Summary: A Masterful Performance
Review: A masterful performance, as you would expect from Harry Connick Jr. The revised orchestration of old masterpieces are well written and refreshed to Harry's style.

The Capitol Theatre in Quebec City provides excellent acoustics for the big band sounds from this DVD. It is recorded using high resolution audio (well balanced), and high resolution video.

An excellent DVD!

Summary: Harry Connick Jr ...sigh!!
Review: Besides an unrivaled ability to make women of all ages sigh (believe me on this, I was recently at one of his concerts where two 70-ish year old women were literally hootin' and hollerin' and swooning), the man is the consummate performer. This dvd, filmed early in the Only You tour in beautiful Quebec City, is masterfully produced and captures the many talents of the man and his band. Singing, dancing, humor, theatrics, original composition, ingenious interpretation and a magical energy the whole band shares comes through beautifully in this entertaining and inspiring show. The documentary and post-concert interview are a lot of fun as well. While nothing compares to seeing Harry and the band live, this DVD is the closest we can come to that. Also excellent is the Jill Connick-directed "We Are In Love" concert dvd from a decade ago. Fun to watch back to back to see how Harry has changed...and how he hasn't!

Summary: What CAN'T Harry do and do well?
Review: I have to begin by saying that when it comes to Harry Connick Jr. I am not objective. I have enjoyed and followed his artistry for years. That said this dvd is one of the best performance dvd's on the market. This is a remarkable window into Connick's virtuoso talent. Harry Connick Jr. is such an incredible artist, as versatile and magnetic as Frank Sinatra ever was but Harry is truly his own invention and unique sound. This man has mastered everything he ever attempted.

After you watch this dvd you will understand why Harry is by far the crooner with the most longevity and sole talent because he needs noone to shore up his musical virtuosity, it's all him, and this dvd demonstrates how he is who is and how his band complements every note he plays or sings or composes or arranges.

His arrangements are so rhythum change gorgeous or bluesy beautiful that anyone who once heard some of the melodies he sings would forget they were classic romantic standards because he can reinvent an old sound and make it his own with one breath.

Wait until you see him play the piano for "Sweet Georgia Brown" because you will never compare him to another artist again - he is THAT masterful. I have to say that was for me the most enchanting part of the dvd. The dvd also includes a 30-minute interview with Harry that illustrates his humility and genuine nature and a 20-minute documentary on the concert itself and the other musicians Harry creates magical music with you cannot miss it's so professionally well done.

I have played this over and over and over again. If musical performances of the most talented kind hypnotize you too - you'll love this one as much as I do.

Review: Only Harry Connick Jr. could sing on, play on, arrange, conduct, and orchestrate a musical experience such as the one shared with us on this DVD. With the release of "Only You In Concert" DVD, Harry heads the long list of artists leading the way back to the wonderful tunes from the Great American Songbook. His elegant and unique interpretations of these classic tunes are proof that a great talent has no bounds, and these beautifully written tunes are truly timeless. This DVD also includes an interview with Harry as well as a brief but informative documentary giving us some insight into the production of this terrific product as well as the musical genius that is Harry Connick Jr.

If you LOVE listening to GREAT CROONERS and BIG BAND SWING, I would also recommend, Monte Procopio "Swingin' With Style" CD. He is another great crooner that can really SWING and deserves a listen. Buy both these CDs, you can't go wrong!

Review: Who am I? My grandma? Do I really want to watch Harry Connick, Jr. live? On PBS? I mean, I do like that "Antique Roadshow" program and I'm sure they've got some other decent stuff on there, but damn, PBS? Anyway, Mr. Connick does his best to convince everyone he's the second coming of Frank Sinatra (it's tough to say who's the better actor, however), crooning his way through "Save the Last Dance for Me", "The Very Thought of You" and many other standards. So how's ol' Harry do? Not really that well, to be honest. His mood is too subdued, his voice too average-it's like he's trying too hard to give people what they want. And what do people want? I'll tell ya: they want bonus material like interviews with Harry and the band, a photo gallery (why must every DVD come with a photo gallery?), and behind-the-scenes footage.
