Summary: The Best Movie of all times
Review: I first saw this movie about 5 years ago and used to watch it at least once a week. George Strait is so sexy and the music is awesome. I love romances and the ending in this movie is the absolute best part. George Strait is not only the best country singer but a terrific actor and I would love to see him in some more movies.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: In my top 20 movies of all time
Review: I first saw this movie on TV and loved it so much I bought it. I can watch it over and over, even when it comes on TV. I had never heard George Strait, but I've become a big fan. I love the story, the characters and the music. It's one of my all-time favorite movies.

Summary: Pure Country is the best of Country Movies
Review: I first stumbled upon this movie when I learned Kyle Chandler (Buddy Jackson) was in this movie, since hes my favorite actor I had to watch it. Though he had few sceens (and he played a sort of 'bad guy' the villan) I thought it was a good movie. It was cute that George Strait and his son sang the title song, I liked all the music that they had used for "Pure Country" "I Cross my Heart", "Heartland", "Overnight Male" and "Where the Sidewalk Ends" are my favorites of the movie.

Summary: Pure waste of time
Review: I remembered viewing this film in theatres back in '92 (I was probably the only one to see it!) when I bumped into the cassette in the drama section at Blockbuster. Since only the title was familiar to me, not the plot, I rented the tape. No it's not memorable by all means. In fact, it's generally disappointing. This is a hackneyed tale of a country music star who goes back to his roots where nobody remembers who he is and falls in love. The love between the woman and the singer is unconvincing, the characters aren't in the least interesting, the plot is totally predictable, and the film is overlong. Like many musicians turned actors, George Strait tries his best but is often not very good.

Summary: Have seen better film on teeth
Review: I saw this "movie" at the theater when it was first released and thanks to extensive therapy I had all but finally forgotten about it. I just came upon it as I came to Amazon to buy the new G. Strait concert DVD. I am a big fan of George and I can't wait to see the concert but this movie was one of the few I couldn't make myself stay in the theater and finish. I left my mother and wife and took a nap in the car in the Texas heat rather than subject myself to anymore of this insulting movie.
This may not be a 'white trash' movie but why is it that most of the reviews were of the VHS version? I didn't think anybody still had VCR's left in their trailers.
One scene that nightmarishly comes to mind was in a concert hall or bar and a couple is standing directly in front of the stage and every time they speak to each other the music would conveniently turn down so that they wouldn't have to raise their voices. Now that's realistic!
Maybe I lived in Texass too long to be impressed with the big belt buckle thing but George is too tiny to be carrying a buckle the size of those 19" TV's you all are watching this horrible movie on.
I can't imagine why he hasn't made anymore movies with such an easy to please audience.
Very predictable. Very unrealistic. Very weak script. Poorly directed.
Spend your money on the concert DVD. Or put it down on a DVD player!

Summary: Proves there are more important things than good acting
Review: I think at least one reviewer actually thought George Strait had a "wonderfully understated" acting style, which is partially true -- it's so understated you spend half the movie looking for it. Luckily by the second half you've realized the music is so good it doesn't matter if he can act. They should have had Kyle Chandler/Buddy Jackson stand in for George/Dusty off the stage rather than on it. Leslie Ann Warren waves her hands and grits her teeth a lot, but her clothes speak louder than words, and the two best characters -- Grandma Ivy and Earnest -- make the whole thing worth it. Well, Ivy, Earnest, and George Strait's butt in Wranglers. As long as you're not expecting an Oscar-winning performance by George, enjoy the movie. He's the best "strait" man ever, because he doesn't know how to be any other way.

Summary: The best country movie I've seen in a long time.
Review: I think every part of the movie was very true. It explains the pressure as well as the point of being " pushed" to far. Also that some people need to worry about their relationships before they go trying to " help" anyone else.

Summary: Not bad
Review: I'm not a fan of any of the people in this film except for one, the Lovely Lesley Ann Warren, I simply Adore her and originally saw this due to the fact that she was in it. I found the film a fun film, a good story with decent acting. It probably grabbed alot of female fans due to George Strait starring in it also. Thats ok, some stars pull in good crowds. Not a bad movie but not one of my favorites. I'd give it an "average" rating.
