Summary: It's a terrible edition!!
Review: In my opinion, this is the worst interpretation of Weber's musicals. Those famous songs are badly performed. Yes, Elaine Paige is famous, but each time she sings "Memory" gives me a terrible feeling on her pronouciation and internation. She seemed incapable to handle the singing of the last sentences in "Memory".(Sarah, Babra performed much much better than she did.) ...

Summary: kris phillips --- amazing
Review: the performances of the ensemble cast were great no doubt, but it was kris phillips (fei xiang) who really shined. he has an incredible voice and stage presence.

Summary: Wow.
Review: What else can I say? I've been watching this on PBS. Elaine Paige is wonderful... but Kris Phillips! WOW. I've been scouring the 'net for information on him, and have been disappointed to find not much of any. He's amazing, and I'm ordering this DVD the second it comes out so I can have something of his. He's an amazing talent, and I'm jealous of anyone who can get their hands on his stuff :) He alone makes this program worth it!

Summary: Midge Ure - Great DVD!
Review: When I buy a DVD for music, I demand great sound and fun visuals with it. This DVD does not have great sound (a bit bassy), even with playing with the audio set up. HOWEVER, it does have some very good live versions of the hits that Ultravox/Midge Ure fans will appreciate. "Lament" - one of the most beautiful hauting songs ever made is WONDERFUL here. Simply - more synthesizers where used (I think). It is great watching Midge during this song, as with all his songs - he and his fans will FEEL his music!

Will we see Midge running around the stage like a Garth Brooks-type? No. Any background dancers? No. How about a fancy light show? Nope. Just a great concert that I wish I saw (even though I did see him live in Los Angeles awhile back)in person.

Even though I wished he sang "Visions In Blue" and "Reap The Wild Wind" I will settle for this for now and hope that a new improved DVD will provide these great songs for us.

Special Features includes the video to the songs "Beneath A Spielberg Sky" & "(You) Move Me" - both are good songs. Also has interviews with him in regards to some of his hit songs, interesting tidbits here for you fans.

Buy it, you'll like it...it will just wet your appetite to buy his other CDs if you already do not have them, and also wishing for a better sounding DVD in the future.

Summary: Tony Vincent, Superstar
Review: While I found that in this Andrew Lloyd Webber concert special, that Sandy Lam and a slim few other featured vocalists were not neccesarily the best choices for the show (Lam sounded nervous through much of it, and her stage presence was lacking), most were fabulous.

Elaine Paige was as good as anyone would have thought her to be, as she is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals' most famous alumni.

Kris Phillips, though I felt his Phantom renditions couldn't match par with Michael Crawford or Howard McGillan, did a wonderful job singing the title song from Sunset Boulevard.

However, I felt that the real star of the show was American Tony Vincent. His voice was phenomenal, and his stage presence and charisma was huge. As a viewer, I could sense that Tony was enjoying himself immensely, and if he wasn't, he did a heck of a job faking it. And that's what musical stars are supposed to do.

Overall, I would say this concert was well done, and the people in China were lucky to see it live.
