Rating: Summary: Superb! Review: Gary Burton is a jazz vibraphonist who has won 5 Grammys, at least one in each of four decades, starting in the 70's. "Gary Burton Live" was filmed in January, 1981, at the Midem Festival, Cannes, France. The DVD is 60 minutes long. The video quality is acceptable, considering that it was recorded more than 20 years ago. The mode is full screen (not widescreen). The cinematography was nicely done and created the feeling of being present at the concert. The sound quality (Dolby Digital 2.0) is very good. There is no talking, it is all music and applause. The tracks are: Solo: 1. My Foolish Heart [5:54] With the Hum Trio: 2. The Night Has A Thousand Eyes [8:48] 3. African Flower [5:35] 4. Bud Powell [9:10] With the Ahmad Jamal Trio: 5. Bogata [13:45] 6. Autumn Leaves [5:11] 7. One [9:04] Extras (all available at www.garyburton.com): Gary Burton Biography Gary Burton Discography Gary Burton Equipment There is Gary Burton, with 2 sticks in each hand, playing the vibraphone. What I particularly like is that you can really see Gary Burton play. Wow! The solo that Gary Burton begins with, "My Foolish Heart" is a virtuoso performance. The entire concert is fabulous. What talent they have on one stage! There are many great views of the musicians playing their instruments. "Autumn Leaves" is beautifully done. Highly Recommended.
