Summary: Newsies
Review: I originally watched Newsies in school. You know, school movies at my school are okay, but Newsies was great. Soon everyone knew the words to "King of New York". It had a good plot, good actors, and talented singers. We wanted to sing the words to the songs in music class. Everyone liked Newsies until the end. Newsies was well acted, well directed, and well sung, an all around good movie.

Summary: My Favorite Movie Ever
Review: Newsies is a great movie for both kids and adults. Its got a great cast (Robert Duvall, Ann Margaret, Christian bale, Max Casella, and Bill Pullman), excellent choreography (not girlie like West Side Story), and a charming story. It is well acted, well directed, and has a great soundtrack, which I also recommend!
Its my favorite movie of all time!

Summary: you'll love the movie, just don't believe everything you see
Review: I was, for a while, a member of the online "Newsies cult" and enjoyed it very much. I must say, though, that the information in the movie is NOT very factual at all. Some of the characters were given the names of real newsies, but since no information exists on the real boys, everything else about them is fictional. One of the real leaders was Morris Cohen, not Jack and David, and the real newsies didn't really prevail in the end, the accepted a somewhat decent compromise. Most notably, Pulitzer, portrayed very well by Robert Duvall, was legally blind and living on his yahct somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean during the real strike, not having conferences with newsies in the World Building. But this movie is great if you accept it as a fun musical with some very cute guys singing and dancing their way through 1899 New York City. It's too bad Disney had to mess up the real story - but they've made a habit of doing such things with most of their movies lately.

Summary: Newsies, Newsies!
Review: Newsies is one of my all time favorite movie (only 2nd to the Star Wars movies). This movie is also based on actuall events, but Disney "improved da truth a little".
Anyway, this movie is about the Newsboys (or just Newsies) that decide to go on strike after Pulitzer raises the price or the papers.
Most of the Newsies are poor orphans or runaways who need to earn a living.
When I first saw it, when the first song started I was like, "Oh great, they're singing.", but now I have the soundtrack, and it hasn't left my CD player.
Anyway, back to the movie.
This movie stars Christian Bale (who plays Jack Kelly), David Moscow (who plays David), Luke Edwards (plays Les), Max Casella (Racetrack), Marty Belafsky (Crutchy), Aaron Lohr (Mush [one of my favorite Newsies]), Trey Parker (Kid Blink, my favorite Newsie), Arvie Lowe Jr. (Boots), and Gabriel Damon (Spot Conlon).
Other characters are Dee Caspery (Snitch), Joseph Conrad (Jake), Dominic Maldonado (Itey), Matthew Fields (Snipeshooter), Ivan Dudynsky (Dutchy), Robert Feeney (Snoddy), Michael Goorjian (Skittery), Dominic Lucero (Bumlets), David Sidoni (Pie Eater),and Kevin Stea (Swifty).
Those were just the Newsies.
Bill Pulman (plays Bryan Denton), Ann-Margret (Medda), Ele Keats (Sarah), Jeffery DeMunn (Mayer), Deborra Lee-Furness (Esther), and Marc Lawrence (Kloppman). Those are the friends of the Newsies.
My favorite Newsie is Kid Blink. My second fave is Mush, with Racetrack at a close 3rd.
GET THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!
I say it's the best!
*If you like this movie, be sure to get the soundtrack!*

Summary: THIS IS GREAT!!!
Review: This is one of the best movies of all time,I think. You can see how life was for some of the newsboys of 1899.
It is deffinately a chick-flick and something to watch at sleepovers. It is the best movie of all time. One of the best things about it is that the songs they sing really help tell the story. You might not know always what is going on exactly if you did not pay attention to the songs. This is a great movie and I cannot recommend it to you enough (if you are a girl;most guys don't like this movie)!!

Summary: Extry! Extry!
Review: "The world will know" that Newsies are "carrying da banner" to "seize the day" "for once and for all!" LOL, no pun intended. Okay, enough joking, let's get serious.
First of all, the movie of course does not portray 100% correctly the real strike. But it got about 65% of it right, which is pretty good for Disney. Besides, what movie ever tells the true story correctly anyway?
Some people bashed Newsies because they thought that a)the plot is unoriginal and predictable and b)they didn't like the dancing and singing routines. First, there is nothing wrong with a "Good vs. Evil" plot because it is a classic theme that can't be done without, in movies as well as the real world. And second, just because the dancing is a bit modern and the songs are a little pop driven, doesn't mean it can't be good. So using My Fair Lady or West Side Story to judge against Newsies is like comparing apples to oranges.
The adults' acting is a little embarassing, but we don't pay much attention to them because we've got our beloved newsies pulling some very good stuff. The singing and dancing are great, especially Christian Bale who stops the show with his solo in Santa Fe. Bale's New York accent is just picture perfect, I was shocked and amazed to find out later that he's really British (acting, singing, dancing, accent...do this man's talents ever cease?). Max Casella also stands out with his witty facial expressions and tough-streetguy front. The screenplay can be clumsy at some places, but over all it's a good screenplay with lots of clever and funny lines. My personal favorite are "It's not lying, it's improving the truth a little." and "Remember that hot tip I told you about? Nobody told the horse." Among the songs the best ones are Carrying the Banner, The World Will Know, King of New York, and everyone's favorite Santa Fe.
This is a great fun family movie. So watch it just for fun and learn something too.

Summary: "How do I know you got what it takes to win?"
Review: Spot Conlon...my favorite newsie, you gotta love him. "Newsies" is really an uplifting movie to watch. It's about persistence, determination, and a lot of boys singing their hearts out. The cast do well in this film (e.g. Christian Bale does a fine job on his New York accent, Max Casella *excellent* what more can I say, and Gabriel Damon does a fantastic job as the notorious Brooklyn leader--Spot Conlon). Other noteworthy performances come from Kid Blink, Mush, Crutchy, and Skittery.

Even though there's a lot of sloppy dancing and editorial problems, I still love this film because of its charm. The story itself is really interesting. Yes, the real 1899 strike wasn't as dramatic; however, the movie certainly protrays the strike with some authenticity.

Aside from the story, the soundtrack of this film is great! There are many melodic tunes including "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," "Santa Fe," and "Once and for All." A couple of the catchy beats are "The World Will Know" and "King of New York." While watching the movie, you can easily find youself singing along with these wonderful songs.

BUY the film! Musical lovers epsecially...you won't be disappointed.
