Summary: Mediocre attempt at a musical
Review: The score is totally forgettable. The dancing is fine and the boys are cute, otherwise a failed attempt. And what is Duval doing in this pap?

Summary: NEWSIES!!!!! YES!!!! AH HA HA!!!! (I'm ok...)
Review: Oh my gosh this movie is wonderful! All of the actors are perfect for their parts and the music is amazing. It really gives you a feel of what the strike was like in 1899! And the girls will love it because like ALL of the newsies are very cute!...There is a very good song that I encourage you to listen to and that is King of New York. And not just because Spot has a part! (well ok, that IS the reason) It's a very upbeat song and my favorite. The newsies vary from witty and sarcastic to serious and devoted to, well, um, DUMB and mean (the Delancey brothers).

Review: I first saw this movie in the theaters in 1992 and not many people can claim that yeat I was only 5 at the time and to this very day I love this movie! I have seen it countless times and its actually in my VCR right now. Characters like jack and David show you the main aspect of the movie well Racetrack and Spot provide comic relief. Just recentley wlel watching this with a friends 3 year old daughter she was so taken by it that she walked downstairs and promptly deemed her 6 month old brother Spot. The movie appeals to all ages and is a great fmaily film!

Review: I've loved this movie since it first came out and ten years later, it's still a favorite guilty pleasure.

The DVD extras really make this worth getting, even if you already have the video. It's impossible for me to elaborate without rambling so I'll just say that this is a must for any and all die hard "Newsies" fans.

Summary: WOW!!!
Review: This movie was first recommended to me by about 20 different people and about 20 different kinds of people all at the same time. It perfectly depicts how life was for these guys. Watching them, your heart will mealt when listening to songs such as "King of New York" and "Ain't it a Fine Life." The story was absolutely amazing. It keeps you awake while you listen to the story of how Jack Kelly became a legend. This movie is for kids and adults of all ages, male or female. It is worth the money just to sit and watch it. I love this movie!!!

Summary: Entertaining for just about anyone
Review: Decades after the heyday of movie musicals, and years before "Moulin Rouge" ... there was "NEWSIES."

It's been 10 years since "Newsies" came out (and largely flopped) in theaters. But its many fans (gathered with the video release) are still excited about this movie -- and it's not hard to see why.

"Newsies" is set in 1899 in New York. Before the days of home delivery and newsstands, the newsboys sell papers on the streets. When publisher Joseph Pulitzer (Robert Duvall) starts charging the newsies more for the papers they sell, the boys decide to strike. Led by Jack Kelly (Christian Bale) and David Jacobs (David Moscow), they stand up to intimidation. Along the way, they are helped by a newspaper reporter (Bill Pullman) and a vaudeville performer/theater owner (Ann Margret). The story is uplifting and the actors are all excellent. They sing well, too.

The music by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) is good enough to please even hard-core musical fans. At the same time, though, "Newsies" is loved even by people who don't usually like musicals. (My siblings all love it, but they don't like musicals.) Most of the songs are high-energy, catchy and fun, while "Santa Fe" is a great ballad.

Along with the great songs, the dancing in "Newsies" is a fantastic highlight -- very athletic and energetic, with flips and other amazing moves.

About the DVD: Special features include making-of featurettes, the true story, trailers and commentary. The making-of segments are the best of the special features and include cast interviews and footage from filming and dance rehearsals. The true story feature also is very interesting; the movie changes details of the strike but has a surprising amoung of historical accuracy. The commentary isn't great, but it does have some good information on making the movie. (I was not pleased, though, when Kenny Ortega said the DVD would have deleted scenes, which it doesn't.)

"Newsies" is an excellent movie -- with fantastic dancing, wonderful songs, an inspiring story and a great cast!

Summary: My Favorite Movie
Review: Whenever I have a sleep-over or go to my friends house i always bring this dvd along. I encourage anyone and everyone to watch this movie. This morning I woke up and decided I'd watch a little bit of it before I started home work, but I ended up watching it twice in a row.

The songs are energetic and make you feel happy. The characters seem so real. When I watch the behind the scenes bonus materal, it seems so weird. I almost expect the actors to be exactly like their characters in the movie. The dancing is fun and fits well.

My dad and brother hate musicals and refuse to watch them with me, but they both Love this movie.

You will not regret buying this movie. It's wonderful!

Summary: The Newsies was great (Gabriel Damon..... hottie!)!!
Review: The Newsies is the greatest movie in the world. Even though I don't own it I rent it all the time and I've seen it about 10 times I learned that kids had it really bad then. I never new how bad they actually had it. Although I'm only 13 I understood how they felt. I know all the songs by heart my favorite one is "king of new york" (a porcelian tub with boilin' water-voice of Gabriel Damon) I wouldn't change anything. The actors and actresses are really great. My favorite actors are gabriel damon as spot coloins and christrian bale as jack kelley. You shouldn't miss this opportunity to see buy renting it or you could just go out and buy it that what I'm planing on doing. Newsies will always be my favorite movie of all time. I'll keep it for my kids to see in the future. oh ya, since I've seen this movie I've always wanted to go to brooklyn because that was Spot Coloins territory and he is a HOTTIE!!!!!!(WITHOUT A HAT ON)! ~Deja~
