Summary: you'll either love glitter or hate it
Review: i am one of those who loved it and if you hated it i respect that cause everybody has different taste and to the reviewer from newyork get lost cause i think it's stupid of you to think that one of the best selling artists has only 12 fans she has over millions of fans who love her and nobody can't take that away from her.

Summary: Not Bad At All!
Review: After all of the criticism it received, I was a little skeptical while watching this movie. However, I found that the movie and Mariah Carey's performance were undeserving of such a bad rap. It wasn't quite as predictable as I thought it would be and was in no way a mirror of the 'Mariah Carey story'. I enjoyed the music that was used throughout the movie. (Much of it, ofcourse was courtesy of Mariah.) Her voice was fantastic and so were her ballads. Mariah also came off as a natural and especially handled the emotional parts well. I only have a couple of complaints. First, I felt that some of the scenes could have been drawn out a little more. The movie cut from scene to scene rather quickly, but it seemed as though that was done on purpose. Second, there could have been more 'bonding' scenes between Mariah's character(Billie) and her two best friends. The movie was more about Billie and her relationship with her boyfriend, which brings me to my final complaint...Max Beesley, the actor who played Billie's boyfriend. At times his accent and his acting were rather unconvincing. It seemed as though he was trying too hard to be cool. The movie would have been better with a different actor. Overall, though, this movie was worth watching and I'd easily watch it more than once. I think it received so many bad reviews due to the fact that Mariah's first starring role was as a character with a story too much like her own more than anything else. It never really got a chance. I have a feeling we'll be seeing even better things from Mariah in the future. After all, not every one of the movies Whitney, Janet, Madonna or J.Lo have starred in have been big hits, now have they and did they receive that much flack for it?

Summary: The ending set this movie for disaster
Review: I had very low expectations from this movie and the more i started to watch it the more i enjoyed it. Then towards the end the movie took a drastic turn for the worst. The plot was very shaky, predictable, and the timing on alot of things did not seem right. I felt like things that needed closure were left open. I expected this movie to be a complete flop but i actually enojoyed some of it. The only thing i can say is to give it a chance and see if you like it for youself.

Summary: Razzie material.
Review: Exhaustion. A breakup. A mental breakdown. Not one, but TWO flop albums. Getting booted from your record label. With all this behind her, the last thing Mariah Carey needs is another jab at her debut movie, "Glitter." But considering the rather high average rating for this DVD, I must proclaim the truth: this film is bad. And not just bad, but over-the-top, can-they-really-take-this-seriously bad. Mariah is Billie, a multiracial aspiring singer who gets involved with a music mogul and slowly rises to fame. Hmmm. Sounds a bit too similar to Carey's own real life. But no matter. Carey is as inept an actress as she is powerful a singer. She may carry a scene, but what she doesn't convey is emotion--except for the unintended laughs that her performance will rouse from the audience. I can't believe that the director even bothered to do a commentary for this dud. If, for nothing else, "Glitter" does make one positive contribution: it nearly replaces "Showgirls" as the benchmark for bad film.

Summary: IT' Wasn't ALL THAT or ALL THAT BAD
Review: The movie Glitter was not more than what you may have hyped it up in your head to be. If you thought it to be good before you saw it that's what it may have been to you. And vice versa with bad thought of it. I thought it was a typical, singer trying to act movie. I think Mariah did OK. I liked the movie it had a nice little message to it. But as far as telling anyone to just buy it, or it is all that. THAT IS WHAT IT IS NOT. But if you are or "were" a Mariah fan It's a collectible. Maybe she won't make another movie..lol.

Summary: highly recomended...
Review: if for laughs only.

this is one of most horrendous movie I have ever seen but that's what makes so great! carey's performance matches that of diana ross'in THE WIZARD OF OZ, and has the presence of Julia Sweeney in IT'S PAT.

you'll find a lot to like about this movie when you don't take it for what it wants to be... good.

take it as one big joke and ejoy the show.

WATCH IT! WATCH IT! WATCH IT!

Summary: Mariah proves she can act.
Review: Everyone who doubted Mariah should offer an apology. Yes, this film isn't an Academy award winner but, it is entertaining. Mariah's portrayal of Billie is well done. It doesn't seem at all that she is trying to act, as alot of singer/actors do. She is Billie Frank. She delivers her lines as if she is the character and that is what acting is. Excellent work Mariah!! That goes to show you that in todays society people love to shoot someone when they are on top and that is totally wrong!!

Summary: Not great, not awful, not campy... just terribly mediocre
Review: After sitting through the entire film (which felt longer than the stated running time), it's hard to understand what all the fuss is about - both good and bad. This is a mediocre film built on a hackneyed, hole-ridden plot, shallow characterizations, and editing that strives for and fails to achieve true stylishness.

The acting is good enough to keep the viewer from being taken 'outside' the film, and suggests that, given better writers and directors, Carey could have ended up in a film that garnered more positive response. Much of animosity towards this film seems to be a reflection of viewers' animosity towards Carey herself. Her unhinged personal life and the headlines it's generated have translated into a great deal of personal contempt for her and her work.

Those expecting a movie that's so bad that it's campy good fun will have to look to masterworks like "Showgirls." This one's little more than a bore.

Summary: If you have the soundtrack, it's not necessary to see this
Review: The movie focuses more on the club scene and the music of the time, the plot is very predictable and the movie just goes too fast. However I'm still a fan of Mariah Carey's music and Glitter is one of her best albums, I recommend that instead.
