Summary: Dirty Dancing fans will love the DVD
Review: Whether a first-time viewer or if you've seen this film 25 times, you will love the DVD version of this classic dance film.

The Collector's Edition of this DVD is loaded with extras. One of the audio tracks is a running commentary by the film's writer and coproducer, Eleanor Bergstein. The film is loosely based on her own teen summers spent in the Catskills and her time as an Arthur Murray dance instructor. She describes the struggle to get a company to produce and finance the film, casting the roles and some of the ways the film makers had to cut corners to stay within the budget. She talks about how some the scenes were selected for the film, which scenes had to be cut and the reaction of audience members during test screenings. Ms. Bergstein tells us that the character of Vivian (the "bungalow bunny" who has her eye on Johnny) is played by the film's assistant choreographer and Ms. Bergstein herself has a brief cameo appearance in the film. As a film buff, I find all of these behind the scenes tidbits fascinating.

The DVD also includes the film trailer, cast biographies and production notes with an easy interactive menu. One thing that's nice about this menu compared to other DVDs I've seen is that snippets of the film and selections from the film soundtrack play in a dropin screen during menu selection.

The DVD includes a featurette on the making of the film. This is about 10 minutes long, and fans of the film will probably wish this were much longer. There is also some video footage of the rehearsal of the dancing in the final "I've Had the Time of My Life" dance scene.

The only disappointment in this DVD is the quality of the three music videos included: Hungry Eyes, She's Like the Wind, and I've Had the Time of My Life. The videos look like they have been dubbed down four to five generations from the master. The videos are fuzzy and poor quality. It's too bad that the original negatives of the music videos weren't used in compiling this otherwise outstanding collector's package DVD. The audio and video quality of the film, however, are top notch.

Other than the music videos, the DVD is outstanding, and Dirty Dancing fans will continue to watch this one over and over again.

Summary: I LOVED the movie, then i learned the hard part....
Review: i thought this movie was really good. i especially like all the good music and dancing. i used to watch this movie over and over and over, and then i learned the horrible truth. that, in real life, jennifer gray and patrick swayze hate each other. this ruined the whole movie for me. i hope i didn't ruin the movie for you if you didn't already know this.

Summary: I have an OCD with this movie!
Review: Yes I am a psycho, and yes I love this movie! It is THE BEST thing since sliced bread...and pizza. It reminds me of the good ol' days when I looked Jennifer Grey. I miss those days. And for awhile I even looked Patrick Swayze. But now, I just look like Neil. Watch this movie because it's really good and you'll just want get up and D-A-N-C-E...dance!

Summary: Dirty Dancing
Review: Not only is this movie about a spoiled rich girl and a boy from the wrong side of the tracks...it is about two people who learn that love is not about riches or poverty, but about two souls destined to be together. A true coming of age story...all about growing up and opening your eyes.

Summary: Best Movie in a long time
Review: I thought that this movie was very good. It is a forbidden love story with a lot of dancing and is a movie I never get tired of. It is about this family taht goes to stay in a hotel where the staff are not treated so well. Baby (Jennifer Grey) helps one of the staff pay for a doctor but she and Jhonny (Patrick Swayzee) have to do the dance and so he teaches it to her and they fall for each other. I really loved this movie and I think that everyone should give it a try.

Summary: Hopelessly Romantic Feel Good Movie
Review: A romantic novel with pictures. Its not a 'deep' movie, nor do I believe it was supposed to be. Its just a feel good movie for us hopeless romantics...much like 'Pretty Woman' was. I would love to see a director 'pair' Gray & Swayze together again...maybe a return visit to 'Kellermans' with the rest of the cast.
