Summary: Hats off to Britains finest actor Albert Finney
Review: Words cannot describe this fine british actor, Scrooge being filmed in the early 70s, showed how well Albert Finneys acting was. Its amazing to see how the makeup artist was able to make Albert look so old as Ebanezer Scrooge and his acting was so convinceable you actually thought it was a old man. There are alot of renditions of this holiday classic but this is the best, especially when the author Charles Dickens depicts the atmosphere and setting of Old London. This way the movie is very authentic and real. And don't forget the fantastic music also done by the same creators as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This movie is up there with such classics as Julie Andrews The Sound of Music.

Summary: YES!
Review: So excited that this beloved film has finally come out on DVD. I've been waiting a long time, as have many others.
A true Christmas classic, but I watch this movie many times a year.
To those responsible for getting the DVD out, a resounding "Thank you very much!"

Summary: Scrooge Fanatic
Review: This film is most definately the greatest "Scrooge" ever made, and is one of the best Christmas films available. This movie has been a part of my Christmas tradition since I was a boy. Christmas just wouldn't be the same without it. The performances are absolutely exquisite, and the music is amazing. I am so thankful that they finally released this on dvd, my vhs tape has seen better days. Do your family and yourself a favor and buy this on dvd. I guarentee you won't be sorry.

Summary: SCROOGE: "Thank You Very Much"
Review: SCROOGE has been a guilty pleasure of mine for many years. As a kid (before cable came along) I hoped that one of the local stations would play the film around Christmas time. I probably haven't seen SCROOGE since I was 11 or 12 years old.

The newly released DVD looks fantastic. The film is 33 years old, and its production design and colors are rendered well on the DVD. The overture is included.

Here's some quick impressions after seeing the film again:

- Alec Guinness is a genius! As Marley's ghost, Guiness has some very funny moments. Watch his performance closely: Guiness achieves "ghostliness" without the aid of digital effects. Watch him "float" parts of his body, especially his hands when he sits down. The walk, the voice, the "floating". Simply brilliant.
- There are several very good songs. My favorites: "I Like Life", "Thank You Very Much", and "Happiness".
- I actually like the flashbacks when Scrooge is young and in love. Very touching. And pretty.
- They really edited this film for TV! There's scenes in SCROOGE that I've *never* seen before; specifically, the scene in hell at the end. Funny!

So, even though SCROOGE brought Christmas into my house in September, it was a welcomed, early celebration.

Summary: Absolutely lovely!
Review: Cheers to Paramount for listening to the viewers wishes to have this out on DVD! What a treat! Beautiful widescreen, crisp, crystal clear picture, brighter, wonderful sound, lovely rendition of Dicken's A Christmas Carol, and a family favourite. I picked up 2 copies and plan to get more to give away as gifts! This should be kept in print, every year, with the rest of the Christmas specials, for there is always someone new discovering a classic, and making it part of their own holiday traditions. Thank you, Paramount, for a lovely DVD of one of my most favourite and most often watched movies!

Summary: Finally!!!!!!!
Review: All I can say is Yes Finally!!!!! The critics may hate this movie, but my whole family loves it. It has been a tradition for years to watch the movie once as a movie and then watch the movie a second time as a "Rocky Horror Picture Show" experience. My kids know all of the songs and love them. The critics have been unduly harsh to this movie for years. On behalf of all the people waiting for the widescreen DVD version all these years I'd simply like to say.... Thank you very very much!!!!

Summary: A classic and unforgettable film...
Review: THE best holiday film ever, period.
Albert Finney is simply amazing, a true chameleon and one of the world's best actors in the role he was meant to play. Alec Guiness is astonishing as Marley's ghost; he is both horrendous and slyly comic in one of the greatest supporting performances of all time.
Incredible set design, cinematography, costumes, and (of course), music--the classic, "Thank You Very Much" is one of the catchiest tunes ever written for a film.
Atmospheric, frightening, heartbreaking, and ultimately life-affirming, 'Scrooge' is the one film I must see every holiday season. Ebenezer's Christmas morning redemption and resultant joyous sleigh ride through the snowy streets of Victorian London is a sequence which ranks among the best scenes in movie history. It simply would not be Christmas without this brilliant and vastly underrated film. Enjoy!

Summary: Best Christmas Movie Ever
Review: I am a 17 year-old male but I'll be the first to tell you that I LOVE this movie! I have this on VHS and have watched it year round ever since I was a young child. I'm amazed that amazon.com has given it such a lousy review. The songs are catchy and very memorable, I often find myself humming them during the day (especially "Thank You Very Much"). Don't listen to the bad reviews, this is not just a classic christmas movie, it's a classic musical. Go buy this.

Summary: ALBERT FINNEY IS A PERFECT SCROOGE
Review: I am so excited that this version of "A Christmas Carol" is making its debut on DVD - what took so long? Truly, this is one of my favorite Christmas movies; I love the music ("Thank You Very Much!"); the period costumes and Albert Finney's wonderful take on Scrooge's personality and how the old grouch got that way. Highly recommended!!
