Four jazz greats, no one overshadows anyone else, but all
seem to work hard together to bring out the best in one another.

Review: the quality of the sound and video, and the performances by the musicians of this dvd are a cut above most of the jazz concert dvds i have seen. the concert begins with a brief drum solo by dejohnette as the other musicians are introduced and join in one at a time (a nice touch and deviation from the norm). there are no frills, just outstanding music making by four masters of the jazz world. the selection of material is good, with the tempo ranging from slow and spacious (the bat) to smokin' (hurricane). the impact was greater the second time i watched it.

Summary: Dream team at their best
Review: This concert is a milestone in jazz history! I have followed Pat Metheny and his group for many years but this is something else. Herbie Hancock, Jack Dejohnette, Dave Holland and Pat Metheny is doing a unlikely but historic perfomance for a great crowd in Philadelphia. Great tunes by great musicians who idolize each other, and it really shows in this once in a lifetime performance. I have a hard time to imagine a more inspirational moment in live jazz!

Review: This is just great. Metheny sounds fantastic. Holland's sound on the opening piece is extraordinary. DeJohnette is, as always, intriguing. Absolutely worth the listen.I also agree with other reviews that the DVD production is of very good quality.
