Summary: A beautiful film, with excellent choreography!
Review: OK, so people looking for Oscar-caliber acting will be really disappointed, but if you love to dance, or love to watch it, this is the movie for you! I mean, these young dancers are so talented that who would expect them to be great actors, too? If you're somebody who owns the Turning Point and Dancers, buy this one too. While the plot leaves much to be desired (one reviewer hit it exactly with "it's like Fame only for ballet dancers"), who really watches ballet movies for the plot anyway??? The dance sequences are utterly fabulous--Amanda Schull has beatiful lines and Ethan Steifel pirouettes like a banshee. A must-have for any dance lover!

Summary: If you like dance movies, you'll like Center Stage
Review: A must see film about a girl that attends The American Ballet Academy. The boy dancers are really cute and dance well. I truly recomend this movie!

Summary: Great Movie!
Review: I loved this movie! I'm a dancer myself, and I really enjoy movies about dancers, and this one was by far my favorite! The movie was a bit slow, but all the great dancing totally made up for that, making the movie great.

Summary: Center Stage: Simply The Best
Review: What a great movie...Okay, so the plot was a little original;Completly normal...All I have to say is that, This movie not only inspired me, but my friends and family as well. Amanda Shull (Jody) was just fantastic! Along with all of her Co-Stars. I would recomend this movie to everyone and everyone, Anyone who thinks that this movie is just for young, female, dancers, have it all wrong... Get this movie today!

Summary: I watched this movie six times in three days!
Review: I really enjoyed this movie. It was about a girl(Jody) who dreams of dancing in the American BAllet Company(ABC) when she gets invited to dance at the American Ballet Acadamy(ABA). Jody is behind in ballet tecniqe, has bad feet, doesn't have enough turnout, and doesn't have the "ideal" body type for classical ballet. Unsurprisingly the director, Jonathon Reeves, doesn't think she'll ever beable to be dancer in any company. With her best friends, a bolimic roommate, and an idiotic dancer/choregrapher/boyfriend this movie is very realistic. Being a dancer I can relate to the "abused" pointe shoes and competative atmosephere. The dancing at the end left me hungry for more. On DVD the main character(Jody, played by Amanda Shull) looks and sounds completly different in some of the scenes. I would reccomend this movie to anyone who wants a good plot.

Summary: Wow! You have to see this movie.
Review: The movie has great dancing, of course. And also the personalities of the characters are brought in throughout the movie for each decision made, something that many movies forget nowdays. And the movie gives you more than just some ballet, but they give you a little bit of modern dance, clubbing(going to a club and dancing), and a spin to the ordinary ballet. There are twists and turns throughout the whole movie to keep the watcher interested.A must see for sure.

Summary: Good Review, (coming from a non-dancer)!!
Review: Most of the reviews that I've read in Amazon were from people with some type of dance background. I, on the other hand, do not possess these skills. Prior to watching Center Stage, I thought it would be purely a dancing moving. To my surprise, it had a good story line and character development in it. The movie hosted real actual dancers as the actors, rather than actors portraying dancers. So the acting in the movie was sub-par, but it gave a FEEL to the movie as well. You can relate to the characters as everyday individuals, instead of the TOO Hollywoodish movies that we're used to.

The main character is Jody Sawyer (a Jenny Garth look-alike), a young, beautiful and nieve girl who's ambition is to be part of the ABC (American Ballet Company). It seems like she would do ANYTHING to achieve this dream! She is one of the few that are selected to attend the ABA (American Ballet Company). There, she meets her dorm friends Maureen (a bolimic), Eve (outgoing/energetic) and a few others. The main goal of the students... to be one of the three male or three females to make the cut for the ABC.

The one thing I did notice was the strong stereotyping in the movie. They had the African-American team up with each other during a dance sequence, they happened to have a Russian couple named Sergey and Gallina, and they made an African-American the bad/rebellious person in the movie. Over all though, the movie was fun and energetic with a variety of music from ballet to jazz to latin to modern pop. It even had a love triangle in it!

Summary: Center Stage-- What an uplifting Movie
Review: I wanted to say that this movie brings hope back into the viewer of the dance world. It is a high energy pumping movie that has you cheering all the way to the end. This movie makes you want to get out there and learn to dance. I urge anyone who loves to dance to watch this fast-paced movie!

Summary: A four star movie (in my opinion)
Review: This film has recieved many criticisms, undue or not, about the dancers'"acting" ability. The only one, in my opinion, that truly has a tough role to portray is Maureen, the bulimic with the ability but not the heart to be a dancer. The person who portrays her is a teen actress, Susan May Pratt, who has been in movies like "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Drive Me Crazy". Although the main focus of the movie is to show off the dance moves of the young and Fame-esque stars,it does have a little realism sandwiched in between. Just a tad.
