movie slowly manifests almost nothing that will suffice for what is needed to somewhat enjoy the movie. I have finally figured out the movie to some extent but still feel like I am missing something important. The movie is a bit boring, so I have had difficulty paying atention to what I need in order to get things straight. Besides all this, the film doesn't offer anything unique like I expected. I also felt that the acting wasn't...believable enough. The only reason I gave 'Mulholland Drive' three stars was because the plot has great potential and I laughed like a little demon baby several times during some serious scenes like; the strange black 'thing' in the alley, the random lesbian scene(which I now sort of understand) and the maniacal film directors wife.
